Light and dark. Yin and yang. Hello and goodbye. For every coin there are two sides, and this month’s edition of Lightworker explores how, why and when to say goodbye to situations and mindsets that no longer serve you so that even more of your true essence can emerge into the light. Not surprisingly, each month’s theme creates a focus for my life and raises topics on a personal level to mirror the content of the magazine. July’s was no exception as I shed tears and bid farewell to a toxic relationship, negotiated frustrating business obstacles with as much graceful release as I could muster, and embraced heart‐ warming relationships with new friends. I learned a lot, laughed more than I imagined I would, and am now blessed with a deeper understanding of my role within the world. What’s more, the pain proved cathartic and I impressed myself with the inner courage and self‐belief that lay dormant within just waiting for a challenge to call it forth. My hope is that the words of wisdom within The Goodbye Issue will also empower you with the strength, gratitude and compas‐ sion (both for yourself and others) to make those changes that your intuition is urging you address, and to continue on your soul’s path with greater light, love and joy in your heart. Love and light

Focus the Light What is Joy? Joy is a feeling, the initial jolt of good energy that is then followed by the state of happi‐ ness. Joy is purer than happiness. We’re reminded of cartoons, song and laughter! Joy is exuberant smiles, an inner glow and feeling of peace; being energetically on fire with some kind of inner knowing that all is well. Joy seems to be triggered by an unusual and unexpected occurrence that brings an immediate and unsurpassed relief from all current issues. Joy is love, and a direct link to Source that comes to lift us (even if briefly) to a higher dimension. What do you think of when you think of Joy? Joy is a white bubble ‐ it floats along and bursts when it touches you, blessing you in that moment with unexpected goodness. “I’m reminded of being a child, times where things are simple, when I don’t overcomplicated things.” Children are often filled with joy due to their unmarred perspective of life, lack of any stress and freedom from ‘inner critic’ behaviour. “I think of Dolphins; they are anchors for Joy on Earth. They seem so ready to love uncon ditionally.” What gives you Joy? People: family and friends. Animals. Moments of laughter. Living my passions. Unex‐ pected blessings. Honouring where I am and enjoying moments without worry. Being around children, their untainted Joy cannot fail to lift the spirits. Joy is our relationship with our true selves, with Source. Anything that we are truly not (anxiety, depression, stress etc) is a block to our experiencing Joy. Joy and love are intrinsically connected. Behind Joy there is great love. Love opens you up to Joy.

Cutting The Cords: How To Identify And End A Toxic Friendship Good friends are worth their weight in gold, and then some! Strong friendships provide love, support, growth, and someone who’s got your back in a crisis. But what happens when you find yourself in a friendship that’s gone sour? Do you endure it, fix it, or end it? Do you have an obligation to be with your friend through thick and thin? Staying in a toxic relationship can lower your vibration which will affect your ability to fulfill your life purpose, so if you can’t save the relationship, you’ll have to disengage from it.
Do you have to be someone else? Can you be yourself when you’re around this friend, or do you have to tone it down, play it safe, not rock the boat? Are you free to discuss anything, or do you have to watch what you say to avoid triggering hot button issues? When you’re in a healthy non‐toxic friendship you should feel free to be yourself. True friends will accept you as you are and not require you to be some‐ thing you’re not. Your friends may not

They will support and encourage you, but also be honest if they truly feel you are headed for disaster. Is your friend disrespectful? Does your friend flake on you or show up late for your outings with no apol‐ ogy? Do they talk about you negatively behind your back to your other friends? Do they lie to you? Friends should be respectful of your time and your relationship. Time spent with friends should feel safe, loving, and nurturing, not stressful, annoying, or rude. Cutting the Cords So how do you remove yourself from a toxic friendship, especially one that has been around for a long time? You have to extricate yourself gently but firmly. If the relationship can actually be salvaged, go ahead and give it a try, but if a couple of months pass with no progress then you should disentangle from the friendship. Losing you as a friend could be the wake‐up call your friends need to make changes in how they conduct themselves in their other relationships. Let Go And Flow Graceful Release G is for Goodbye. It’s also for Grace; the energy needed to help us let go. Our attach‐ ment to relationships, lifestyles, thought patterns and beliefs about what’s right and possible for us can be entrenched over many generations and past lives. Often, we won’t let go until the pain of staying where we are is greater than the fear of change.

