here are many key words with which you can discover Arezzo, a Tuscan city rich in history, art and traditions. It was an Etruscan town, you can see traces of the Roman age, be amazed by art, with works by the great Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca and by the genius and architectural skill of Vasari. It is the city where Guido Monaco taught music and went on to make the modern musical note system with the invention of the tetragram. Francesco Petrarca and his poetry were born in this city. Arezzo is also a city of Antiques with a fair which is the biggest and oldest in Italy. Then there is the Saracino Joust, a horseriding joust which was cited by Dante. Around the squares, streets, shops and corners of the historic centre Roberto Benigni shot scenes of the film “La Vita è bella” Oscar winner in 1997.

Piccola perla della Valdichiana, di origini etrusche e romane è un borgo medievale con eleganti e prestigiosi palazzi con l’intervento nel ’500 di Andrea Contucci detto Sansovino, grande scultore ed architetto. Da vedere Porta Fiorentina progettata dal Vasari, il Cassero con il Museo della Ceramica, l’arte nelle chiese dove si ammirano opere dei Della Robbia, un ciclo di affreschi di Spinello Aretino e l’Assunzione di Giorgio Vasari.

10 Sasso di Simone - Riserva Naturale nel comune di Sestino, caratterizzata dalla presenza di due massicci calcarei che la dominano, il Sasso di Simone e il Simoncello. 11 Pieve di Romena - è una delle più belle pievi della Toscana. In stile romanico, con abside, dove bifore e trifore al mattino fanno passare lame di luce che illuminano l’interno. 12 Della Robbia - la famiglia dei Della Robbia ha lasciato numerose testimonianze d’arte su tutto il territorio aretino. Uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia, posto sulla pendice di una collina da cui si gode una splendida vista sulla Valtiberina. Il suo nome è legato alla celebre Battaglia di Anghiari del 1440, combattuta nella piana di Anghiari tra truppe milanesi e la Repubblica di Firenze. Fu dipinta da Leonardo da Vinci nel salone di Palazzo Vecchio a Firenze.
