Beneath the ice at the bottom of the Earth is a magnificent subterranean labyrinth, a place of breathtaking wonders--and terrors beyond imagining. A team of specialists led by archaeologist Ashley Carter has been handpicked to explore this secret place and to uncover the riches it holds. But they are not the first to venture here--and those they follow did not return. There are mysteries here older than time, and revelations that could change the world. But there are also things that should not be disturbed--and a devastating truth that could doom Ashley and the expedition: they are not alone.

REVIEWS And suspenseful and thrilling story miles upon mile beneath the earth By James Rollin This book starts off fast, capturing your attention, sences, and every avalible second of your day. The charictar evolution in the book is not to the extreme, but you'll hardly notice it. The story line is extremly well planned out and researched. Outstanding Frigid Fiction!! By Jorge Martinez I purchased this book as a loyal Rollins fan, although I had found books outside the Sigma series to be a tad less exiting (e.g., Altar of Eden). This book was a pleasant surprise. The description of a world in crisis from the perspective of a deaf scientist was outstanding. The Russian Admiral's character also had surprising depth. In sum, a page turner that was impossible to put down.
