This book is to Deb Morrison as a thank you for being an inspirational teacher and friend. My experience with you over the past year has taught me so much, not just about advertising, but about life and I am so grateful for that. This is a collection of some of the things that I learned from my college expierence and advice for future students willing to take this journey.



Figure out who you are and what you want to do.



Create your own original style.



And own it.



Be bold.



Believe in yourself.



Attitude is everything.



Listen.



But know when to question.



You don’t have to agree with what people tell you.



Respect.



Be generous.



Collaborate.

If it is easy, your probably doing it wrong.



If it were easy, anyone could do it.



But it’s not, and they can’t.



Don’t let job descriptions limit you.



Don’t be afraid of being wrong.



Don’t just do what everyone else is doing.



Because they might be doing it wrong.



Be irreplaceable.



Be yourself.



Say thank you.



Sleep is not a waste of time.



Don’t be an asshole.



Serifs are beautiful.



Design is all around you.

The wrong idea for one thing can be the right idea for another thing.



Don’t be afraid to start over just because you are almost done.

Make friends with strangers.



Travel.



Take one step at a time.



Think about the big picture.



Break down big things into little things.



Seriously, don’t think too much.



Take advantage of opportunities.