Goodbye To Old Patterns And Hello To Nurturing The Self
I firmly believe that no part of our deci‐ sion to change needs involve criticising or punishing our self. Delve deeper, this learning that we are undertaking is all part of the journey, we are not wrong for learning what is best for us. In fact, you are giving yourselves a gift. This is especially important when we are talk‐ ing about changing our ways of being. Even the fact that you are reading this magazine, or questioning your thoughts and behaviours, shows a willingness to change. Nurture that willingness, not the idea that you may have caused

yourselves a few challenges along the way. That is the past. How do we learn what we need to change, if we are not rubbed up against our own ego or situa‐ tions that cause us feelings of unease? Self‐nourishment Let us address this idea of nourish‐ ing our self. If we do not feel that we are worthy of loving or nurturing relationships, will we allow ourselves to embrace such unions? Will we hold ourselves in relationships that rein‐ force that we are not good enough? If we do not think that we are skilled or intelligent enough to do the job that we dream of, will we take the steps to move into a new work situation? Most importantly, if we do not feel that we are deserving of something better, will we be willing to let go of what we have now?
“
When addressing limiting beliefs and mind‐ sets that do not serve us, we are also ques‐ tioning the mindsets that are not nurturing and loving our self. One aspect of this is dem‐ onstrated in the people and situations that we choose to include in our life path, for if we had our own highest good at the forefront, we may not subject ourselves to remaining in situations and relationships that rein‐ force our own inner unease, discomfort and, sometimes, pain. Learning to let go of these situations, people and mindsets en‐ ables you to tap into an unlimited potential for fulfillment, and ultimately, peace and happiness.
better is waiting. Each day, allow ideas that you are worthy, you are deserving and ‐ most of all ‐ that you are allowed to enjoy the best in life. You can repeat these as sentences with emotion behind the words: “I allow myself to experience the best”. Or, allow yourself to tap into the feelings of acceptance, joy and nur‐ turing of yourself by visualizing yourself as the wonderful being that you are and enjoying the feelings that arise. You can ask yourself each morning, “What am I going to do today that will make me feel and think better about myself?’ Let each day include one positive step towards learning to love and care for yourself. Our highest good
As we begin to embrace more positive feelings towards our self, the question turns to what relationships, situations and habits we have in our life that do not resonate with this new idea of self A mindset that “something bad is bet nurturing, respect and love. We are moving away from distrust now, so let’s find more appreciation for what we can learn from ourselves, as much as where we can go forward. If you find that you are not able to hear your intui‐ tion then try taking a few deep breaths, relaxing and calming the busy mind. Then, simply ask yourself, “What is right for me now?” You can start listening to your intuition by making small choices and decisions to allow your feelings within to rise up and be heard. Prompt yourself with questions such as, “What do I feel like doing today?” “What do I feel like eating right now?” Learn to tap into what feels right for you. Allow yourself to trust this inner knowing, for it is putting your wellbeing at the forefront and that is your new way of being. Now we can turn to the deeper ques‐ tions: Does this situation in my life feel right for me?
Saying goodbye with love We do not need to move away from the old with resentment or frustration, for it is this situation or person that has al‐ lowed us to see ourselves in a new way. Gratitude for the learning can bring immense understanding, whereas anger and resentment can keep this discomfort within us as we move on to something new. People often feel that their actions will hurt another, but if you are moving away from another person to nourish yourself, remember that you are also creating the space for the other person to learn and grow. Just because

you decide to look after yourselves and change does not mean that everyone around you will do the same. Their resistance is part of their journey. If you are ready to move forward to reclaim your happiness, health and fulfilment, then go for it. It is your birthright after all. The universe will support you fully in this decision to move on to something that is better for you in every way.
Does this job nurture my inner desires for happiness? Does this relationship allow me to feel good about myself? Is this relationship right for me? If I did not fear moving forward, is there something else in my life I would rather be doing? Allow yourself this time to discover what it is that would fulfil you. Be open to looking at the world with the poten‐ tial for something new.

