Tributes
The day Cathy and I met at age 15 and 16, we became more than friends. We became sisters for life. Cathy was beautiful, much more mature and smarter than I was. Cathy taught me so much good grace, advising me, and encouraging me to become the person I am today. We always laughed and told jokes all while eating her famous tacos. I’m going to miss you!! The day you died, you became my guardian Angel watching over me in death as you did in life. Rest In Peace my sister until we met again. 55years of friendship. -Love Always Bernice Berry I’m going to miss your hugs and kisses. I can’t believe I’m writing this. If you was here, you’ll say don’t be pissed. My auntie cat. I’m going to truly miss you, the weight is off your heart , no more pain, no more stress. You left a family that is strong and will continue to strive for the best. Your legacy will be infinite and the love you gave us will be clone. You stayed on me like a second mama, teaching me what’s right from wrong. As the tears run down our eyes and while people tell us to be strong, there was never a thought in my head that I would have to tell my auntie so long. -From Your loving nephew Carlton Sr. There are no goodbyes. For where ever you are, you’ll always be in our hearts. Rest in Peace Auntie Cat. We will love you forever. - Your nieces Gloria, Gwen and Donna.
“Phenomenol Woman”
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies. I say, It’s in the reach of my arms, The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees. I say, It’s the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I’m a woman Phenomenally.
Men themselves have wondered What they see in me. They try so much But they can’t touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them, They say they still can’t see. I say, It’s in the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me. Now you understand Just why my head’s not bowed. I don’t shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing, It ought to make you proud. I say, It’s in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need for my care. ’Cause I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me.
Phenomenal woman, That’s me. -From Your Beloved Sister’s
