Where is Qwanoes? On the West Coast of Canada in the heart of the Gulf Islands on the Pacific Ocean. At the edge of Maple Mountain, nestled in a forest... where ADVENTURE is around every corner. With staff from around the world, across Canada and right next door.

You’ll notice the difference the moment you arrive—a special atmosphere of fun and caring sparked by an enthusiastic staff team. Our tradition of excellence continues as this summer we hope to welcome over 3900 campers of widely varied backgrounds. Qwanoes is a youth-oriented, high-adventure, non-profit Christian camp situated on 55 acres of magnificent scenic waterfront property on Vancouver Island. We are committed to standards of the highest quality and are constantly striving to improve our service. The health and safety of your child is of highest priority! Returning campers will discover new activities, new programs... and all-new adventures. No summer is ever the same at Qwanoes! We are committed to providing you the greatest value. Qwanoes children’s and youth camps have grown for the past 25 summers, and yet we still offer one of the lowest camper-to-staff ratios. As a Christian camp, we incorporate biblical principles into all programs. Qwanoes is an ideal setting for life-changing, fun-filled adventure and a wise investment in your child’s life. Campers who arrive at camp just looking for fun will discover far more—like new-found friends, newly acquired skills, real love, and a caring environment. Our goal is that your child will have not just the greatest week of their life, but an unforgettable week that will change their life forever!

Our Summer Staff Sets Qwanoes Apart! These predominantly young adults and college students are specifically selected for their evangelical faith, maturity, and aptitude for developing healthy relationships with kids. Their love for God, people, and life make them superb role models. Our camper/counselor ratio averages 5 to 1 and most cabins have both a senior and junior counselor. The camper/staff ratio is a low 2 to 1. Every year we seek the best! Our extensive search brings staff from across Canada, throughout our home province, and several other countries. Staff are carefully screened using resumes, applications, references, interviews, and criminal record checks. They receive thorough training, with the vast majority of staff staying all summer allowing us to provide consistent quality all summer-long.

Cabinmate Requests
Age Policy
We will seek to honour cabinmate requests as follows: campers must be eligible to be in the same camp, ages typically are not more than 12 months apart, the request must be made by both people, and it must be made at least two weeks before camp. Note that this is optional and that many campers do not make requests. We seek to honour your requests, and to place similar age groups together. Please call if you have any questions.
The youngest a camper can be is turning the minimum age (example: 15 for Youth Camp) by December 31, 2016. The camper may not be older than the maximum age by the start date of their camp.
About Our Activities Whether an expert or beginner, there’s something for you! Our qualified staff will encourage you and ensure your safety. There are about 75 options to choose from, and all equipment and safety gear is provided. Please note that for the safety of our guests, all campers at Juniors, Junior High and Youth Camps must pass a swim test to take part in most waterfront activities. Campers who do not pass the swim test will have limited access to waterfront activities (but will still have fun!).
Food Service Always one of the most important parts of camp, we provide quality food and plenty of it! Healthy and delicious home-style meals are prepared daily and usually served family style. Campers eat on either our Promenade or Sky Decks, enjoying a panoramic view of the ocean and coastline. Vegetarian options are available, and we seek to meet special needs (contact us if you have a special diet need). Nuts are not used in the kitchen (some food items may contain traces of nuts) but are present in the camp stores.
Receipts Needed? We would be glad to issue receipts for your registration upon request. Either call us or email registrar@qwanoes.ca.
Guest Group Rentals Let us host your next event! Qwanoes is open in all non-summer months for groups of all sizes…from schools and youth groups, to churches and community groups. We provide full meal services, activities (including challenge course), accommodation, meeting rooms and more. Our experienced staff would love to help your event be a success! Call us or email: groups@qwanoes.ca.
Health & Safety The health and safety of all our guests is of utmost importance. Our on-site health care staff includes one or two Registered Nurses plus a 24-hour certified first aid attendant, all serving from our well-stocked on-site Health Centre. In addition, two full-service hospitals are located within 20 minutes of Qwanoes. Staff are chosen after a rigorous application and screening process (including a Criminal Record Check), and pre-summer staff training is provided. National Lifeguard Service (N.L.S.) certified lifeguards provide a safe environment for Qwanoes Beach activities. Qwanoes is accredited by the B.C. Camping Association.
Camper Mail & Telephone Calls Mail is delivered to Qwanoes every weekday. Address camper mail to: Camp Qwanoes (include camper’s first and last names), Box 250, Crofton, BC V0R 1R0. Email is also printed and delivered daily at lunch to campers (send to: campers@qwanoes.ca or go to “Contact Us” on our website: www.qwanoes.ca) Several public pay phones are also available. To contact a camper in an emergency situation, please call the camp office (a 24-hour pager is always available).
Upon Receipt of Registration We will send our confirmation package upon receipt of your registration (or, we will contact you if there is a waiting list). It will contain information on: our camp stores, what to bring, a medical form (to be completed less than two weeks before your camp and brought to us on the first day of camp), travel information, and our Qwanoes Express Pack envelope. Don’t worry…we work hard to make your first day at camp go smoothly and hassle free! If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to call or email us.
GST GST needs to be added to the fee of all camps and retreats.
For Sale: Bikes, Ski Boats & Other Gear Every year Qwanoes makes available used items for sale at great prices. Available at the end of the summer: Rocky Mountain bicycles, Tigé ski boats, Hyperlite wakeboards, and HO ski equipment. Call for complete details or go to: www.qwanoes.ca/forsale.
Inappropriate Behaviour Qwanoes reserves the right to send campers home for inappropriate behaviour at the parent(s) or guardian(s) cost, and without refund. The safety and security of our guests is always of the highest priority.
Privacy Policy We respect the privacy of personal information that is submitted to us and adhere to the CSA Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information. This means that we collect the information only for the purposes of this ministry, we disclose it to others only as required, and we are committed to protecting the information to the best of our ability. We assume that your submission of a registration represents your consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes listed in our Privacy Policy, the full copy of which is available upon request. We also respect your right to withdraw consent at any time, though this will limit our ability to serve you in the future.
Accommodation Campers will stay in cabins nestled amongst trees in our seven villages, with each village made up of similar age groups. As cabins do not have electricity, campers should bring flashlights. Washrooms, including hot water, electricity and showers, are centrally located.
Cancellation Policy More than 8 weeks before camp (4 weeks for retreats), all but $60 is fully refundable ($75 for Family Retreats, $25 for Family Work Weekend, $10 for other retreats). Less than 8 weeks before camp (4 weeks for retreats), all but the deposit is fully refundable. Substitutes are not permitted. There is no refund once camp starts. There is no fee adjustment if a guest arrives late or leaves early.
