Distance rocks should be around the campfire, creating a circle barrier.


fire safety & precautions how to build a fire • Use ready-made fireplace or fire circle. • Make sure fire circles are a safe distance from tents and buildings. • Tie back long hair, roll up loose sleeves, and don't wear frilly outfits or plastic clothing like raincoats. Please wear closed toe shoes. • An adult must be present when a fire is lit. • Clear the ground of leaves, grass, sticks, and leaf mold. Build the fire on solid dirt. • Always have a large bucket of water, sand or dirt, and a shovel nearby, ready to put out the fire before you light the first match. • Place the woodpile far enough away from the fire, on the side away from the wind, so sparks cannot fly into it.

tending a fire • Build the fire gradually. • When burning paper, bundle it into balls to prevent them from blowing away when lighted. • Don't play with fire. Once a stick is placed in the fire it should stay there to burn.

• Use a ready-made fire circle. • Make sure someone is responsible for the fire and is watching it at all times. • Keep plastic away from the fire. They can melt or burst into flames. • If grease catches fire, smother with sand and cover with a lid or remove from fire. Water only makes a grease fire worse, use a fire extinguisher. • If a fire starts to spread, immediately inform supervisors for help.

extinguishing a fire • Put the fire out immediately after you are done. • Let the fire die down as much as possible before extinguishing. • Scatter coals, break up big pieces and knock logs apart. • Stir coals and sprinkle with water, stir again. Repeat this step until no live coals remain. • Do not pour water onto the fire, only sprinkle the water! • If you must remove hot ashes from a fire site, wet them down first and deposit them in a fireproof container. • End of the week, scoop ashes out and dispose of them in the woods. fire safety & precautions 7

directions 1. Preheat dutch oven on bed of hot coals with some coals on the lid. 2. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter (cut into small pieces) to the dry biscuit mix. Add milk and stir.

3. Put spoon-size scoops of dough in a greased cake pan or pie plate.

4. Put pan in dutch oven and cook for 25-30 minutes.

2. Mix 4 tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of biscuit mix and 2 tablespoons of soft butter together for the crumble topping.

1. Preheat dutch oven on bed of hot coals with some coals on the lid.

3. In another bowl, mix 2 cups of biscuit mix and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Add, 1 egg, 1 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of melted shortening to the flour and sugar and mix thoroughly. Do not try to remove the lumps. 4. Spread dough in a greased cake pan or pie plate. 5. Sprinkle crumble topping on top of dough. 6. Place on rack in dutch oven. Cook 25-30 minutes 7. Let cool for 5 minutes and enjoy!

directions 1. Turn on skillet to medium-high heat. 2. In a bowl, beat eggs, milk and cinnamon together.

1. Cut orange in half and remove fruit from peel, leaving the two halves of the peel intact.

directions 1. Turn on skillet to medium-high heat. 2. In a bowl, mix eggs, milk and pancake mix together. 3. Spray skillet with non-stick spray. 4. Pour batter into desired size circles. 5. Fry until golden on both sides. 6. Add fruit if desired. 7. Serve with butter and syrup and enjoy!

directions 1. Spread butter on both sides of bread. 2. Cut out the center from each slice of bread. 3. Fry in skillet on medium heat until golden and flip. 4. Cook bread centers until golden and serve with submarines.

2. Roll the dough into round balls placing a cube of cheese in the center.

40 oz Concentrated Tomato Soup

3. Place the dough balls into hot tomato soup mix (diluted with 1/2 soup can of water)

2 cups Shredded Cheese

4. Cook slowly until dough is cooked through with lid on tight

1 1/2 cups Water or Milk

5. Check the dough after 15-20 minutes. Don’t check before.

2 Tbsp. Baking Powder

6. Serve dumplings with soup or sauce and enjoy!

1. Make up dough as you would for biscuits or use 3 cups of prepared biscuit mix.

If making another batch of dumplings, add more water to the soup before repeating the process.

