A complete guide to become Miss Photogenic of your own party
Alright so you have the location the theme and what you’re going to wear, what’s next? Well I’m going to show you how to put everything together. You want to be extremely prepared so that the day of the photo shoot you don’t forget anything. Let’s start with a list; write down everything you’re going to need, and always take extras. After you are done with the list try practicing your pose and taking a few selfies, you want to make sure your posing is great. Then you want to start setting up the things you will need for the photo shoot. I usually like to place everything in a visible area in my room, so I won’t forget it. Once all of that is taking care of, its time to give your self a spa day.
Try making a fun facial mask with your sisters or mom and give each other mani pedis. You want to have a relaxing day before your photo shoot so that you won’t look tired or have bags under your eyes. Now to finish put your alarm on and try waking up two hours before the photo shoot, that way you have time to get ready and deal with any fallouts. Okay girls I hope you learned a little something about photo shoots and hope yours turns out great.
Photo Shoot Perfection Photo By: MP Video Productions
Open your eyes, start looking around, you’ll may find the perfect spot
Location is really important you don’t just want to do a photo session in your back yard. You want a place that will make you stand out and make the picture look amazing. I’m going to give you some suggestions to make that photo session amazing. You always want o look for natural lighting and open spaces like parks, Hotels with great view, deserts, a beach, lakes, and even neighborhoods could be great. Try to keep your eyes open when going out, you never know when you will see something you like. What I like to do is take a picture of the places I like and write down the address. I’m the type of person that always brings her camera, because you never know what can inspire you. Well girls I hope to see beautiful pictures on the page soon.
MakeUp Let’s talk about what type of makeup you should wear to a photo shoot. They are many different makeup brands and so many makeup looks out there, so how are you ever going to choose? Well I start by looking at my outfit and the style that I want to show. When doing this you must always remember not to be matchy matchy , it does not look good. What I mean by that is if you have a pink dress don’t try to match your eye shadow with it. Instead try a basic color like brown, black, or even gray. Staying with natural colors can help bring out your eyes and accessories your dress. Make up can be a bit scary and sometime over whelming if you are not a pro; luckily we have professionals to help. Today you could pretty much find makeup artist anywhere. So if you are not sure how good you are with make up I suggest a makeup artist. Now if you feel like you could do it on your own I’m going to suggest some great products for photo shoots.
Product #1 foundation this product is very important. On the day of the photo
shoot you want to look flawless so you need something with full coverage try Mac face and body or Laura Mercier Silk crème foundation.
Product #2 Eye shadow this product is all about your preference. Drug stores today have great eye shadow pallets that can be use to make your eyes pop.
Product #3 and #4 are mascara and fake lashes these products will complete your eye look and make it great. Always remember that makeup is for enhancing your natural beauty and not to hide your flaws. So I hope this product list helps you look good the day of your photo shoot. Photo By: C Double F

FACE EXPRESSION
As many of you know we do a lot of photo shoots here at Quinceanera Magazine. So we know a thing or two about photo taking. Photo shoots can be a bit overwhelming and sometimes bad. While photo shoots can be glamorous they are hard work, specially if you don’t know how to pose or bring out your best feature. Now because this is a blog and not a video I’m going to try to explain it the best I can. Let’s jump start with your face. Make sure you are in a place with good lighting (the bathroom always works). Ask your mom or sister to take different pictures of you smiling. That’s how you’re going to determine which side is your best side. Make sure you also take a picture of different angles, and that way the next time you take a selfie you won’t have to go through a million.

