New York State’s largest wildlife refuge is a haven for wildlife and is filled with well-maintained trails where hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing can all be enjoyed. The Refuge also features a wonderful interpretive nature center that provides year-round education. A favorite activity by visitors is bald eagle spotting at different locations – watch them soar in the sky above or reside in their nests.

This 1810 stone building is home to the Holland Land Office Museum and offers thousands of artifacts pertaining to the history of Western New York. Batavia is known as the “birthplace of Western New York” because out of the Holland Land Office came the sales and disbursement of over 3.3 million acres of land.
