Hawthorne Senior Center
The Hawthorne Senior Center is located directly behind the Hawthorne Memorial Center at
3901 el Segundo boulevard, Hawthorne. Parking in the rear. entrance on Prairie avenue.
(310) 349-1650 Hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm .
walking 101
improve your overall health by incorporating active walking into your daily routine. whether you want to burn calories, improve your cardiovascular health, or simply want something fun to do, join us for this interactive and fun class that will kick off your day in a great way. participants will walk the perimeter of the gymnasium at their own pace while grooving to music. class instructions: wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, and bring a bottle of water. all participants are required to complete an emergency form.

arts & Crafts
Join us for a fun hour of drawing, crafting and socializing. all materials will be provided.

Pickleball 101
Join us and learn to play the sport that is quickly gaining popularity across the country. pickleball is a sport created around the idea of badminton and ping-pong. participants will learn the rules and fundamentals of the sport through drills, games, and lessons in order to prepare for match play. all equipment will be provided. class instructions: wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, and bring a bottle of water. all participants are required to complete an emergency form.

bingo
Join us for bingo and play for a chance to win great prizes. Bingo cards will be provided.

tai Chi
tai chi is a martial art system of calisthenics that originated in china, consisting of sequences of slowcontrolled movements practiced as exercises. this ancient form of martial arts improves strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning and balance. participants will learn basic forms, movements, and breathing patterns in order to create harmony between the mind and body. class instructions: wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, and bring a bottle of water. all participants are required to complete an emergency form.
Senior Center Happenings
■ billiard room the billiard room is available monday through friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. ■ Computer room the computer room is available monday through friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, to a limited number of seniors at a time. come in to reserve for 1 hour increments.
■ lunch Program the lunch program is provided by the torrance ymca each wednesday serving 7 frozen meals, fruit and milk from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Seniors,
please call torrance ymCa at (310) 602-4905 to
sign up. the meals are distributed by walk up at the hawthorne senior center, back door from the parking lot. seniors must be on the list in order to receive lunches every wednesday. hot meals are to resume on January 17, 2023. frozen meals will continue as a pickup for those that are not participating in sit-down meals. seniors can do one or the other, not both.
