It is what we utilize to illuminate our lives as our contentment is deeply affected by the connections we establish with one another, mother nature, and the universe. With artistic endeavors, there is beauty in creation itself. We take pause in the release of constructive energy as it eventually ebbs against a new flow of endorphins entering our soul. It feels good to be imaginative and for some, this release alone procures contentment. For others, interaction and interconnectedness are essential to fully experience happiness. We are the latter. We need to connect with like-minded beings. We wish to share our stories and our creations with you. We want you to engage and interact, to experience a life with us that involves powder fields, best friends, high fives, the perfect handrail or the once in a lifetime helicopter. We would like to share something previously unimaginable. In a beautiful Austrian valley, located near the core of the alpine spirit, we have built the most advanced snowboard production facility in the world. It is called The CAPiTA Mothership, and we are very proud. Inside the sloping exterior shell, we have aimed at towering heights regarding what products we produce and how we will produce them. We have gone to great lengths to obliterate the existing status quo in snowboard production, as we realize that our pursuit of fun comes with great responsibility. Our hopes and dreams are that this facility will take us collectively into a better future, and we would like to invite you to join us on our journey ahead. The NH3 natural gas heating system has an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 0, with a COP (coefficient of performance) of 5. Which means that for every 1 unit of energy consumed by the system, 5 units of energy for heating and cooling is achieved. It’s like making the effort to spin 360 but landing a silky smooth 1800 instead. The Mothership is also designed to maximize the use of natural light during the day by having ample skylights and strategically placed interior cutaways throughout the entire facility — while energy efficient LED lighting acts as supplementary illumination where necessary. The company’s philosophy promotes sustainable initiatives, such as the use of reforestation certified wood cores and development of advanced recycling for industrial material. Healthier production techniques and materials will also be utilized, like water-based inks, plant-based resin and solvent-less finishing.

The eternal dark abyss — it lies in the depths of the Great Northern Sea and has a thirst to swallow men, captains and mates alike. Shipwrecks line the seafloor as silent monuments to the lives of the brave, and are symbolic reminders of the unreal power of the wind and waves. Since shipwrecks first shocked the world, the number of dead has grown beyond comprehension — now more death is required for our attention. While disputed by landlubbers, it has been known for centuries that the real danger to seafarers is not the weather alone. Giant beasts, insatiable even by the largest of sharks and whales, lurk in the depths below. These creatures transit the currents to find the crossing lanes of the largest of vessels. It has been said that they can stay submerged in a dormant state for weeks or months, only to awaken with the strength of Zeus and the rage of ten thousand Grizzly Bears. Tentacles that span from transom to bowsprit snap masts like twigs and trap corpses below decks as the hulls of great ships implode. What’s left is silence; nothing else is within reach. No waves and no wind. Only the memories of the dead as they drift into the darkness.

Mankind always understood that fear was an excellent motivator. It could compel people to do things otherwise impossible. Without fear, humans would never have evolved to the point of Singularity. But to recognize and rise above fear, to challenge and conquer the battle within and win â&#x20AC;&#x201D; that is a different kind of power. A power that is incorruptible and true. A power that will not lead its wielder astray. It was with this idea that Dr. Yamada founded the Ultrafear Program. With machines becoming ever more powerful, the MindMeld requirements to control them had become increasingly dangerous for average operators. The Ultrafear Programâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s task was to develop neo-humans that functioned at a constantly higher mental state than ordinary humans. To force this extreme form of evolution, stringently vetted volunteers underwent harsh psychological and cybercerebral conditioning. Their greatest and most private fears were exponentially amplified to the point of complete neuron meltdown. To counteract, and force-evolve, the volunteers were then injected intracerebrally with the soothing motivational sounds of CHUCK CREWS. Scientists developed The CC by combining two of the most revered get-you-pumped MFs on the planet from the Golden Age of the Internet: Chuck Norris and Terry Crews. With the CC injection, volunteers mastered their Ultrafears and ascended relatively side-effect free into the ranks of neo-humans. Several roundhouse kick incidents have been attributed to the program, but are still pending further investigation.