There are certain, and quite numer‐ ous, telltale signs on our planet and in our solar system at large that suggest a very different course of events than the orthodox tenet, and there are also other more esoteric signs that can be found around the world. Evidence that was left by our ancestors clearly suggests that they possessed a very extensive and extraordinarily detailed knowledge of these events, and of the behaviour and workings of our planet and solar system. There is also evidence that they based entire cultures on these celestial events and believed them to be moments of incredible significance for mankind and the Earth.

That’s a good question to begin with. What is good for me, and what is not? Opinions on this topic are wide, varied and mostly based on hot air and im‐ planted marketing values. Honouring Your Sensitivities As Lightworkers, you are very sensitive to the energies of the people who surround you. You pick up on negative thoughts and emotions much more easily than others, and are also affected more deeply than other people. Therefore, it is vitally important to your wellbeing to make sure you have a network of positive people around you, as much as possible. This applies to all areas of your life – work, friends, family, romance, spirituality etc. This often means that you need to weed out the toxic people to make room for the positive ones. Everyone has a few toxic people in their life. They can be obviously toxic as in the case of abusers, bullies, violent people, or those who always criticize. Toxic people can also be less obvious such as those who constantly complain about life in general, the passive‐ag‐ gressive guilt‐trippers, or relationships that are one‐sided with you being the only person doing the giving. Relationship links When we form a relationship to some‐ one, an energetic cord is created that connects us to that other person. The stronger the relationship, the stronger the cord. Empathic and intuitive ener‐ gies flow back and forth along this cord. This is why you and your best friend or spouse can finish each other’s sentenc‐ es. It explains how you can always tell

what that other person is feeling. One of the most difficult things to come to terms with regarding toxic people in your life is that they are often those closest to you: your parent(s), your significant other, or maybe even your own child. These people have the abil‐ ity to hurt you the most because you are extra sensitive to their negativity. It is also much easier for those closest to you to drain your energy because of the strong, open spiritual cord between you.

change in my energy, vibration and spirit, I knew I made the right choices. Whenever I am around my parents, I make sure I am shielded. Now I know that their negativity can no longer af‐ fect me or keep me from writing my own story.
I didn’t grow up in a very nurturing household. My father was very critical of everything I did, perhaps because I was the eldest of three children. If I brought home a report card with five A’s and one B, he would ignore the A’s and critcize me for the B. My mother was a passive‐aggressive person who seldom had anything positive to say. She was also good at handing down guilt trips and playing the victim role to get her children to do what she wanted them to.
At the same time, I also made the choice to limit my time with my moth‐ er. I don’t think she even realized how she acted or the impact her words had on others. As I limited my time more and more with her and she learned that the passive‐aggressive behavior and guilt‐trips no longer worked on me, her attitude began to change. She started to respect me more as a person. She would ask me for favors rather than simply expect me to be at her beck and call whenever she would complain about something. I have slowly started to allow myself to build a relationship with her.
Only you know what method will work best for you in any given situation. I know how difficult it can be to remove yourself from those closest to you when they are toxic to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well‐being. You may even feel guilty about cutting these people off, even though you’re only doing it out of love and respect for yourself. The important thing is that you stand up for yourself and do what you need to do in order to heal your soul. Let your heart and intuition guide you, and you will know you are doing the right thing.
When I was 33 years old, my father didn’t like my choice in boyfriends and told me that I disgusted him. The words cut right through my heart and tore into my soul. I made the choice that very day that, for the sake of my sanity, july 2010

Simon Welch
Saying Goodbye... Saying goodbye, letting go, giving up, leaving behind; whether it be to feelings, memories, emotions, people, or old habits and addic‐ tions, it can be difficult, but without a doubt it’s all an important and poignant part of our experience. Earlier this year I had to say goodbye to my mum as she sadly passed away due to cancer. I also recently said goodbye to many old behavioural patterns that it is very clear cannot continue if I am to evolve further as a spiritual being. It may seem a little odd that I casually mention such differing life experiences within the same paragraph. However, vastly different as they may be, saying goodbye has been a painful process across the board and I have, in fact, found myself also grieving for the po‐ tential loss of old ways of being.
“
I am convinced this is not an uncommon experience. Letting go of old habits can indeed be painful as they become deeply imbedded in our lives, and in many ways, often brought much com‐ fort from whatever it was that we were striving to achieve or avoid. Once we are serious about moving on though, and eventually do take responsibility for these old ways of being, it logically follows that there will be a period of discomfort and grief as we attempt to leave them behind. Letting go of that which we currently hold dear in the physical can be such an important part

