InterGeneration Coliving

The first concept I want to share is "intergenerational co-living". To put it simply, inter-generational cohabitation means that the elderly and young people live together. What's special is that the unit where you live is based on a shared model. Everyone has their own space and shares spaces such as the living room and kitchen. In the design, inter-generational co-housing also takes into account the actual needs of multiple people living together and the living of the elderly, and makes corresponding supporting facilities, such as good sound insulation and non-slip flooring.
Precedents around world Hongkong Regarding housing issues, inter-generational co-living simultaneously responds to the urgent needs of young people and the elderly. In recent years, housing in Hong Kong has become more and more expensive, but at the same time new units have become smaller and smaller, making young people feel that development space is hard to find. On the other hand, Hong Kong’s population is aging. In the near future, one-third of people will be older than 65. However, apart from nursing homes, there are not many options and unsatisfactory conditions. With regard to the above two points, inter-generational co-living can not only provide the elderly with an alternative to nursing homes, but at the same time provide young people with affordable and sized living space to meet the needs of both generations.

Precedents around world Germany Opposite the railway station in Nuremberg, Germany, there was still loess 10 years ago. During World War II, 7 bombs fell and it was devastated. Nowadays, novel yellow arc-shaped buildings stand above the ruins. Home". In addition to housing, there are also living facilities such as a bakery and kindergarten, and elders and single parents are also welcome. The miserable place of the year has become a warm residence for generations. The German government attaches great importance to generational integration and multi-generational interaction. It promotes multi-generation co-living houses (Cohouse) through the construction or reconstruction of old buildings through private cooperatives, emphasizing that different generations and ethnic groups live together under the same roof and take care of each other.

If I did not open the curtains for two days, or confiscated the dried clothes, the neighbor on the other side would call me and ask me, "What's wrong?"

The core goal of the Multi-Generation Inclusive Space Project is to provide open spaces where people of different generations can get together.

Precedents around world United States If retired old people want to move to a collective environment to live, there must be only retired old people. This seems to have become a rule. But some older people are challenging this concept. They have chosen intergenerational cohousing, which means living with people of different ages, including singles, DINK couples, and families with children.

“You have a choice between privacy and community, said Charles Durrett, 57, an architect who has designed more than 50 cohousing communities, including the one where he lives in Nevada City, Calif. The community has 34 units, and out of around 100 residents, about 20 are age 55 to 95, he said.
