CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
Site: 166 Market St. Lexington, KY Year: 2014 Spring Type: Academic (Individual) Tutor: Erin Hathaway Christ Church Cathedral, one of the most historical and biggest Episcopal Church in Lexington, has met the issues from parking and deficient entrances. Working with students from interior design department, we are required to help the clients to solve their parking issue, restore inside and outside environments, and provide rational designs.
My solution successfully provides 250 extra parking spaces for the Church within their budget limit, as well as a decorated art gallery which can receive a wide view from the street. Proposed front-shops of the parking structure can furnish the looking of the building, and also provide amenity for their customers and pedestrians.

Adjacent to Nicholasville road, the site is in southern campus of the University of Kentucky. The only two buildings within this site are Cooper House and solar Decathlon House. Because of its geology factors, this site was almost isolated from the rest of the campus. To meet the adaptive living and educational environment, the site was proposed to develop to be more sustainable, accessible, and energyefficient. The proposal was set to rearrange the land use, build up the waste water treatment system, and enhance the social and cultural interaction. The global challenges of food shortage, land use urgent and water resources pollution are tightly linked to our daily life. For a critical number of countries, food production and sustainable land use is a survival issue. The purpose of this project was to demonstrates how agricultural landscape can become part of the urbanized environment and how sustainable identity can be built through an ordinary productive landscape.

Linlee Learning Center is a public high school locates in northwest of Lexington. This project required us to design a outdoor class room for students using various materials. My design was selected to be built in the learning center and is currently under construction. The purpose of this project is to engage student walking out the classroom and doing activities within this area. This design tries to create enclosure and interesting walking experiment and act the role of outdoor educational place.

Comprehending everything we’ve been taught from beginning, this project challenged us to put our design into practice. Strict constructional rules are required to be embodied in this project. With all information we gained from site inventory, analysis, and all elements of the project program, we would produce a complete set of construction documents. With my plan, a recreational therapeutic bike facility system is demonstrated. A curvy loop-back bike trail with lush vegetation system are provided for users of all kind. Areas of pedestrian activities and biking are separated in order to have a conflict-free circulation. A well-designed grading system enriches views and allows bio-retention systems to be embodied. This design manipulatively balanced the harmony of human recreation and ecology, aiming to brings refreshing and explorative experience for users.

Year: 2014 Fall Type: Academic (individual) Tutor: Jayoung Koo What gives a place its identity? What values can a greenway bring to the Bullitt County? How can the overall social and ecological quality of Bullitt County be increased? And how can the public desires of health, environment, and culture be fulfilled? With these questions, we identified our goals for developing the overall infrastructure through the design of recreational, educational, and sustainable landscapes. This project seeks comprehensive solutions by analyzing, planning, and incorporating with the county’s future development objectives. Based on the analysis, the design embodies sustainable and low-impact strategies in order to achieve ecological restoration along the greenway. With potential for recreational and educational use, the site can transform into public infrastructure that provides active biking, walking, and playing experiences.