Letting go of that which we currently hold dear in the physical can be such an important part of our spiritual development
of our spiritual development. I believe the things we see as challenges or ob‐ stacles are really just opportunities for us to grow and evolve; this being the inherent nature of the Universe.
matters that compound the original problem. And depending on what it is you’re saying goodbye to, if you don’t leave it behind eventually then there may never be that tomorrow of change that you so desire. The past
Taking responsibility is key. I spent so much time saying, “Oh, I’ll stop/start doing that tomorrow”, but tomorrow never comes unless we take responsi‐ bility and action. That may sound tre‐ mendously obvious and simple. Yes, it is. And yet so often, no, it isn’t. I found, therefore, that with some things in life, we just need some support, and that can be the first step in taking owner‐ ship for what you really wish to change but for some reason have not yet been able to. Whether it is finding a group of like‐minded people or some other in‐ tervention ‐ say a counsellor or a coach, for example – in my personal experi‐ ence, some things really don’t go away by themselves, no matter how many months or years you fool yourself that they will. This in itself can lead to feel‐ ings of failure and helplessness, which can develop into other painful Lightworkermag.com
But I don’t believe we should see these old ways ‐ neither now nor in retrospect ‐ as ‘bad’ experiences, per se. They are, after all, an integral part of our growth and evolution and therefore are all op‐ portunities. Essentially, all experiences play a vital role in each of us realising our own truth. As much as the experi‐ ences of others can be important and poignant catalysts for realisation and change in our lives, ultimately the ex‐ perience must be our own. After all, a map is only so good ‐ you have to expe‐ rience the journey and destination for yourself. And when it comes to what we deem as our problems and associ‐ ated sufferings in life, most of us have been there more than once so know the terrain very well, it’s the solutions we’re not so clear on. july 2010
Reframing the process There will always be old ways as we continue to grow and evolve, if we so choose to. Perhaps, we should there‐ fore embrace our ways and move on as we see fit, certainly not spending too much time beating ourselves up, chas‐ tising or judging ourselves. Ironically, this self‐berating will likely only serve to hold us back from the very place we wish to be, by the very nature of impos‐ ing negative thoughts upon ourselves. Instead, learn to treat each undesired habit as an opportunity, a hurdle if you like, to jump over and make yourself stronger while moving forward in your development.
others. So, we will remember, forget, remember again, forget again, and remember again, for as long and as many lifetimes as it takes. It is this very experience, this reflection of who we are not, along with the hope of positive change, which is the very driving force enabling us to evolve and realise our true nature and potential. With perseverance, we can and will be‐ gin to close those chapters in our lives that don’t serve us so well. We can begin writing new chapters, perhaps sprung forth and inspired from those that we read but that now become self‐realised and directly experienced. From here, we can start to develop, experience

Through this process, you are realising something you are not, whether it be once, twice, or a thousand times. Each time, you realise again and again that it’s not you, and not what you desire to be. This is progress in itself, no matter how many times we may slip back into an old way of being, as naturally some are inherently easier to overcome than

