PLAYING TIME DEFINITION Playing time is not guaranteed. At Quickstrike playing time is earned. There are many factors that are attributed to earning playing time that the coach will address at the beginning of the season. The key factors in earning playing time are: commitment, work ethic, effective performance and coachability. The sole decision maker on playing time is the Head Coach of the team. All Quickstrike coaches will do their best to be fair with every single player of the team in regard to playing time. KEY FACTORS: What they mean … Commitment: As a player you must be committed to the process. This includes being punctual, accountable, following the dress code and attending all Team/Program Events. Work Ethic: A strong work ethic is vital to a team/club in achieving its goals. Every player must have a good work ethic to keep the team/club functioning at its peak. A work ethic is a set of moral principals a player uses on and off the field. Certain factors come together to create a strong work ethic. 1. Integrity: Players with integrity not only have a positive effect on a team, but they act as role models for the entire club. Players in their sportsmanship and behavior best exemplify integrity during training and games. They play fairly, respect the game, the officials’ decisions and their opponents. They earn the respect of their opponent during competition. When they do something, they do it with conviction and do it right with their best effort. 2. Sense of Responsibility: A strong sense of responsibility affects how a player works and the amount of work they do. When the player feels personally responsible for their performance, they show up on time, put in their best effort and compete to the best of their ability. 3. Emphasis on Quality: Players with a strong work ethic care about the quality of their performance. They do their best to push themselves, not do the bare minimum of what is needed. The player’s commitment to their personal development improves the team/club's overall quality. 4. Discipline: It takes a certain level of commitment to finish your tasks every day. A player with good discipline stays focused on their goals and is determined to reach their goals. These players show a high level of dedication to the team/club, always ensuring they do their part. 5. Sense of Teamwork: Players have to work together to meet a team/club's goals. A player with a high sense of teamwork helps a team meet its goals and deliver quality work. These players respect their teammates and help when they can, making collaborations easier. Effective Performance: Being an effective player means you have the ability to apply what is learned during training to game situations. Coachability: Characteristics of a coachable player are: 1. Being grateful that someone cares enough about you to push you to improve beyond where you would get on your own. 2. Being vulnerable enough to know you’re not perfect. 3. Being open to honest feedback (even if it hurts). 4. Working to actively change bad habits. Copyright 2007 Quickstrike F.C. All rights reserved.