O IT DON’T D I! LIKE RUB
Remember Rubi? The quinceañera that invited everyone to her quince last year through a Youtube video? And by saying “everyone is invited” she didn’t realize that she would be having a guest list of 900,000 confirmed attendants!
Well, there is a better way to control who’s coming and who’s not. The best part about celebrating your quinceañera is having your closest family and friends there. Now it’s no secret that Latinos come from big families and where ever the party is, we’re there! It’s important to understand that you don’t need your cousin’s brother’s mother’s aunt’s neighbor there! It’s important to make sure that the people that matter most are there. It’s also essential that you maintain control of your guests and who comes in and out of your party. The best way to maintain control is to stay organized and have a well thought out plan.
Ask yourself the following questions
to find the magic number: How many people does the budget allow? Remember you have to be able to seat and feed this amount of people _______________
What’s the capacity limit of your local? This is an important
factor to consider when you’re choosing your location, that we will talk about more in detail later. There are certain laws and rules that will only allow a certain amount of people to be in a room due to safety and emergency situations. ___________________
The magic number of guests is ____________. The next step before you creating your invitations and inviting people is to create a guest list. A-Listers are VIP people that you and your parents really want to be there; something to consider is their spouse or significant others, children and members of their house hold. *Remember family comes first, we’ll make a list for friends and B Listers later.
QuinceaneraExpoEvents.com
Your guest list may be extensive if you come from an extremely big family and they live close or maybe the guest list is minimal due to having a smaller family, budget or lots people out of town etc. Although we wish we could invite everyone we know, or sometimes people invite themselves when they hear that you’re having a quinceañera, the reality is that you simply can not. There are various factors to consider when deciding how many invitations to not only be made, but also how many to hand out. Photo By : C Double F
Having more or less people at your quince doesn’t decide how beautiful or fun it’s going to be, it just matters that the important people are there. There are lots of perks of having a smaller attendance like exclusivity, more money in the budget to direct towards decorations, or other luxuries like a photo booth, candy table or party favors (we’ll talk more about it later).

That way, if you find yourself with extra time—while on the train or bus or waiting for an appointment—you can get something done.
3.- Don’t be afraid to say no
It’s OK to say no if your friend asks you to go to a movie one night but you have a test the next morning. Instead, find a time that works for both of you and go see the movie then.

7.- Don’t get sidetracked
If you find yourself wasting time on unimportant things, stop, check your to-do list and get back to what’s at the top. Maybe you’re procrastinating because you’re not sure how to move forward on a school project. If that’s the problem, check with your teacher to clear things up so you can get moving.
8.- Get a good night’s sleep
Your brain needs rest to perform at its peak. If it’s time to sleep, list the things you still need to get done on the next day’s to-do list and go to bed.

IL PADRINO Don’t be shy, they are expecting you to ask.
As I’m sure you’ve noticed planning a quinceañera can get pricey. There are so many things to take in to account from the reception hall, to the dress, to the muñeca and jewelry. The best thing about the Hispanic culture and tradition is that whenever someone decides to have a big event like this or a wedding is that we can count on our family to contribute. In other words, your Padrinos. They contribute money or sponsorship that they don’t expect for it to be paid back. It’s a mutual understanding that in the future if they ever plan an event for themselves or their children, they can come to you and your family for help as well. It could be a little weird or sudden if you just call someone and say “Hi, give me money” right? If you make it weird or awkward, they will feel weird and awkward. Being a padrino is a big deal, not only are they contributing hard earned money, their time and also their word of commitmen
1.- First you would start by thanking
them for the special or important roles they have played in your life. Example: “Tio, I just wanted to thank you for being like a second father to me and always supporting me”.
2.- Second tell them you have decided
QuinceaneraExpoEvents.com
to have a quinceañera and would like their blessing. Example: “As you know, I turn 15 next year and I decided to celebrate with a quinceañera!”
36
3.- Third Ask for help. People are
more inclined to say yes, when you say the word help. Example: “Because you play such an important role in my life, I was wondering if I could count on for the _________________.
After they agree and say yes, ask what their budget is or how much money you can count on them for. Some may say I can do $300 towards the dress, or I can only do $100 towards the flowers. Any amount counts, and also helps you adjust your budget. Another option is if you come from a big family, you could ask each aunt and uncle or maybe cousins who are older for $100 donation each. If you get 15 people to say yes, that’s an extra $1,500! There could be situations where they might say no. We may never know exactly or understand someone’s financial situation. If they say no to contributing financially maybe they can help in other ways: decorating, setting up, or helping you finding vendors. Remember not to take it personal, they’re not saying no they don’t support you, they’re saying I just don’t have the money right now. For those that are able to help you financially and contribute, don’t just take their money and run. Keep them in the loop while you plan, for example, if an aunt is your madrina for the dress, let her know when you go shopping, invite her and make her feel like she is part of the planning.
PENSANDO EN DEJAR LA ESCUELA?
No lo hagas ! BY QUINCEANERA FOUNDATION

