Please read the information on our website here about funding to support Study Exchanges in 2023-24. When your School notifies the Global Opportunities Team that you have been selected for a Study Exchange, the Team will email you and invite you to apply for an International Student Mobility Grant via an online form
International Student Mobility Grant
While you are abroad you should continue to receive in full the normal funding (eg student loan or maintenance grant) that you would have received if you had been spending that period in Belfast In addition, you should be eligible for an International Student Mobility Grant, which will be paid to you by the Global Opportunities Team at Queen’s.
Please note that the International Student Mobility Grant is only supposed to be a top-up to the source of funding which you are already living on at Queen’s. It should in no way be seen as a lucrative scholarship

International Student Mobility Grant - How much, when and how?
The UK’s participation in the Erasmus programme came to an end on 31 May 2023. This is due to the UK government’s decision not to associate to the new Erasmus programme following Brexit. As a result, Queen’s will be unable to offer Erasmus mobility grants to its students in 2023-24
The UK government has introduced the Turing Scheme, a new national funding scheme to support international study and work placements. Funding is limited and is awarded to UK universities on an annual basis, following a competitive application process. Universities are normally notified of the outcome of their application in late summer
Based on its applications in the first two years of the Turing Scheme, the University anticipates that it will have a limited amount of Turing funding available for students in 2023-24. However, the University Management Board has made a commitment to provide Turing or equivalent funding to all students undertaking an international study exchange at a partner university in 202324, provided they meet any eligibility criteria. Your International Student Mobility Grant for 2023-24 may therefore be funded through the Turing Scheme or by Queen’s University Belfast. In either case, it will be distributed by the Global Opportunities Team at Queen’s.
The International Student Mobility Grant rates for 2023-24 are detailed below They vary depending on the country in which your host university is based Funding is only available for activity during the period 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024.
