See you at the Expo!

Beef producers can’t be everywhere

Through your investment in the beef checkoff, you tested 39 shoulder and round muscles to discover the ones worthy of becoming tasty, premium cuts — like the Petite Tender and Veal Osso Buco. You also helped develop the Flat Iron Steak, an affordable family favorite that uses 90 million pounds of chuck top blade that used to be ground into hamburger each year. And, you’re not done yet. Your beef checkoff is the reason why we can continue to conduct value-enhancing research to find even more convenient, tender, affordable beef cuts that will delight families everywhere. My beef checkoff… extending our reach to help build beef demand.

Never have we afforded an opportunity such as this, a top heifer calf of the ‘08 calf crop. This heifer exemplifies what our program is all about, phenotype with genetic consistency. A 68 lb. calf out of a first calf heifer, weaning better than 50% of her body weight, and sired by the highest scanning REA bull we’ve produced. Breed her how you like; show ring, commercial? It won’t be wrong. Selling full interest and full possession. We would like to retain the right to one flush at the seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience. 50% of the proceeds to be donated to Kansas Shorthorn Assn.

This sweet little heifer has all the right pieces to make a nice show heifer and will be a great cow. Her mother is one of Sommer’s favorite cows and we have all the females out of her grand dam. Crany is a good honest type of heifer. What you see is what you get. She is sired by HHH Red Man and his influence is all over her. HHH Red Man is a modest framed bull, but he possesses an extra dimension of thickness from front to back. Her dam is a descendent of JF-BGS Cujo’s Rosie 9334 whose genetic influence has been woven throughout our herd. Crany is bred to HHH Petras Iceman, *x41122478, an exciting young bull with adequate frame and muscle, but a world of style and balance. The mating will produce one of his first calves and it should be a good one! This young heifer will be an excellent producer in your herd.
