Willem de Kooning donated this image titled “Devil on a Keyboard” to the Rainbow Art Foundation in June 1976. The Rainbow Art Foundation is an organization which helps young and new printmakers. The R.A.F. has informed us that this is indeed a historical piece since de Kooning himself worked on it. The image was made into a nine color lithograph print in an edition of 70 signed and numbered prints. De Kooning then added the word Rainbow to the image and signed and numbered 125 pieces which is this edition.

This Is America

Jojo Anavim Solo Exhibition March 18 - April 26, 2020 Opening Reception: Wednesday March 18th, 2020 Quidley & Company, Naples, FL Blurring the line between mass consumerism and fine art, New York City based artist Jojo Anavim presents his first gallery solo exhibition outside of New York City. Anavim, who is known for transforming mundane objects and brand packaging into boldly colored, vibrant paintings will be showcasing some of his most celebrated works created over the last three years. Fueled by his fascination with the American cultural landscape, the works imitate the familiar aesthetics of conventional advertisements with a twist. The resulting works present a potent visual journal of everyday consumer objects and brands infused with nostalgic pop culture imagery. The show will also serve as the platform for Anavim’s first ever print release. “I think it’s important to get your artwork out into the world and with this print release it will be accessible to more including new collectors.” Anavim said.

Jojo Anavim

(American, b. 1984) New York City based artist Jojo Anavim has established his body of work stemming from a background in consumer marketing and brand development. Previously a creative consultant for brands such as W Hotels, and Universal Music Group, Anavim crossed over to fine art in 2013. His work continually employs rich and vibrant color palettes, vintage ephemera, alongside subversive and playful imagery paying homage to contemporary art greats Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns. As a child Anavim enrolled in art classes taught by Disney animator Al Baruch, creator of the legendary characters Captain Hook and Mighty Mouse. Anavim credits Baruch with instilling a creative confidence that led him to embrace art as more than a hobby early in his life. Much of Anavim’s work depict the nostalgia of the brands and packaging he was surrounded by during this time – down to the LifeSavers his grandmother would always carry in her purse. Anavim’s artworks are part of permanent collections in museums and hotels around the globe – including Dream’s Downtown and Midtown Hotel, New York, NY; Coca-Cola Archives Museum, Atlanta, GA; New York Yankees City Seats Collection, New York, NY; and Surf Lodge Hotel, Montauk, NY. Anavim is also recognized for his commissions for NBA players, business moguls and top-charting musicians including Amar’e Stoudemire, Seth McFarlane, Selena Gomez, Big Sean, Sheldon Adelson, Paris Hilton and Daymond John. Anavim’s work has been covered by global media publications including The New York Times, New York Post, Business Insider and Forbes – all highlighting the success of his career.
