St. Anthony's Cathedral Cannery St, Toronto ON. A project that evolved from an abstract art piece at the beginning of the term, Saint Anthony's Cathedral was a church that was explored through both religious and traditional geometries. Traditional Gothic architecture is designed as a square within a circle; with the square representing humankind and the circle representing the divine. The belief is this form is a way of protection by the divine. St. Anthony Cathedral is an exploration of this geometry inverted, seeking the divine on earth. The Programming includes: - Church - Priory -Community Center - Bell Tower as well as other outdoor features for a tactile form of worship. Astronomy

Preserving ornamental tradition in the catholic religion, stained glass windows are on all faces of the building, including symbols to represent their practise. The stained glass windows on the north and south facades are placed on the eastfacing piece of the triangular-edged plan, this application creates a blank wall on the exterior when progressing west - east, but a crystallite lighting on the interior.

In honour of the patron saint of the church, the Bell tower is designed to symbolize Saint Anthony. Though there are many iterations, the symbol of Saint Anthony always consists of a lily and a book to represent his purity and his readings he would sought out to preach. The bells of the tower pivot around the north, east, and south facades, distributed throughout the varied levels to resemble a bouquet of lilys. 17

SPRUCED UP Ozolini, Latvia
Located in Latvia, this cabin is a project regarded as a space to facilitate and encourage the practice of meditation. Designed in 500 SF, the cabin provides a space to sleep, store food/backpacking utilities and primarily a space for meditation. Meditation is a practice of disconnection and ultimately no distraction, achieved either visually or mentally. This cabin is designed to encourage the mindful state of meditation, with the user climbing into a treehouse to then descend into the designated meditation space. Using Latvia's locally sourced spruce wood, the mediation space is defined by charred wood, versus raw plywood to outline the living space.

Spruce:
(Conventional wood members and plywood) - Over half of Latvia's forest consist of Scots pine or Norway spruce - Natural, readily available resource - Renewable resource: spruce trees grow comparatively quickly
Charred Spruce:
(siding - Shou sugi ban is a Japanese method of burning the surface of wood to preserve it - Thin layer of carbon is created on surface and moisture is removed from wood through light burning to protect wood - Durable and long lasting - Water, fire, and insect resistant
Reeds:
(Wall insulation and thatched roof material) - One of the oldest and most ecological solutions - Economical and widely available - Natural, raw material - Compostable material - Resistant to water vapour - Light weight: requires less structural support

Kultour
Location: San Francisco Topic: Opportunity in disaster The focus of Kultour was to develop a thesis through the exploration of a city selected by the professor. Amongst 14 other students the excursion took place in San Francisco, through prior research, and analysis it was the students task to consider what architectural influence the city has made on a global scale. After exploring such a popular city, it is inspiring to see how cultural and expressive the San Francisco streetscape is especially when considering the amount of earthquakes they have experienced. The focus for my thesis was the opportunity that can be presented in natural disasters. That through the destruction of structures such as the Embarcadero freeway, San Francisco reformed its identity through the reconnection to their waterfront. As well as the contribution of famous architects, such as Daniel Burnham designing a master plan that influenced the format of various areas of the city.
