GUWA-KOA STATEMENT

The Guwa-Koa Traditional Owners are pleased to partner with the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival and Kolperi Outback Filmmaking program once again to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Festival. As the custodians and original storytellers of the Guwa-Koa land, we welcome the continued focus on First Nations to ensure that regional and emerging filmmakers build capacity to tell uniquely Australian stories. Over the years, Uncle Frank, Aunty Minnie and I have enjoyed providing hands-on mentoring and leadership for the Festival and Griffith Film School students and alumni and contributing to preserving GuwaKoa cultural heritage through cultural exchange sessions that run throughout their experience in Winton.
