Dear Friends I am very excited to welcome you to Volume II of the Rising Star sale. A great opportunity is offered as we unlock many of our treasures. I appreciate your time and consideration as you view our sale offering. Make no mistake about it; this is a top end loaded event. There are many sales around the country and with that; it is my competitive nature to offer the best I can. I feel these cattle will compete with anyone’s. The cattle pictured well but are more impressive in person…this truly is a must see group to appreciate. As I breakdown the sale, I feel it breaks down into four groups. Group one is the bred cow/donor division. This group is bred the way they need to be and mated to give huge returns not only on this mating but year after year. Group two is the flush and frozen genetics offering. There are endless possibilities for anyone to increase their genetic base. A lot of times, the best buys are in the embryo offerings. Group three are the bred heifers. This is a very maternal set with a promising future ahead of them. They have versatility to be mated several ways. Group four is our addition of four prospective herd sires. Their quality will work for many of you I’m sure. I’m very proud of the fact that many of our customers have had some huge successes from cattle purchased from Holtkamp Cattle Co. Like every year, if you would like help marketing your program with our genetics or want to take part in either of our fall and winter sale with your purchases all you have to do is ask. It is a pleasure to have made so many friends in this business and we look forward to seeing you in Cedar Rapids. -Chad Holtkamp

Party Time 5024 BD: Spring 2005 • 1/2 Simmental
Sire: Meyer 734 Dam: Partisover Angus Cow 550 •Bred to Dr. Who 5/20/08 •Pasture Exposed to Lamborghini Son •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
Here’s your chance, not only to own a direct daughter of Meyer 734 but this great female’s mother is the very own Partisover 550. Countless numbers have sold for over five figures. At the Throgmartin dispersal (while being in very high demand), eight full sisters sold for an average of $7750.00. Like her full sisters, she milks extremely well and is a near ideal mother. The key to this mating is that they breed on better than themselves, Party Time has left her replacement in our replacement pen. Please note her full brother is the sire of Lots 25, 26 and 27. Collectors of rare gems, ENJOY!

Sire: Meyer 734 Dam: PB Angus by 6807 •Bred to Heat Wave (Original) 5/01/08 •No Bull Exposure •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
This is one of the heaviest muscled and easiest fleshing daughters out of Meyer 734. I feel that after this cow calves, she should be strongly considered as a donor cow because of the way she produces and a solid gold pedigree. Don’t second guess your opportunity here, own her or read about her later.
Page 4 - Holtkamp Cattle Company
Miss Meyer 84 is a very typical Meyer 734 daughter. She is sound and very maternal. This is a great chance to purchase a very productive cow bred to Immortal. The excitement is huge on this mating and very hard to let go.
Miss Imprint 22 BD: Spring 2002 • 3/8 Simmental
Sire: Imprint Dam: Angus •Bred to Heat Wave (Original) 5/06/08 •No Bull Exposure •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
22 is a half sister to Choo Choo. Both were cool marked baldies raised in the same calf crop. Miss Imprint 22 was a little more moderate, thicker and chunkier than Choo Choo. Heat Wave x Choo Choo’s this fall brought $11,750, $7250 and $5000. Looks to me that Miss Imprint 22 is one calf away from her own story.

Miss Power W32 BD: 2001 • 1/4 Simmental
Sire: Meyer 734 Son Dam: Commercial Angus •Bred to Who Made Who 6/24/08 •Pasture Exposed to Lamborghini Son •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
Clearly a front pasture cow for any ones front pasture. Perfect blend of power and grace. I have always kept her daughters and sold her steers. In 2006 I sold her steer calf for $3750 and in 2008 another steer calf was sold for $2750. Imagine getting a heifer calf out of this mating; just imagine what it could be worth!

Sire: Nichols Blk Destiny D12 Dam: GV Amanda •Bred to Dream On 6/01/08 •Pasture Exposed to Lamborghini Son •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
This will be one of the hardest cows to let go. Not only does she raise a calf worth $3000 plus year after year, but she is easy fleshing and easy to admire. She is constantly asked about when visitors come to view our cattle. I’ve had great success making half-bloods out of her and this time I’m sure she will hit a homerun raising a purebred. Don’t miss this one!

Miss Beauty BD: Spring 2003 • Composite
Sire: Who Made Who Dam: Meyer 734/Angus •Bred to Heat Wave (Original) 5/15/08 •No Bull Exposure •Preg Checked Safe to AI date
Here’s your opportunity! If you’re looking for a true powerhouse cow that everyone will be talking about then Miss Beauty 21 is for you! Beauty will take your breath away as you swear the earth is trembling as she struts by. Beauty is so unique… she is sound and huge bodied with a slender feminine neck. She is bred for greatness and without a doubt the mating is awesome and sure to sell one freaky high. She is bred to calf early to Heat Wave (original) which gives someone great opportunity to flush her early spring. I’m sure that the offspring from this mating could produce enough revenue to pay for her no matter what she brings.

