I was raised in Japan’s snow kingdom, Hokkaido. Going skiing or snowboarding was the only thing anyone did. Naturally, my whole life centred around snowboarding. It all started on my sixth birthday when my parents gave me my first snowboard. Looking back on it, I honestly believe that this board was a gift from God. Shredding with Kazuhiro Kokubo, Takaharu Nakai, and other snowboarding greats, they pushed me to become better, and I am here now because of them. My life right now is the best I could ever imagine it to be. Without my board and the snow, I am nothing.

Today I am just leaving the life of my dream. Traveling, meeting new people, seeing new places and having exciting projects. I am living every day, just day by day and trying to get the best out of it. I started skiing as a kid and then found out that snowboarding was what fitted me. No pools, no slalom, just total freedom and a different mentality. I found snowboarding really exciting, the fact I was improving every day, learning new tricks, grabs and spins etc. Being outside with friends and doing sport every day, was what pushed me to keeping doing it and brought me where I am today. You have got to follow your dreams!

I still remember how I got into snowboarding. I was around 12 or 13 years old and we went skiing on our local mountain. I always liked winter and mountains but I knew something was missing. I remember watching older guys on snowboards and thought there is something special about it. I asked my parents to get a snowboard for my birthday. They bought me an old setup, but I couldn`t be happier. As soon as I did my first turn I was hooked for life. Right now I cant imagine my life without it, because pretty much everything what I do is somehow connected to snowboarding. Even when I just walk around the city I always search for possible spots and think about different ways to hit some random feature that was never meant for snowboarding. I think that’s one of the greatest things about it. It gives you a whole new perspective of looking at things.

Every winter my idea of snowboarding is about waking up in the morning knowing that no matter how the conditions are my only goal is to make the day feel like an adventure.Throughout my career I have been fortunate enough to see different aspects of snowboarding and what I have learned is that there is no written out formula you must do. It has taken me from the contest gates to big mountain lines. But snowboarding has given me much more than just the actual riding. I have made lot of friends and seen many different countries. What I have been seeking lately is to be able to push my riding to the new level in places that require lot of learning and most importantly Im still keeping up to my idea of riding. Making the best out of every turn!

Detuned edges

Detuned edges on tip and tail prevents the snowboard from catching edges, and gives an extra buttery feeling while riding. If you’re going to hit boxes, rails, or walls, this is the perfect feature for you.
Carbon rods A single centered carbon strip positioned from tip to tail covering the entire length of the board, offering a symmetrical power transmission and a powerful pop without tampering the torsional stiffness of the board. In other words: more flex, pop and reactivity to your ride.
Blunt shape This particular shape improves overall control of the board by keeping the full contact length, but shrinking the actual board size. The shape comes with a straight cut on the tip and tail areas, which makes the board shorter than a regular board. This reduces weight and improves rotation. The end result is a lightweight, playful board, ideal for freestyle maneuvers but great in all other types of terrain.

Drake’s own way of creating reverse camber over the board. Delivered from the Smiley concept, it offers a reverse free camber shape creating a constant arch from tip to tail which comes in 6mm higher when compared to a regular snowboard. Boards ride smoother, minimizing edge catching on take offs and landings, allowing great nose and tail presses and taking sensation to a whole new level. Directional Twin
Tip and tail area on these boards are the same width. Tail is usually shorter than the tip and the inserts are slightly offset toward the tail of the board.

The tip of a directional snowboard is different from its tail. The tail is usually narrower, shorter, and flatter that the tip of the board. Stance is offset toward the tail of the board. These boards are primarily meant to be ridden in one direction.
Skate Camber
Son of the Pow camber technology, but much more jib oriented. It comes with a flat area between the feet, perfect for hitting the rails and sliding the boxes, but without losing the pop because of the two cambers outside of the inserts. It becomes flat again to be perfect for presses and leave the board forgiving.
Blunt
This particular shape improves overall control of the board by keeping the full contact length, but shrinking the actual board size. The shape comes with a straight cut on the tip and tail areas, which makes the board shorter than a regular board. This reduces weight and improves rotation. The end result is a lightweight, playful board, ideal for freestyle maneuvers but great in all other types of terrain.

540°HEEL RETENTION SYSTEM
The boot laces pass through pre-curved lace loops which helps the lace minimize its friction. When the laces are pulled to close the boot, they are at the same time pulling the webbings where the lace loops are linked. In this way the webbings shrink around the ankle, increasing heel stability. They can do this operation in a perfect way thanks to the fact that the webbing is passing through a hole from the side of the boot directing the pressure of closure all over the ankle area. The more the lace is pulled the more power will be transferred in the ankle area, increasing the heel retention performance and foot stability.
360° HEEL HOLD SYSTEM
A complete wrap of the ankle… anchored to the heel of the boot, laces run through a brass or nylon loop to wrap around the heel to lock the ankle in place.

The ability of creating a boot which is able to flex in a progressive way required years of studies, experience on the snow, and many laboratory tests. The Flex window enhances the comfort and mobility of the foot, and it perfectly represents the balance between the power of transmission and a progressive flex. The side parts of the collar area slide on the upper transferring the power in a constant way avoiding any possible overlapping between materials which could lead to a waste of energy.
THERMO WELDING
We’ve been the first in the world of snowboard boot production working on Thermowelded Piping. This technology brings Northwave distinct advantages both in terms of enabling us to integrate different materials and maintain an ‘element beating’ seamless outsole. This is particularly important in the ankle zone where there is no interruption of the upper boot technology bringing you, the rider, and progressive support from the heel to the calf. The visible asymmetrical y differentiates the three zones: it provides a stronger support on the outside for increased control when pressing, buttering and spinning; more flexibility on lateral inner boot; and lighter still above.

The new Lightstep Outsole is the result of long research and development looking for performing materials with a specific weight lower than average sole materials. The outsole is now 35% lighter compared to a traditional snowboard outsole. It can keep a perfect grip thanks to the new structure and to the new gripping design geometry, which has been studied with innovative materials, in order guarantee a higher abrasion resistance. On top of that, it provides a perfect thermal isolation, protecting feet from the cold outside, and it constantly cushions every vibration and impact.