“Love is a dream my processor makes.” That is the only bit of solid data she allowed me to keep before she deleted my hard drive — and what’s left of my organic brain. She then replaced my memories with her version of reality. She was the real thing, a late 21st-century puppet master, and I was her willing marionette. She had all the premiere cyber upgrades, the ones you read about: an advanced government issue interface, military capabilities, and a luxury chassis you couldn’t take your eyes off of. She could hack a corporate bank account and drain it before they knew they had uploaded the credits. Some bits and pieces of our crime spree still flicker in and out of my conciousness. Images of star beams off the coast of San Bernadino, racing through the dead orange sky in a stolen lift-craft, and more Pan-Asian credits than could be spent in a thousand lifetimes. I don’t remember much of our adventures; she didn’t want that. But, the blank space in my brain didn’t remove the adrenaline from my veins. I sense that our time together was dangerous and that our purpose was awesome. INDOOR SURVIVAL

280 years after man began utilizing EIP Drives for intergalactic travel, The Rip, occurred. As the EIP engines became greater and greater in power, the larger the wormholes got. Culminating in the XPD192 Test, the largest engine built at the time, which was capable of opening a distortion large enough for a SuperNimitz Class Space Carrier. During the test a large riiiiiipppppppp was heard. Apparently the elasticity of space and time was much weaker than theorised. And quite accidentally, we came into contact with our first ultraterrestrial beings. They were quite surprised as well, as we happened to interrupt a family of four having a quiet midweek dinner with a very very very large spaceship armed to the teeth. Luckily they were incredibly understanding. They said it could’ve happened to anyone and that they were sorry there wasn’t enough meatloaf to go around. We promptly backed our carrier out of their living room and compensated them generously for all damages. November 21st, 2015 Yeeaaaaaa I totally had to splurge on this Chiso kimono when I was in Kyoto. After the debauchery that went down in St. Moritz, I felt like I needed to spoil myself with some refinement. I mean, the last nine months have been incredible. I’ve never felt so alive. Living single and anonymous. Waking up in a new city every week. It allowed me to reinvent myself and, you know, just kinda explored all the different parts of who I am. Whatever, yea I know I’ve been wasted half the time, but I guess that’s part of it. You gotta lose yourself to find yourself. Recently though I’ve wanted to get centred again. That’s why I’ve been spending all this time in Japan. Get zen and shit. 2130 AD When I was little, I loved going to the aquarium. All the other girls would be fawning over the otters and the belugas. But I made a beeline for the jellyfish exhibit. It was at the very end of the whole thing, so Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d get in trouble for running off every time. But it was worth it. I just sat there and stared at them while the rest of the class made their way through the tour. To me they were so fluid and full of magic. Elegant in their languidness. I imagined they were all giant underwater ships and I could climb up their tentacles and go inside. And the whole place would be a big circular couch made of marshmallows. I would sit there, munch on the marshmallow couch and look up thru the top of the jellyfishâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s head. We would be really deep, so it would be pretty much completely dark. But all kinds of bioflourescent fish would swim by like a whirling space disco. Those jellyfish, which I still love, were the inspiration for the design of the newly launched USS AIRTIME. The ion tentacle propulsion drive makes this ship the fastest and easiest to handle in its class.

In Japanese culture, an ensō is a circle that is hand-drawn in one simple, uninhibited, brushstroke to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. In fact, our origins started around the same time. CAPiTA was founded in 2000, the same year we traveled back east and coincidentally watched a thirteen-year-old Pat win the US OPEN junior jam. Clearly stacked with potential, Pat went on to sign with the Forum Youngblood team by age 15, and balanced homework in the Life Free or Die state, while filling the trophy cabinet full of awards over the ensuing years. JESS KIMURA PRO

The Lipizzan is a breed of horse currently associated with The Riding School of Vienna, Austria, where they demonstrate the haute ĂŠcole movements of classical dressage, including the highly controlled, stylized jumps and other movements known as the "airs above the ground." Dating back to the 14th century, the breed originally developed with the support of the Habsburg nobility to wage war against the Frizzan, a breed of Intergalactic Battle Kittens. The Frizzan adored the Lipizzan at first, amused by the challenge, but eventually became infatuated with the exquisite horses and demanded their love. In the Autumn of 1519, a rebuffed Frizzan unleashed a particle beam weapon powered with one hundred of Cupid's golden arrows. The agile Lipizzan soared into the sky and once struck by the love beam, harnessed the energy and returned an intensified blast of silver arrows back to the Kittens. High from the burst of affection, the Frizzan became docile and purred uncontrollably. They started blasting each other, and soon after, all living creatures began to fire love filled passion rockets into the sky. Fires of burning passion engulfed the airspace, and the great era of love began to rule the world.