HCC Queen 501 is a model Angus cow. She has great rib shape, thickness and a great look to go with. There is no picture of her because on picture day I was undecided whether to offer her or not. It’s hard to part with this one. Study her she won’t disappoint.

Belle has more bone and foot size than almost all the purebred Angus cows out there. After we were unable to get her papers, we went on and make half bloods and she did a great job. Her replacement by 6X will cornerstone our program for many years to come. Her herd number was 10 for a reason.

6X daughter
Miss 179 is a very feminine and angular female. She makes a really good foundation momma cow. I have found that mating Hairy to this type works very well. We sold a Hairy heifer in our fall sale for $14,250.
This trio is a set of foundation black cows of western origin. They have the extra maternal traits and stoutness to breed on and create replacements. I am so excited with my 6X replacements as I know you will be to. These cows were pasture exposed to 6X June & July 2008.

Big E is a must see cow to appreciate. She is a true power cow that puts it all together with her massive depth and spring of rib, squareness of hip and overall width. She’s unique in the aspect that along with all that power, she is as graceful as any in the pasture. Erica is a true foundation cow that will work all directions either straight Angus or your ½ bloods. She flushes well and an example of her production is in Lot 15 A which we have honorably named “Lil E”.

Without a doubt Lil E is the hardest to let go for us. She is one of the first ones born to 6X our Meyer 734 herd sire. 6X will leave a big footprint in our herd with several replacements retained. Lil E has had that extra special look right away. She represents everything that I am trying to produce… power & grace in a baldy package. Lil E is stout enough to make high dollar steers and feminine enough to make big time show heifers and maternal enough to do it everytime.

Jewel is simply awesome. She is moderate sized, powerfully hipped and one of the hairiest cows I have seen. She is the description of versatility and can be mated maternally or for steers. She has proven her value as a producer with her natural bull calf Predator selling for $60,000. Predator is the low birth weight, outcross sire of the future. He was tested TH & PHA free. This opportunity won’t be offered often. Jewel is due to calf in February to Immortal. She flushed 10 embryos in her first and only flush.

Lucky Miss Meyer 2S
Sire: Meyer Ranch 734 Dam: Agweb Lady Luck 188L This Meyer 734 daughter was a highlight of last year’s sale. She is surely a success story. Lucky Miss Myer 2S laid down and calved out a beautiful black baldy heifer by Juneau. I tried to get Alan and Steve to let me sell her but instead they allowed these embryos on a very successful flush they did this past spring. I love half blood cattle and this mating of MCC Blackout and Lucky should be a great foundation for anyone.

What an opportunity to share in one of the all time true treasures I have had. Due to the success of last years flush out of American Gal 011, Dan has allowed me to offer these full sib embryos to our $51,000 heifer for sale. American Gal 28T was shown very successfully by both the Schnoor sisters, California and Abby Long, Oklahoma. A highlight was being named Supreme Champion at the Oklahoma Beef Expo. The upside profit potential is limitless as both parents are tested TH & PHA free. Semen on DMCC Lamborghini 58L is very limited making this mating even more valuable. Time to upgrade is now!

What a cow Erica is. She is so impressive with her body mass and overall squareness. To me, she is near perfect in her phenotype and even better in her genotype. It’s a rare combination. I planned this mating after seeing how well the Who Made Who daughters breed on. The mating of Heat Wave to Who Made Who’s have been selling for $40,000 plus. I know this 734 daughter has what it takes. Also look at Lot 7. Buyer has the option to take 3 or all 6.
Queen is a model Angus cow. With several daughters in our herd, I wanted another chance to tell about this headliner from last year. JD Nolte purchased Queen in last year’s Rising Star Sale. Queen is feminine and yet deep and easy fleshing, a must for any herd. I feel the Imprint cows are as productive and popular as any Meyer 734. Look to lot 4 and Choo Choo…enough said! Buyer has the option to take 3 or 6.

Here’s the best way I know to introduce Roxy. She is nothing short of a cash producer. One flush to Heat Wave produced 8 live calves on 10 eggs. 4 produced by myself and 4 by Rick Gerot. 5 of these calves sold for more than $5000 with a high of $30,000 on a bull calf. The other 3 were still sold for a good premium. Another bull calf by Western Union sold in Throgmartin’s first pasture sale was sold for $25,500. I’m offering someone the opportunity to share in an upcoming success story, don’t look past this mating.

Soundness, maternal and not all crossed up. I went back in time and bred this one to Extreme Justice. He’s a registered Angus that breeds like a cross, club calf sire. Originally I wasn’t going to sell anything bred to Extreme Justice but since I opened the treasure chest, have at it!
This is my favorite kind of female. She is mostly Angus but has a shot of power. She’s moderate, little headed, choked neck with plenty of rib and volume.

This is one of Kirk’s favorites. This heifer has Full Flush back in her pedigree to give her the “Look”.
