On the first Sunday of the month and the Saturday which precedes it is the Antique Fair. 3 Santa Maria della Pieve Church - with its unmistakable bell tower called “of the hundred holes”. 4 Casa Vasari - Giorgio Vasari’s house, an example of a late Renaissance artist’s house. 5 Cimabue Crucifix - dated around 12651270 it is housed inside the church of San Domenico. It is a masterpiece. 6 Archeological Museum - evidence of Etruscan civilization and the extraordinary skill in metal work and pottery. here are many key words with which you can discover Arezzo, a Tuscan city rich in history, art and traditions. It was an Etruscan town, you can see traces of the Roman age, be amazed by art, with works by the great Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca and by the genius and architectural skill of Vasari. It is the city where Guido Monaco taught music and went on to make the modern musical note system with the invention of the tetragram. Francesco Petrarca and his poetry were born in this city. Arezzo is also a city of Antiques with a fair which is the biggest and oldest in Italy. Then there is the Saracino Joust, a horseriding joust which was cited by Dante. Around the squares, streets, shops and corners of the historic centre Roberto Benigni shot scenes of the film “La Vita è bella” Oscar winner in 1997.
