YR 4
[ furniture design ]
Challenged to design a flat pack piece of furniture this bike rack + shelving unit breaks down to easily fit + be shipped in a standard UPS Suitcase box (22” x 14” x 19”). Finding inspiration in contemporary furniture design, Urbanized is designed with the urban lifestyle in mind - finding a solution for indoor bike storage, while maintaining a small footprint. In order to achieve this with contemporary simplicity, Urbanized is constructed of walnut, airline cable + detachable biscuit joiners. flat pack | woodworking | cd set | furniture style report

[ MORIKAMI WELLNESS CENTER ] “One conscious breath in and out is a meditation.” -Eckhart Tolle
Breath. Literally defined as, “the power of breathing; life.” Every living thing survives through this simple act. Zen Philosophy is actively trying to find one’s inner peace. With one of the largest aspects, meditation. One of the best way to reach a state of meditation is through the simple act of breathing. Such a powerful component to life, yet something that cannot be seen by the human eye. Air fills the body, overtakes it + then is quickly released back into the world. Into the air we all share. It keeps everything moving + alive, it’s powerful. “Each inhalation brings with it more inspiration + each exhalation releases tension.”

FARMERS MARKET REVITALIZING | MANHATTAN, KS
YR 5
[ grad thesis ]
The graduate thesis is proposed by the student to faculty for a year long exploration + design in hopes of further expanding the body of knowledge. After recognizing an increase in farmers markets across the world I began to analyze the market even more. This is where I saw a need for further design exploration for small community markets across the United State. Over this year long project my overall intention is to design a prototype through a systematic approach that will encourage + enable an invigorating social interaction that will become an influence for small markets. programming | research | analysis | diagramming | proposal

why a farmers market?
association; relationship + to join, link, or fasten together; unite or bind
Throughout the Fall semester I heavily researched everything about farmers markets from the typical users, to the ergonomics, to the marketing + even the color theory involved. During the research + programming stage I realized that the perfect site was Manhattan, KS. The Manhattan Farmers market is one of the oldest in Kansas + has gone through many changes throughout the years. The current market in located in two separate locations that are not located near one another + therefore have to be run on two separate days. Neither location provides the proper amenities for the market. The current market can also expect about 45-50 stall on their biggest Saturdays, with each vendor paying $8 per stall.

The proposed site is located on the edge of downtown. Research has show that downtown is the prime location for markets because people both resonate it historically with 2035 downtown but also as a part of the community center. The site is the home of an existing grocery store chain. It will be accommodating for both the indoor + outdoor markets. Which will also help increase the change of a more substantial year round market. The site is surrounded by both residential + retail spaces. The site will also provide amenities taht are currently lacking at the existing sites. proposed site

ARCHITECTURE FIRM | DALLAS, TX [ internship ]
The summer before my 5th year + during the winter break of my 5th year I had opportunity to work as an interior design intern for Corgan. Located in their main office in Dallas, Texas, I was exposed to a multitude of real life scenarios. I was lucky enough to work on a temporary space that had an incredibly quick turnaround so I was able to witness + first had work on every stage of the design process from the proposal to the CD’s, to the final punch. I learned an incredible amount about the industry, through which I began to became more confident both as a designer + a person. cd’s | site punch | client meetings | proposals | presentations