Te lo van a decir en la escuela, en tu casa, los amigos, el gobierno, la television, esta revista, tu novio, en la iglesia… Pero al final del dia esta decision es solo tuya. No te rindas!
7. Te ayuda a crecer de manera integral. Todo lo que deja de crecer,
empieza a morir.

Being a part modeling and talent industry for close to 20 years I have attended my fair share of fashion shows, as a model and as a client. Recently, I was invited to attend a show of a very talented fashion designer. Sitting in a front row and watching models passing by I realized that the same models over and over again catch my attention and stood out throughout the whole show. They all had different looks but what I noticed about them was the fact that they one thing in common – they oozed with self-confidence. They had her shoulders back. They had her chins up. They had a very confident walk and it was so attractive and I thought “Isn’t that interesting”. You don’t have to be gorgeous. You don’t

have to have the most expensive clothes in the world. You don’t even have to have great hair. It is attractive to project self-confidence. That’s what models know, isn’t it? They know you have to project self-confidence on stage, on the runway, or in front of the camera. Getting ready for your Big Party means to get ready to be the center of attention. Can you handle it? Think of what virtues make up the popular, successful girl: her poise, her posture, her voice, her make-up, her clothes sense, the way she moves, and that wonderful quality of being natural, being herself as an individual; the ability to say and do the right thing at the right time, to have total

When you sit, don’t spread your legs all over the place, sit up nice and tall. When you shake hands, look that person right in the eyes, reach out your hand and shake in a nice firm grip that says, “I feel good, how about you?” Dress as though you’ve put some thought into your clothes. Make sure your clothes are neat, clean and pressed. Whether you’re talking to somebody or just listening, pay attention. confidence in herself. All these qualities add up to the sum total of success! When we see this girl, the one whom everyone likes, the one who people are drawn to, the one who seems to do everything right, we are inclined to think that she’s just lucky, that she was just born with so much, like the true beauty. If you look again, carefully this time, you will find that she is not the perfection you thought her to be, but that she has learned to create that illusion. What it takes to be Alright,
so I know that it’s every Quinceañera’s dream to be on the cover of Quinceañera Magazine. You may think you have what it takes because you’re photogenic, charming, and beautiful. But the winner of the Miss Cover Girl beauty pageant is more than that. She is a public speaker, she’s elegant, charismatic, professional, confident, educated, and modest. Most importantly, she is a role model to girls all over the country at every age. The team at Quinceañeras Magazine is very careful about whom we allow to be contestants for our beauty pageants and the judges that we choose know exactly what were looking for.
So before you decide to enter the beauty pageant in hopes of winning and becoming the next face of Quinceañeras Magazine ask yourself these questions: Photos By: Imagen Latina
Can I be a role model? We would like a
young lady worthy of having young girls looking up to her. Do you curse, have inappropriate pictures on myspace, argue with your parents or get in trouble at school? Those are some of the qualities that we do NOT want in a cover girl. Those things not only misrepresent our magazine, but her family’s upbringings and herself. We want a girl that is committed to furthering her education, has strong morals, a positive attitude and has a strong sense of who she is. That girl is worthy of being recognized and admired.
Do I like to speak in front of large crowds of people? When we present our
QuinceaneraExpoEvents.com
cover girl at events or expos, sometimes it is expected for her to give encouraging words to future quinceañeras or talk about her experience as cover girl. It never fails to impress parents, judges, business partners or strangers when a young lady can gain the attention of a crowd and speak clearly and elaborately.
46
Am I modest? What we want is a girl that can carry
herself confidently and modestly, whether it’s what you’re wearing, how you’re talking, or who you surround yourself with. All of these things determine first impressions and what example you’re giving to others, especially young girls.
Am I committed? Being a cover girl takes a lot
of time and responsibility. Of course everyone has other activities, and sports, but can you make time to be cover girl? It is a full-time job of representing a dress, advertised businesses, and Quinceañeras magazine. Also you will be expected to make appearances at events maybe even after your time as covergirl, and you too become a team member of QM. People will recognize you and notice how you carry yourself. Commitment is key to excellence.
As you can see, being a cover girl is more than just a pretty girl pictured on a magazine. She is a symbol of hard work, commitment, and modesty. These things combined are more beautiful than physical beauty. It is a privilege and a once in a life time opportunity and the girl that is most qualified will win. Before you make the decision to be a contestant, ask yourself honestly: do I have what it takes to be the next cover of Quinceañeras Magazine?

