M
elody “Melo” E Murriel, age 42, was born Friday, September 17, 1976 in Jackson, Tennessee to Wanda and Slyvester Murriel Sr. At the age of five (5), Melody and her family relocated to Joliet, IL. On Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 6:30pm Melo heard Gods whisper and was granted entrance into paradise. Awaiting her arrival was her father and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Melody accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of God’s Gathering Place Christian Fellowship Church and served at Saving Power Community Church. Melody, affectionately known as “Melo or Mel” graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in 1990 and Joliet West High School in 1994 while attending Professionals Choice Hair Design Academy completing her cosmetology license. Melo was always an over achiever. She went on to accomplish more great things throughout her life including but not limited to her Associates of Arts in Business Administration in 2008, Bachelor of Business Administration (Operations Management) in 2010 and her Master of Business Administration (Management) in 2011. Melo was currently employed at Navistar, Inc. in Lisle, IL. Although Melo conquered and accomplished many of her goals and dreams throughout this short time, she would consider her greatest achievement, being the proud parent of Ze’Veyon “Pooh” Furcron and Zyane “Mini Me” Williams. Melo dedicated every breath and move of her life with the consideration of her children. Although she only birthed these two, she was a Mom to many. Melo was well known for her giving heart and encouraging words to motivate others. A loving mom, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, nephew, cousin and most of all dear friend, whenever there was a need she always somehow made a way. She also was known as the go to person for many. Rather you needed your hair styled, income taxes done, a good home cooked meal, the best deal on the latest-greatest items, legal advice or just a simple conversation she was just a phone call or text away. A woman of many hats and Melo juggled them all to perfection. Her legacy will continue, and her life’s journey will forever be cherished by her heartbeats “Zay and Zy”, her loving mother Wanda Jones, brothers and protectors, Preston (Tanya) Roberson of Chicago, IL, Slyvester Murriel Jr of Maywood, IL and Corey (Tessa) Murriel of Milan, TN, special and devoted friends; Tyrone Hinton Sr. and Belithia “B” Johnson. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all.
Saving Power Community Church 701 Henderson Avenue | Joliet, IL 60432 Elder Tyrone Hinton Sr., Pastor Designee-Officiant Apostle George R. Kimbrough, Eulogist
I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.
Call to Worship/Celebration Facilitator Elder Tyrone Hinton Sr.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Musical Selection
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life’s been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch, Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.

When “Thank You” just won’t do I’ve sat down countless times to try to find the words, what do I say to a woman who was not only my Mom but my BFF, my protector, my provider, my confident, my motivation – MY EVERYTHING! You gained your wings to early mommy but Zay always told me to never question our lord above. When I think of what to say the first thing that comes to mind is “Thank You”. Thank You for the sacrifices you made with a smile Thank You for pushing me to be my best Thank You for taking the time to create so many priceless memories with me Thank You for teaching me to stand tall and be comfortable in my own skin Thank You for being a woman of confidence, grace, and beauty inside and out Thank You for instilling in me what I need to move forward Thank You for never leaving my side Thank You for life and teaching me how to live it My thank you could go on forever, but I have realized a simple “Thank You” just won’t do. I pray that you never felt taken for granted, that you knew I was and will be forever grateful for everything you did, every vacation, every shopping spree lol and all of our mommy & daughter moments. I “Thank You” for every Yes and every No not right now Zyane. You always knew what was best. You always had a master plan. I can just imagine you trying to negotiate with God – “like no not now they not ready”. May your light forever guide me, your voice forever lead me and your spirit forever live in me. I Love You MommaDukes more than life itself XOXOXOXO

TRIBUTES
Mom, a part of me is gone forever. You are my world. I am going to miss the special moments that we spent together, but I will never forget them. I will never forget the life long lessons that you have instilled in me to make me the man I am today. You have made such a strong impact on the people in your life and I will do everything in me to have a positive impact on every person I encounter. You may not be here physically anymore, but I know you’re still here; living through me, Zyane, and everyone else you’ve impacted. I thank you for being the wonderful mother, sister, daughter, and friend that God created you to be. And I thank God for giving me the chance to experience someone as special as you. I will love you forever and always.

“Until We Again” Each morning when we awake we know that you are gone. And no one knows the heartache As we try to carry on. Our hearts still ache with sadness and many tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still. There will always be a heartache, and often a silent tear, But always a precious memory Of the days when you were here. If tears could make a staircase, And heartaches make a lane, We’d walk the path to heaven And bring you home again. We hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives Until we meet again. Our family chain is broken now, And nothing will be the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.
