tHe most important tHings to consider wHen cHoosing tHe camera guy... EXPERIENCE: How long has he/she been doing this? Also, is this his/her full time job or just a hobby? PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE - Fun, formal, artisitic, journalistic, all the above, etc... HONESTY - Is this the photographer that will be photographing your quinceañera or will they send in whomever is available. Don’t be shocked, this happens more often than you can imagine. HIS PERSONALITY - Do you get along with him/her? Is there “chemistry”? If you don’t, it will show in your pictures. APPEARENCE - Ask him/her what will wear the day of the event... NO JEANS PLEASE!!! DELIVERY - How long does he/she take to deliver your album? Believe it or not, some of them take more than a year! CONTRACT - Do you understand the contract? Make sure everything is written. Read it ALL. REFERENCES - A personal reference is always the best and people love to talk. Get a list of references from the photographer and check them out personally. A photographer who doesn’t have references or is afraid to give them to you may not be the person that you want to hire.

How many hours does the price include? Does it include the tip for the driver? does the price include drinks? (soft drinks and water of course!)if not can i bring my own? • How much is the limo ride? • How much is the party bus ride? 28

The good:
•YOU CAN INVITE your friends and family. you get to see everybody you want. •HAVING A QUINCEANERA is something that is very traditional. it’s one of the greatest memories for you and your family. •NOTHING CAN REPLACE the feeling that for a day you’re a princess and no one can change that. not even a car, or a trip. •YOU GET TO BE A PRINCESS FOR A DAY. no one will be able to tell you otherwise because it’s not their party. •EVERYTHING IS HOW YOU WANT IT TO BE.you pick the chambelanes, the dress, the music. it can be whatever you want it to be.
The Bad:
•It only lasts a few hours. •You can get really stressed out planning it. •It can cost an arm and a leg.
The trip The good:
•IT LASTS LONGER than the party. •YOU GET TO SEE new places . •YOU CAN GO TO A PLACE you have always dreamed of. •YOU CAN TAKE A SHORT TRIP OF 6 HOURS OR LESS away. because you will have your friends with you, you know you’re gonna have a good time. •A GOOD memory. •IT CAN BE AN ADVENTURE. 42
JANUARY – JUNE 2012
The Bad: •You can make that trip at anytime in your life. •It can also cost you an arm and a leg.

Quinceaneras Magazine held the Austin Cover Girl contest last October 23rd at The North Austin Event Center, with the participation of 15 beautiful young girls ages between 13 and 16. All girls received training for more than a month by D’Ensueno Modeling coaches. This training included how to walk the runway, how to pose, how to smile, how to look at judges and people, and how to answer questions. They also made an intro choreography by “La Academia de Jazz” by Pabel dancing to a song from the 80’s “Born to be Alive”. The music was entertained by one of the best Texas DJ’s “Solrac” from San Antonio. And the honor to be the MC one more time was for Jose Navarro, San Antonio’s “Maestro del Vals”.

“A new national survey finds that Latinos between the ages of 16 and 25 are satisfied with their lives and optimistic about their futures. They value education, hard work and career success. But they are more likely than other youths to drop out of school, live in poverty and become teen parents.”*