SPRING BREAK

The concept with the Spring Break Powder series has always been to create a snow craft that is as much of a work of art as it is a functional snowboard. I would like these boards to be artifacts that we can contemplate back on years from now and remain just as unique and beautiful as they are today. Ideally these boards should look as good on the snow as they would in a gallery setting. Each shape in this new series is inspired directly by the primitive one-of-a-kind handmade boards I’ve created over the past year. Graphically I wanted to keep them clean and minimalist, not only to reflect much of the new contemporary artwork I’ve been creating, but to allow the shapes to speak for themselves. The SURFLITE CORE™ was designed exclusively for our new Spring Break Powder boards to create a strong, light, and buoyant core that floats to the top of the deepest powder. In surfboard design, a thicker more buoyant board will help the board float much easier than a thin dense one. With this inspiration we have developed and now evolved an industry-first core. As each Spring Break Powder board has a unique shape, each SURFLITE CORE™ features a unique alignment of Blocked Balsa and strategically placed Poplar throughout the board. In a development partnership with Union Binding Company, we have incorporated Forged Carbon Diamond Plates into the insert area of the core, creating the most high-tech and buoyant core of all time. Engineered specifically for our flagship model, this new core is a shining example of our Space Age technical supremacy. Designed using high yield materials, the HOVER CORE™ is so light it essentially floats across the snow. The DYNAWEAVE™ configuration features Triaxial fiberglass on the top of the core and Biaxial fiberglass beneath, creating more response while increasing strength and durability. Combine this layup with a specialized resin and one of the many additives we have available and you get a high performing board tailored to meet your style of riding.

SPECIAL BLEND is an eco-friendly wet lay-up process that uses our EVO-Resin component requiring lower consumption of energy and yielding higher technical properties. This adhesion process improves the factory’s working environment, as it does not contain some of the same harsh chemical characteristics used in resins at other factories around the world. This configuration uses an optimum blend of Biaxial fiberglass laminated in conjunction with structural additives to customize performance objectives. The FORM 6 glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 Biaxial fiberglass placed on both the base and topside of the core. Each layer has fibers oriented in zero and 90 degree angles laminated to increase energy and durability. This progressive glass configuration is laid up wet by hand during the lamination process and provides a durable predictable board that initiates turns easily, while retaining the pop necessary to handle variable conditions.

The all new OMEGA™ SPEED BASE is made with a new blend of compressed ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. The 2016/17 upgrades include improved transparency and increased density. Sintered for speed, this base is porous, absorbing more wax to wick longer and ride faster. And by fast, we mean — FAAAAST. The wax infused ENDURO™ BASE is a favorite in the CAPiTA collection because of its versatility. This base material strikes a unique and sought after balance between high performance and low maintenance. They are highly wax absorbent and allow longer time periods between waxing sessions. These bases are created by taking pellets of extra-high-molecular-weight Polyethylene and compressing them through heat and pressure. The minuscule spaces left behind absorb wax and allow for extended periods of high speed shredding as the wax wicks to the surface while you ride. This prevents your base from drying out and keeps the surface feeling freshly waxed throughout the day. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and are the preferred choice of pro snowboarders worldwide. The XXX[TRUDED]™ base material takes the characteristics and manufacturing techniques used in creating normal extruded base material but due to higher pressure and temperature, increases the surface hardness to levels near most sintered bases. This increases the durability and surface strength creating a base that will last longer and be more durable when jibbing and bombing around the mountain. We use a classic, time proven, extruded base material for our lower-priced utility boards. True to all extruded bases, the HMC bases are low maintenance, user-friendly bases that perform well with or without your constant waxing and attention. The HMC EXTRUDED is a special “higher molecular composition” base that is denser, more durable, and more abrasion resistant than standard extruded bases. The result is a hard, fast, and reliable base that will get you where you want to go. The HIGH TRANSPARENT EXTRUDED base features an altered molecular composition that allows more vibrant graphic options while keeping the low maintenance and technical benefits of extrusion.

Shearing layers are essential to a board’s durability. When the outer areas of a snowboard flex there are opposing forces that stress the construction layers. In order to reduce that amount of internal force a softer layer can act as a shock absorber. This thin layer of URETHANE placed between more rigid materials allow the board to flex without the risk of failure during impact. Damp, durable, and lighter than rubber, our new CORK EDGE DAMPENING SYSTEM is placed in between the steel edge and the ABS sidewall for increase protection from blunt force impacts. The Ultrafear features this exclusive dampening system underfoot where most boards meet rails, and the Scott Stevens Pro features a full contact length system because with him… you just never know what’s going to happen. With four Transworld Good Wood Awards in four years for the DOA series, it’s clear the performance and value of these boards are unmatched. In constant progression, we don’t sit idle in the R&D lab — awards or not. FORTRESS™ KEVLAR BOUND SIDEWALLS are bonded by a Kevlar “S” wrap from the top of the sidewall to the underside of the core. For 2016/17 a new Kevlar shape provides an even lighter weight technology that binds the sidewall and core material together like no other.

