Adam Curie is a Quaker who has applied his social science background mainly to problems of poverty and conflict in economically deprived countries. Among other university posts, he was the first Professor of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford. He has studied Tibetan philosophy and Sufism. He gave the Swarthmore Lecture in 1981.
