1. General English rules. a. UK English will be the spelling standard b. General rules of grammar will apply. 2. Referencing source material a. Harvard Referencing will be used in al instances. 3. Units of measure a. ‘hash’ marks are never to be used, measures to always be expressed as: i. Inches: in ii. Feet: ft. iii. Degrees: when talking about temperature use a symbol. When taking about an angle, write ‘degrees’ 4. Headings a. Page headers: Book Antiqua size 30 (usually) b. Article headers: Book Antiqua size 24 (Usually) c. Other headers: Book Antiqua size 18 (usually) d. Header guidelines are not absolute, they are subject to change depending on the induvisual page styles. 5. Fonts a. Book Antiqua is to be used for all headings and articles unless otherwise specified. This is to maintain consistency. b. Magazine name on front cover: Segoe Script. Segoe Script can be used for other headings if specified. 6. Writing style a. Most features are 1500 – 2500 words depending on the subject. b. There are no limitations on style as long as the writing is interesting and lively.

c. Writing should convey a sense of curiosity with a knowing voice and a storytelling style. 7. Photography style a. Photographs should be lively and interesting. b. Should show a destination from a number of different points of view: overviews from a distance, medium length views, close ups of interesting details and people, street scenes, interiors and anything else that helps give readers a sense of what a place is like. 8. Layout. a. The magazine should maintain a scrapbook type style on most pages. b. Interesting photos to draw attention. c. 3 columns on each page.