Goodbye Hetta Rogers’ background is in Art History and Literature. She spent the past 7 years training and working as a lawyer before quitting her job to find greater fulfilment, and now her days are filled with riding horses and trying not to get thrown off... Farewell; auf wiedersehen; arriveder‐ ci; au revoir: whatever language we speak, saying goodbye is often a tricky thing to do. This month, I want to focus on negative habits and how we might go about ridding ourselves of them with a greater degree of con‐ fidence and success. Let’s be honest: we have all been there to some degree or other. Some of us might have flashes of regret and shame when we drink too much, or smoke, or make late night trips to the fridge in search of chocolate, or overeat in general, or spend too much money on things we don’t want or need, or allow ourselves to think negative thoughts that exacerbate a poor self‐image, or… I could go on and on, as these examples are merely the more obvious ones. Whatever your negative habits (or habit, if you are blessed with only one) might be, they often take shape as a pattern of behaviour or a way of thinking that does us no real good and, if left unchecked, potentially quite a bit of harm. Good habits feel familiar and comfortable – for example, getting a good night’s sleep or eating breakfast every morning. Nega‐ tive habits might bring momentary feelings of comfort or pleasure, but once that is gone, they leave us feeling guilt‐ ridden.
from those around us? Rallying support The first piece of advice I would give – and this comes from personal experience – is not to shut out those people around you. Do not be afraid to rally support from those you trust to keep your confidence, and make sure you tell your support‐ ers in no uncertain terms what they can do to help you. Dieters are often advised to involve their partners or fami‐ lies in their quest to eat more healthily, as well as to involve them in their exercise routines. This is because we garner inspiration and motivation from shared experiences, and ‐ although some might call it guilt ‐ a desire not to let other people down. Incentives, in whatever shape or form, can be hugely powerful. The wake‐up call
Of course, many people will make the decision to change entirely on their own, but often the initial shove in the right direction comes from someone else. I frequently rely on the honesty and intuition of my friends and family for all sorts of guidance and support, and have done so many times in the past. That is part and parcel of that type of close relation‐ ship. If someone is kind enough to raise a difficult subject with you, show them the courtesy of listening. But remem‐ Breaking up is hard to do ber that no amount of words from anybody else is going to change you; you have to be open to the notion of change If breaking negative habits was easy, we might all be clean‐ and willing to take the necessary steps yourself in order to living, carefree models of virtue. But it isn’t easy… and we make it happen. aren’t. Breaking any habit can take a good deal of time and effort, a large pinch of positive thinking, patience and I will give you an example (from many years ago) of how persistence and ‐ most of all ‐ determination. We also need someone else’s words can have a huge impact: to pinpoint and control the state of near‐mindlessness we can find ourselves in when habits take hold – in other words, When I was 10 years old, I had a nasty habit of chewing my we do these things without thinking about them and with‐ nails. And, try as she might, I wouldn’t stop. I even got used to the foul‐tasting varnish she would put on my fingers to try and deter me. All this changed when a family friend, upon seeing my chewed nails, asked me what I thought it would look like to one day get married and wear a beautiful dress, but to have hands that were made unsightly because I had chewed my nails. For whatever reason, that was the trigger I needed to make me stop chewing my nails. And, from that day onwards, I never looked back. Be kind to yourself There are many self‐help guides on the market and blogs on the internet that advocate all sorts of methods for saying goodbye to one’s demons and ridding oneself of all those niggling habits. One thing I spotted a lot of these guides sharing is advice that we should be kind to ourselves to have any chance of succeeding. As I said, to make changes to one’s life with any degree of confidence, there has to be will‐ ingness and a determination to succeed. But there must also be room for give and take; room for ‘off’ days or slippages. Those who succeed will almost inevitably fail along the way, but they will pick themselves up and try again. Often, the best way to start is to avoid procrastinating: just take a deep breath and get on with it. No amount of discussion or plan‐ ning will get the task done.

Those who succeed will almost inevitably fail along the way, but they will pick themselves up and try again Inspiration When walking through London a few days ago, I thought of how to conclude this month’s article with a final word of wisdom. Seconds later, I spotted the following words em‐ blazoned on a large banner outside an office building in the heart of the City: “You must be the change you want to see in the world” (Mahatma Ghandi). For me, this says it all. To want better things for the world we live in, we need to better ourselves.