MUSIC The music of your quince will set the mood for the entire party. Considering that your quince has different elements, you’ll need to vary the music from background to transitional to dance music. The three most common forms of musical entertainment for your party are: DJ, banda/live band or mariachi. You may prefer one over the other or, if your budget allows, you may even have two or three of them at your quince. The most important element in selecting your music is to hire someone that knows how to entertain a crowd and deal with last-minute changes. It is their responsibility to keep people dancing and engaged throughout the entire party.

QUESTION TO ASK YOUR DJ.
If hiring a mariachi, make sure to: clarify the number of hours they’re expected to perform, approve the wardrobe they’ll be wearing, know the exact number of members in the group, provide them with a list of songs to play during specific moments of the party. You should also give them a list of songs to avoid.
Do you bring your own sound system equipment? How many hours of playing time are included in the contract? Can I review your playlists? Can I request certain songs? How many people are in your team? Do you play a variety of music? What genre is your specialty? Can you only play G-rated versions of the music? Do you have music that adapts to each moment of the quince?
If hiring a live band and a mariachi, make sure not to book both of them for the same hours. If you do, you’ll be paying for one of them to just wait on the side until the other is done playing.
It takes more than pressing play to really engage a quinceañera crowd. Among other qualities, your DJ needs to have a fun personality and the ability to quickly adapt to last-minute changes. When meeting with a prospective DJ, ask the following questions to determine if he/she is a good fit for your party:
48
Photography by
BANDA/ GRUPO People love live performances and tend to get very excited when they see a banda or band set up on stage. Before choosing your live performance, ask for a demo, video footage or recommendations from friends. The only disadvantage to having a banda is that they only play their musical genre. But if banda is what you love, then you shouldn’t have a problem with that! MARIACHi: Mariachi music is the most traditional music performed during a quinceañera. It is a beautiful idea to have your guests serenated by them during the dinner and to also have them perform the song to your father daughter dance.
Music is one of the most important aspects of your party. And although there’s no way you can possibly fulfill all of your guests’ musical requests, you can make sure that you and your parents’ expectations are met. Together with your parents, create a list of songs you want to hear at the party. Then, create a list of songs you definitely don’t want to be played at your Quince. This way, you’ll both be sharing the experience of having music that you approve.

IT’S A MUST.
You have to say thanks in public, and it’s not proper to hide away and pretend that no one will notice. It is your celebration and everyone expects to see you shine in every aspect throughout the night. This will probably be the most difficult part of your party because the excitement, the goose bumps, fear of public speaking and lots of other factors might keep you from saying how grateful you are and to whom.
For instance: “I’d like to thank you all for sharing with me this special day, and this beautiful party which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my parents and my family. I thank all and each one of them for their effort, their support and love. I love you all and I hope you continue to enjoy the party.

“Today is one of the most important and happy days of my life and now that I get a chance to celebrate it with my family and friends I want to thank you for your support and love. Thank you for coming and Let’s party!” Of course these are just suggestions, but you can say whatever you want as long as you stay relaxed and cool, and don’t let nervousness betray you.
