THESIS A thesis about the interstitial space in the urban realm. The project culminated in a design for a school and hidden garden in an abandoned institutional building in Dublin’s inner city. The site was inhabited for almost 100 years by an institution that subjected young women to exploitation and cruelty. The grim history of the building and others like it carry a sort of collective guilt and it has remained vacant since 1996. The concealment associated with the institution is subverted with a new entrance threshold filled with light and the view of a garden beyond, this creates a new engagement with the street and a bright and open heart to the school. The hidden is revealed as a space of nature and learning engaging a cathartic process of healing and renewal.
FARM SQUARE
Circulation and production are two key elements in a landscape proposal for Mountjoy square. A community farm is introduced as a means of generating occupation and social cohesion. The view from the piano noble floor of the surrounding Georgian Houses informs the concept of circulating on a plateau. A structure in the centre of the park provides sheltered space for sport and recreation while providing a raised terrain at the level of the trees. The community centre creates a link between the farm and the sports facilities within. The nursery is a more introverted structure offering glimpses of the world within only when approaching directly from the sheltered walkway. The edge condition is renewed with paving, lighting and furniture that reinforce the historic railings, an interior path traces a route through the park’s mature trees.
POTT ARCHITECTS
A successful competition entry for the relocation of the classical record label, “Deutsche Grammophon”, from their existing headquarters in Hamburg to the landmark Universal Music Group building in Berlin. Individual work spaces are arranged along the façades and the centre is opened up with flexible light filled spaces for interaction and informal meetings. The design celebrates the tradition and history of the label while also creating a setting for innovation and growth.

POTT ARCHITECTS
A refurbishment of the Villa Oppenheim, a historic villa on the Baltic Sea. In order to create a cohesive interior all of the structure and fittings were designed in the office including kitchen units, stairs and bathroom fittings. This created a contemporary living space based on a reading of the historic plan of the house. Shown are a series of drawings from the master bathroom made for a presentation to the clients and photographs of the built interior.

BCA
Ponte Palazzo is an elevated park and pedestrian bridge connecting the old town centre with the new palace district of the dutch city Hertogenbosch while creating visual links with the surrounding landscape.
REPARCH
A series of additions to a dwelling in Little Neck, Queens, New York. The client had a child that suffered from Cerebral Palsy and needed to increase accessibility. This included the addition of an external ramped entrance way, a modified internal layout and a disabled toilet.
The 250 meter long bridge has both bicycle and pedestrian lanes; plants, trees, benches and lighting are all integrated in the folded weathering steel structure. A heating system provides a low temperature in the deck and the stairs of the bridge preventing the bridge from freezing in the winter. The bridge will be used as a massive solar collector during summer; the floor heating is connected to an Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) which provides the stored heat during winter.
