SHEP QUEENSLAND

Concert 5 Sunday 4 October 2020, 11.50 am Conservatorium Theatre

DIRECTOR'S WELCOME We are delighted to welcome our SHEP Queensland cohort of 900 emerging musicians to Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University’s state of the art South Bank facilities. We trust you will enjoy your experience with us. Now a firmly established aspect of music education in Queensland, SHEP has grown from relatively modest beginnings in 2001 to hosting over 4,500 students throughout Queensland each year; with many more being nominated than we are able to accommodate. Congratulations to all involved. In 2020 we are again pleased to offer a Big Band and Symphony Orchestra; along with 3 Wind Ensembles, 3 Vocal Ensembles, 2 String Ensembles and a Guitar Ensemble. Participants travel to Brisbane from the Border to the Cape and from as far west as Mount Isa, representing 172 secondary schools. Our 11 SHEP Queensland clinicians (and 3 AHEP clinicians) are all esteemed Queensland clinicians. This year we are particularly pleased that so many families and schools have been willing, and able, to participate in our programs and thank all involved for their continued support of music education throughout the State. Welcome to SHEP Queensland 2020. We hope to see many of you return as students, performers and audience members in the future. [Young Conservatorium] gave me opportunities to perform on various stages and concert halls. I remember having to perform at the Queen St Mall for the first time which was really exciting for a 10 year old kid. Dami Im Eurovision Finalist
