Certificate Programs
Learn the practices of strong, innovative leaders and gain a thorough grounding in business theories, principles and strategies. Concentrate on a particular focus area or pursue a broad range of courses from different fields in a multidisciplinary approach.
The Long-term Care Administration Certificate Program combines course work with a residency in a skilled nursing facility, preparing graduates to take the licensed nursing home administrator exam.
MBA—CFA® Track (Chartered Financial Analyst) Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) is the designation of professional excellence within the global investment community. Receive extensive training in finance and the preparation needed to sit for the first (Level I) of three exams offered by the CFA Institute.
MBA—HCM Track (Health Care Management) Gain knowledge specific to health care administration, including a comprehensive understanding of the organizational and financial challenges of the American health care system; legal, patient safety and compliance issues; and strategic planning and marketing.
MBA—SCM Track (Supply Chain Management) Coordinate the complex interactions and logistics among manufacturers and their suppliers, transportation providers, warehouses, retailers and the customers themselves. Special attention is devoted to understanding the various aspects of the global supply chain and how to manage the entire process most effectively and efficiently. (Electives in SCM are offered online only.)
JD/MBA This joint-degree program allows students to graduate with both a business and a law degree, building expertise and impressive credentials in two areas, and reducing the length of time necessary to receive both degrees.
The Health Care Compliance Certificate Program is the first university-based program in the country to train health care compliance officers. It provides a solid understanding of administrative, management, legal and financial principles through classes in both the business and law schools.
Quinnipiac MBA students tackle complex business and organizational challenges and have the chance to put their expertise to the test in professional competitions, such as the CFA® Institute Research Challenge, hosted by the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA); the APICS Competition; and the Fed Challenge in Boston. Choose the track that inspires you: journalism, sports journalism or news documentaries and feature writing. Finish in one year full time or two years part time. Faculty are experienced media professionals with credentials from some of the country’s most recognized media operations in journalism, film, audio and multimedia production, television and radio. Emphasis is given to building a professional network through connections with working journalists and professionals across all media, and highly engaged career development component including up-to-the-minute job postings from major media employers.

Master of Arts in Teaching This program prepares graduates to become master educators in elementary and secondary school settings through an instructional approach based on the belief that a successful educator must be a teacher, a learner and a leader. Five-semester program includes all course work and internship. Designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in any field and are interested in becoming certified teachers in elementary and secondary education. Includes a full-time internship that builds working knowledge of school practices and hands-on teaching experience. There is also an option of participating in a second internship, with similar benefits, during the final two semesters of the program. Internship provides significant tuition reduction, a huge plus for students. Fulltime clinical placement coordinators work with you to set up your internship.
Integrated program combines theory and practice through seminars and workshops. Small program size means advising is a priority and the cohort approach fosters close relationships with professors and fellow students. Program provides strong content-area preparation for students focusing on secondary education. A faculty of experienced educators model as well as teach best practices and also serve as mentors, guiding and supporting students throughout the program. The program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Quinnipiac University has developed collaborative partnerships with school districts throughout central and southern Connecticut, providing graduate candidates with internships that offer hands-on professional practice—and a substantial reduction in tuition costs.

Sixth-year Diploma in Educational Leadership This five-semester program allows students to earn an advanced diploma and the leadership expertise they need to succeed in such roles as department chair, assistant principal, principal, curriculum coordinator and central office administrator (below the rank of superintendent). An instructional approach balances theory and practice, and a series of field-based activities and internships provides a working knowledge of leadership issues. www.quinnipiac.edu/edleadership Course content and learning experiences are aligned with both national and state leadership standards. Candidates who complete the program are qualified to earn an advanced diploma as well as the Connecticut Intermediate Administration/ Supervision (092) Certificate. Program is designed around the busy life of a full-time teacher with a combination of late day and evening classes, online instruction and a compressed summer session, which allows students to keep working full time while they study to advance their careers. Well-rounded curriculum enables students to succeed in a wide range of situations, including urban, suburban and rural schools.
Small class size supports personal attention and the building of community, and a cohort approach to learning enables students to develop close relationships with professors and fellow students. Diverse faculty of experienced school leaders, including central office administrators and members of the legal profession, prepares graduates for the challenges and opportunities that they are likely to face as educational leaders. Candidates participate in an internship to gain authentic leadership experience, which you can arrange to complete at your current school.

Since the development of recombinant DNA technology, a new and exciting field of biotechnology has emerged, and the need for specialists in this area has increased nationally.

Resources include a polymerase chain reaction room, cell culture facilities and a microscopy room that includes a confocal laser scanning microscope. Cardiovascular Perfusion (MHS) Prepare for the varied responsibilities of a clinical perfusionist who provides consultation to the physician in the selection of the appropriate equipment and techniques used during extracorporeal circulation. During cardiopulmonary bypass, the perfusionist may administer blood products, anesthetic agents or drugs through the extracorporeal circuit on prescription. Pathologists’ Assistant (MHS) Pathologists’ assistants carry out increasingly sophisticated procedures, examinations and determinations in clinical laboratories, hospital laboratories and medical research centers. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) The program leading to a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) prepares graduates for advanced nursing practice, capable of providing holistic health care for diverse individuals, families or populations in a variety of settings. Tracks and Options Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Track (DNP) Family Nurse Practitioner Track (DNP) Learn to diagnose and manage most common illnesses, prescribe medication and work independently and collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team. Includes substantial clinical training and practical experience. Students are mentored by on-the-job practitioners in a wide range of health care settings.
Nurse Anesthesia (DNP) Train to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in a program that offers a strong clinical focus, collaborative nursing base and access to Quinnipiac’s outstanding facilities, including a new state-of-the art operating room with anesthesia equipment and on-site anatomy and cadaver labs. Clinical sites range from Level 1 hospitals to smaller community-based hospitals. Program includes call experience at one of the larger hospitals.
Care of Populations Track (DNP) Prepare to practice advanced nursing in the fields of community and public health, and to assume leadership roles in a diverse range of primary health care settings. If you are looking to improve primary care at the community or organizational level, this track provides a solid grounding in public health concepts, analysis and effective organizational leadership. Nursing Leadership (DNP) Develop leadership skills and deepen your understanding of the scope of the health care system. The North Haven Campus, an expansive, state-ofthe-art complex set on 104 acres featuring ponds and woodlands, is home to a growing number of graduate programs, including those in the Schools of Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, Medicine and Law. The Mount Carmel Campus, located at the base of beautiful Sleeping Giant Mountain, is home to several graduate programs, including those in the School of Business, the School of Communications and the College of Arts and Sciences. The York Hill Campus, with breathtaking views, a fullservice fitness center and the TD Bank Sports Center, is home to several of our men’s and women’s NCAA Division I teams, including our nationally ranked men’s hockey team.