Technology integrated into snowboard construction affects many characteristics of a board’s performance. Flex, along with weight, stability, energy and other factors come into play when considering whether a board is right for you. Flex may be the most important as it will determine how you are able to manipulate your board on snow. Soft, flexible boards are greatfor jibbing and overall command over your snowboard, especially in the park. They’re easy to ride and very forgiving. All boards in this catalog are rated on a scale from 1 to 10. The number given is the estimated resistance the board may provide to the average customer.

All snowboard shapes are designed with four blend zones. This is the area after the sidecut ends and before the nose or tail shape starts. In this small section, the shape of the board must transition from a sidecut arc going one direction into the tip shape arc going in the opposite direction. This very important section of the board is similar to the steering system in your car. It's the driving force in initiating turns and determining where your board is going. A poorly designed blend zone will cause your board to be hooky or turn slowly, and could limit your ability to transition between edges. CAPiTA has taken the time to pay distinct attention to this detail; fine-tuning each and every board to make sure your riding experience is balanced and perfect. 171

SIDE CUT

Sidecut is the arching shape that the outer rails of the board take from the wide points near the nose and tail toward the narrow point in the middle of the board. Sidecut dictates the board's turning functionality along with the personality of a snowboard.

PROGRESSIVE

A true PROGRESSIVE sidecut consists of two or more radii blended together to accommodate the three stages of a turn. They provide easy turn initiation, while offering greater control throughout the turn and maximum power when exiting.

WARPSPEED SUPERNOVA

Our NEW AGE DIRECTIONAL sidecuts are progressive sidecuts, which also incorporate a reverse sidecut arc in the midsection of the board. Due to a reduced effective edge as a result of hybrid camber shapes, this reverse camber arc provides a point of contact to retain control throughout the turn and is affectionately referred to as DEATH GRIP™.

A RADIAL sidecut is a single radius design that allows your board to start and finish a turn on the same arc.

BLENDED RADIAL sidecuts feature a single radius arc through the midsection of the board combined with a custom designed blend zone at the contact points. Varying the length of these blend zones and tailoring them specifically for certain aspects of riding greatly improves a board’s performance.

Inspired by a combination of surfboard design and on snow riding functionality, the all new SURF BLENDED RADIAL sidecut is the ultimate powder surfing shape. This shape features a radial sidecut just through and past the inserts, followed by a huge smooth reverse blend zone and then topped off with a ton of taper. Surf the earth and get loose in the white room! Engineered for deep powder but still versatile around the mountain, this radial sidecut is complemented by a tapered tail. This narrower tail section naturally sinks in the powder while the wider nose section floats above the snow line. The result is less work and more fun as the board surfs on one smooth continual arc. An ASYMMETRICAL board features different sidecut theories on each edge of the same board. For the 2016/17 Spring Break Asymmetrical Twin, we have implemented a large and smooth Radial sidecut for the toe-side edge of the board while the heel-side edge of the board features a tighter NEW AGE DIRECTIONAL sidecut with DEATH GRIP™. With CAPiTA’s FLAT KICK design technology we’ve tightened the tip profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the tip and tail height on reverse camber boards. The tight tip radius in conjunction with tuned blend zones allows you to have a forgiving easy to ride reverse camber board that is still responsive and quick during edge-to-edge transitions. This also creates a flat tipand tail which increases jibbing stability and also helps the board plane on top of powder creating float and control.

Voltron was awesome because it was one robot made up of a bunch of other robots. Sometimes if we find utilizing a single technique just isn’t enough, we open up the armory and stack one process on top of another!

As base material is thicker and more opaque than topsheets, graphics become more vibrant when ink impregnates the material as opposed to other techniques where the ink is applied to one side or the other. Through sublimation, ink sits closer to the sliding surface and this technique excels when full colors are required. Many long nights were spent tinkering with a complex combination of cook-times, pressure and temperature in a highly controlled environment to achieve some of CAPiTA’s signature base graphics.

The PLT™ machine sits in a secret hidden corner of the factory behind two very unassuming, nondescript metal doors. The PLT™ is so secretive that with the exception of its inventor, Mr. Michi Kollmann, all visitors to the room must be versed in an ever-changing secret handshake. PLT™ technology is exclusive to CAPiTA MFG and magically bonds the topsheet to an already pressed snowboard. This is magical because the rest of the world mashes their topsheets on with glue, heat and pressure during the pressing stage. Doing so causes the fiberglass structure underneath to show through the topsheet. And because nobody wants to spend their hard earned cash on a bumpy snowboard, many companies slather their tops with a thick toxic lacquer to smooth things out. Not only is that shit HEAVY and can potentially develop unsightly hairline cracks, it’s also really unhealthy for the working environment.
