Late September issue 1
Welcome to the first issue of Quality Time Radio’s online magazine. We wanted to give another medium to promote the artists on our show as well as just have another way to exhibit our art. This issue features the very talented group Soular System, who’s music we featured on our last show, but you can also find on their Soundcloud and social media which is located under their interview. Tune in next week to see how the show progresses; we’ll have more sick up and coming artists to share.

Soular System Genre: Neo-Soul Hometown: Long Beach Members: Anthony Lynn, Tom Kendall Hughes What do you feel the main influences in your music come from?
What milestones have you met so far?
TKH: The inspiration for our music is life experiences, and things we’ve gone through. I’m really inspired by the simple things in life: having a nice day, birds singing, going for a walk... Really simple things can be inspiring if you take them the right way.
TKH: Years down the road, I think looking back the most important shows will be the ones that were the most intimate like the ones that we’re doing right now. Where we look out and see everybody we know.
How do you feel that growing up in Long Beach shaped your music? AL: When it comes to Long beach, you got all these different kinds of ethic backgrounds, so you’re introduced to different sorts of music. TKH: Especially at Poly, man. AL: A lot of what happened for music with me went down at Long Beach Poly. Being around different kinds of people playing hip hop, and then being in the jazz program, vocal jazz, and then getting a taste of classical. You know, just knowing where shit really comes from. TKH: Long Beach is a huge arts community. Everyone has a different thing that they’re into and that they’re very passionate about. There’s not many people that I meet that don’t listen to music. So you’re always going to find out new things. Everything in one city... we’re really blessed to be here, man. It’s like LA without the drama.
What was the creative process like for creating Summer Solstice? AL: The process was, a lot of the time, Tom showing me an idea or a beat that he’s had. He maybe didn’t have any idea what he was gonna do with it, and I heard it was like ‘I feel like I could write to this’. TKH: The way it usually happens is production is first, the beat that I wrote. He’ll hear it and we’ll come up with lyrics together, or I’ll have a poem... It really comes together very organically. If you guys could work with anyone in the industry, who would it be with, and why? AL: I would work with Anderson Paak just because I listen to him everyday. I love his ideas and think he probably has a great personality. TKH: A guy who goes by the producer name ChomadaData. His name is Ian Jones... nobody knows about him man, it’s so sad. Anyone who’s [reading] this check him out, you won’t be able to stop vibing to him.