2. Layer half of the tortillas in a greased and foiled dutch oven; cutting tortillas to fit pan if desired.

1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, green chilis, chicken broth, both soups, and onion together; set aside.

directions 1. Fry onion until light brown. 2. Add in meat and cook until done. 3. Add tomatoes and bean and cook together. 4. Season with chili powder and salt. 5. Let all simmer, thicken with a little flour if needed.

directions 1. Heat oil to 325 degrees.

2. In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal mix, flour, sugar, and salt.

3. In a small bowl, combine milk and eggs.

4. Add the small bowl mixture in the medium bowl cornmeal mix, stir well.

4. Cover with lid and bake on coals for 25-30 minutes or until cheese has melted.

directions

ingredients 4 cups Ground Beef

2. Cut up the tops of the green bell peppers, removing the seeds and membrane.

2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

3. Arrange the peppers in a dutch oven with the hollow sides facing upward.

1. Cook the ground beef until brown and boil the white rice until done.

4. In a bowl, mix together the cooked ground beef, cooked rice, half of the tomato sauce, garlic powder, 1 cup of each type of cheese, salt and pepper. 1 cup Uncooked Long Grain White Rice 5. Spoon an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper. 6 Green Bell Peppers 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

16 oz tomato sauce 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder Salt & Pepper

6. Pour the remaining sauce over the peppers and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. 7. Bake for 30 minutes on hot coals. Check regularly to see if peppers are tender. 8. Remove from coals and let cool for 5 minutes. 9. Serve and enjoy!

stuffed shells 10 servings 20 min prep time 45-60 min cook time ingredients Large Pasta Shells 2 Eggs 2 cups Ricotta Cheese

directions 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Salt water if desired. 2. Add pasta shells and cook for 8-10 minutes or until soft; drain pasta and water. 3. In a large bowl, mix eggs, ricotta cheese, 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, salt and pepper until thoroughly combined.

4. Stuff cooked pasta shells with cheese mixture and place 4 cups Shredded into a foiled dutch oven. Mozzarella Cheese - divide in half 5. In a medium bowl, stir together pasta sauce and remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Pour over stuffed shells 1 cup Parmesan Cheese 2 tsp of Salt 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper 6 cups Pasta Sauce

6. Bake in coals about 45 to 60 minutes, until edges are bubbly and shells are slightly set. 7. Remove from coals and let cool for 5 minutes. 8. Serve and enjoy!

2. Pour out fat and stir in soup, ketchup & worcestershire sauce.

3. Line a baking pan with tator tots, spoon beef mixture into baking dish.

2. Press the cornbread crumbs into each side, forming a 1/4 inch crust.

3. Place chili into the lower part of the pie iron, keep below the rim of the iron.

directions 1. Preheat dutch oven on bed of coals with some coals on lid. 2. Once hot, place fruit in with no more than 1/2 cup of juice. 3. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on fruit and put lid back on with some coals on top. 4. Mix together the biscuit mix, eggs, melted shortening, and milk thoroughly. 5. Once mixed together, remove the lid and drop one spoonful of dough onto fruit at a time. Do not spread the dough or smooth it out.

directions 1. Dissolve yeast in a cup of warm water. 2. Measure 3 cups of flour in bowl, add yeast mixture and stir. 3. Sprinkle counter or a surface with flour and turn dough onto surface. 4. Knead dough for 5 minutes and let rise in warm place until it’s doubled in size. 5. Cut dough into fist sized balls and shape into pretzels. 6. Let dough rise again for 30 minutes. 7. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 8. Mix one yolk and 1 Tbsp water to create egg yolk mixture. 9. Brush egg yolk onto each pretzel and sprinkle with salt. 10. Bake Pretzels for 10 minutes or until golden. 11. Let cool and enjoy! A variation is to replace kosher salt on top of the pretzels with cinnamon and sugar and serve with vanilla icing.
