irst the home of Jacob LeRoy, land agent for the 86,000 acre Triangle Tract in the 1820s, the museum offers exhibits including the 1830s open hearth kitchen and the LeRoy bedroom.

Come and discover the intriguing story of Jell-O America’s Most Famous Dessert. Invented in LeRoy in 1897, Jell-O has a unique history. Why did the inventor sell his rights to Jell-O for $450? Who bought the rights to Jell-O and made millions of dollars? Who eats the most Jell-O? What’s the favorite flavor? What happened to the Jell-O factory in LeRoy? Who tested Jell-O for brain waves - and what’s more intriguing - why?

Learn about the eccentric Rev. Samuel Cox, noted abolitionist, who lived in the house during the 1850s while serving as Chancellor of Ingham University - the first university for women in the United States, located in LeRoy. Explore the children’s room, the Morganville Pottery room, and the Boarding House room from the 1880s. Look for the “hands-on” signs for children’s activities. Threatened by demolition, the house was donated to the LeRoy Historical Society in 1942, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

At Th e H i s t o r i c a l S o c i e t y The LeRoy Historical Society offers a 1 7 mile Underground Railroad driving tour leaflet. Ask at the Museum shop. Make sure to see the new “On the Road” exhibit while visiting the Jell-O Gallery. A fascinating exhibit of vehicles from an ox cart to a 1908 Cadillac. Explore 100 years of transportation.
