What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
On behalf of the Qwanoes board and staff team, we would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude for your help and patience through these past two years!
It was heartbreaking to cancel so many of our camps, retreats and events since 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. We greatly missed everyone who was not able to come! To everyone who came to the new programs we added - thank you.
The financial impact of COVID-19 changes has been immense – threatening the future viability of Qwanoes. We are extremely thankful for God’s provision through so many people, churches, and organizations! This combined effort and outpouring of support has been overwhelming.
Safety has always been our top priority. Throughout the pandemic we have sought to respect and uphold all public health guidelines. And we will continue to do so.
It is amazing what can happen when people join together in unity for a common cause – and especially powerful when it’s to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.
Thank you for your prayers, support, love and kindness. It has made a world of difference! We are extremely excited for the future and can’t wait to welcome everyone in 2022.
We love you all!

‘‘
Where is Qwanoes? On the West Coast of Canada in the heart of the Gulf Islands on the Pacific Ocean. At the edge of Maple Mountain, nestled in a forest... where ADVENTURE is around every corner. With staff from around the world, across Canada and right next door.
Are you ready? Something amazing awaits. So come on . . .
Dear Parent,
The heart of Qwanoes is a heart for kids. And we would love to welcome your child to the highlight of their year!
You’ll notice the difference the moment you arrive—a special atmosphere of fun and caring sparked by an enthusiastic staff team. Our tradition of excellence continues as this summer we hope to welcome over 4000 campers of widely varied backgrounds.
Qwanoes is a youth-oriented, high-adventure, non-profit Christian camp situated on 55 acres of magnificent scenic waterfront property on Vancouver Island. We are committed to standards of the highest quality and are constantly striving to improve our service. The health and safety of your child is of highest priority!
Returning campers will discover new activities, new programs... and all-new adventures. No summer is ever the same at Qwanoes! We are committed to providing you the greatest value.
Qwanoes children’s and youth camps have grown for the past 25 summers, and yet we still offer one of the lowest camper-to-staff ratios.
As a Christian camp, we incorporate biblical principles into all programs. Qwanoes is an ideal setting for life-changing, fun-filled adventure and a wise investment in your child’s life. Campers who arrive at camp just looking for fun will discover far more—like new-found friends, newly acquired skills, real love, and a caring environment. Our goal is that your child will have not just the greatest week of their life, but an unforgettable week that will change their life forever!

Our Summer Staff
These predominantly young adults and college students are specifically selected for their evangelical faith, maturity, and aptitude for developing healthy relationships with kids. Their love for God, people, and life make them superb role models. Our camper/counselor ratio averages 6 to 1 and many cabins have both a senior and junior counselor (all overseen by our experienced Head Counseling team). The camper/staff ratio is a low 2 to 1.
Every year we seek the best! Our extensive search brings staff from across Canada, throughout our home province, and a dozen other countries. Staff are carefully screened using resumes, applications, references, interviews, and criminal record checks. They receive thorough training, with the vast majority of staff staying all summer allowing us to provide consistent quality all summer-long.

Where road opens to Crofton, turn right onto Adelaide Street which becomes Smith Road. At end of Smith, go straight onto gravel road, arrow points to Qwanoes. Follow gravel road directly to camp.
“I
almost started to cry when I saw how you welcomed my boy.”
We will seek to honour cabinmate requests as follows: campers must be eligible to be in the same camp, ages typically are not more than 12 months apart, the request must be made by both people, and it must be made at least two weeks before camp. Note that this is optional and that many campers do not make requests. We seek to honour your requests, and to place similar age groups together. Please call if you have any questions.
Whether an expert or beginner, there’s something for you! Our qualified staff will encourage you and ensure your safety. There are more than 75 options to choose from, and all equipment and safety gear is provided. Please note that for the safety of our guests, all campers at Juniors, Junior High and Youth Camps must pass a swim test to take part in most waterfront activities. Campers who do not pass the swim test will have limited access to waterfront activities (but will still have fun!).
Always one of the most important parts of camp, we provide quality food and plenty of it! Healthy and delicious home-style meals are prepared daily and usually served family style. Campers eat on either our Promenade or Sky Decks, enjoying a panoramic view of the ocean and coastline. Vegetarian options are available, and we seek to meet special needs (contact us if you have a special diet need). Nuts may be used in the kitchen for special diets and are present in the camp stores (please contact us if you have any questions).
You can print your account statement (receipt) from your online registration account.
Let us host your next event! Qwanoes is open in all non-summer months for groups of all sizes…from schools and youth groups, to churches and community groups. We provide full meal services, activities (including challenge course), accommodation, meeting rooms and more. Our experienced staff would love to help your event be a success! Call us or email: groups@qwanoes.ca
The youngest a camper can be is turning the minimum age (ex. 15 for Youth Camp) by December 31, 2022. The camper may not be older than the maximum age by the start date of their camp.
The health and safety of all our guests is of utmost importance. Our on-site health care staff includes one or two Registered Nurses plus a 24-hour certified first aid attendant, all serving from our wellstocked on-site Health Centre. In addition, two full-service hospitals are located within 20 minutes of Qwanoes.
Staff are chosen after a rigorous application and screening process (including a Criminal Record Check), and pre-summer staff training is provided. Fully-certified (N.L.) lifeguards provide a safe environment for Qwanoes Beach activities. Qwanoes is accredited by the B.C. Camping Association.
Please complete the online medical form and waiver no earlier than two weeks before the start of camp (go to your registration account).
Please see our home web page for our most current COVID-19 Update and COVID-19 Safety Plan. We have been and will continue to follow all Public Health guidelines. If the BC Public Health Officer requires campers be vaccinated to attend an overnight camp, our cancellation policy will still apply. (Note that Camp Qwanoes is currently not requiring children & youth campers to be vaccinated unless it is mandated by the government.)
Mail is delivered to Qwanoes every weekday. Address camper mail to: Camp Qwanoes (include camper’s first and last names), Box 250, Crofton, BC V0R 1R0. Email is printed and delivered daily at lunch to campers (send to: campers@qwanoes.ca or go to “Contact Us” on our website: www.qwanoes.ca)
Several public pay phones are also available. To contact a camper in an emergency situation, please call the camp office.
A confirmation package is available on your online registration account starting in late March. (We are waiting for up-to-date COVID-19 information). It will contain information on: our camp stores, what to bring, travel information, etc. If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to call or email us.
Every year Qwanoes makes available used items for sale at great prices. Available at the end of the summer: Rocky Mountain bicycles, SpringFreeTrampolines, Hyperlite wakeboards, HO ski equipment and sometimes ski boats. Call for complete details or

GST needs to be added to the fee of all camps and retreats.
Qwanoes reserves the right to send campers home for inappropriate behaviour at the parent(s) or guardian(s) cost, and without refund. The safety and security of our guests is always of the highest priority.

Campers will stay in cabins nestled amongst trees in our seven villages, with each village made up of similar age groups. As cabins do not have electricity, campers should bring flashlights. Washrooms, including hot water, electricity and showers, are centrally located.
More than 8 weeks before camp (4 weeks for retreats), all but $75 is fully refundable ($85 for Family Retreats, $25 for Family Work Weekend, $20 for other retreats). Less than 8 weeks before camp (4 weeks for retreats), all but the deposit is fully refundable. Substitutes are not permitted. There is no refund once camp starts. There is no fee adjustment if a guest arrives late or leaves early.