Why Goodbye Is The Hardest Word Ryan Pinnick is a passionate, inspirational and wise speaker and writer in the fields of personal development and wealth creation. Born in Cape Town, Ryan is now based in London and a leading light in the social media scene. There have been many times in my life where I said goodbye. And for me, saying goodbye is one of the most difficult things to do. But more often than not, every goodbye in my life leads to a hello.
As the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder
One of the most difficult goodbyes that I said is when I left Cape Town at the age of 21 to start a new life in London. It wasn’t only difficult for me, but very difficult for my mom being a single parent of an only child. I think we both felt a lot of fear at the time; not knowing if the other person was going to be safe; not knowing if someone was going to be there in the same
More recently, my grandmother passed away, and I found saying goodbye to her tremendously difficult. I spent a lot of time growing up with mom’s parents, but I really connected with my gran. My gran made sure that I always did my homework. My gran would help me with my times table in summer, lying by the pool. My gran would relentlessly quiz me on my spelling until I could spell all the words right. She would even throw cricket balls to me so that I could practise my batting. I give most of the credit for who I am today to my gran. Saying goodbye to her at her funeral was one of the most difficult goodbyes I have had to say so far. But the hello that I received from this goodbye was quite astound‐ ing. Shortly after the funeral, I realized that in the last 10 years of living in England, I had only seen my family for a total of 8 weeks. Saying good by to my gran opened a new way that we were there for each other ‐ to comfort, to laugh, hello for me where I found a much deeper love and desire for to love. Like I said earlier, more often than not every good‐ family. This led me to changing the structure of my business, bye in my life leads to a hello. And the hello that greeted me allowing more freedom to be with my family in Cape Town, from this goodbye was independence. I learned to fend for and to start creating a family of my own. myself and grow up. Something I feel I could not have learnt in any other way. Although goodbyes are very difficult, they are really op‐
More often than not, every goodbye in my life leads to a hello
Family goodbyes Another very difficult goodbye for me was when I said good‐ bye to my father at the age of 13 because my parents were getting a divorce. I was very confused and wondered if what was happening was my fault. I guess it is quite common for children to somehow think that they are responsible for their parents’ divorce. From this goodbye I learnt to love and sup‐ port my mom by becoming the man in the house. portunities for us to grow; to grow in strength; to grow in appreciation for what we are saying goodbye to. As the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Business goodbyes Even business goodbyes can very difficult, although experi‐ ence proves they can be a lot simpler because business re‐ lationships are ordinarily outlined in black and white. When one party does not fulfill its part of the deal then it’s likely that it’s times to say goodbye. Business goodbyes very often lead quickly to new and more fulfilling hellos.

Personal goodbyes Goodbyes are not only reserved for people or things. I said many goodbyes to myself over the last 31 years. I said good‐ bye several times to the identity and the image that I cre‐ ated, thinking they were important. Ryan the skateboarder. Ryan the cricketer. Ryan the international DJ. Ryan the employee. Saying goodbye to Ryan the employee was another one of the most difficult goodbyes I have ever said. I was saying goodbye to 11 years of career. I was saying goodbye to the security that my pay cheque was giving me. But more im‐ portantly, I was saying goodbye to a job that didn’t inspire me and I was saying hello to an exciting new life filled with possibilities and freedom, limited only by imagination.
The next time you find yourself in the position where you are saying or receiving a goodbye, be courageous and know that just around the corner there will always be a hello waiting for you
So you see, although we are always saying goodbyes. More often than not a goodbye leads to a hello. So the next time you find yourself in the position where you are saying or re‐ ceiving a goodbye, be courageous and know that just around the corner there will always be a hello waiting for you.

She resides in Toronto, Canada where she nurtures her budding career as an intuitive reader and healer and writes a blog to share the trials, triumphs and laughs along the way. I did it. Again. I know – I’ve done it a bazillion times before, but this time, it’s for good. I swear. I hope. Dear God – PLEASE let this be the last time!!! But it seems like no matter how many times I decide to kick him out of my life, he keeps crawling back with excuses about how he loves me and wants to look out for me; to save me from making huge mistakes; to rescue me from ruining my life. Ruin my life? RUIN MY LIFE?!!! I panic. That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind until he came back to warn me. What if he’s right? Oh dear God, he IS right! I’m RUINING MY LIFE!!! The thoughts shoot through my brain like bolts of lightning. Rapid breathing? Check! Sweaty palms? Ditto!
Self-Doubt sucks; I want to expose him for the jerk that he is and kick him out of my life for good
humble by believing we are ordinary, average and not very special, then it starts to become a problem. And Self‐Doubt? The last thing he wants us to do is feel like we’re worthwhile and deserving of good stuff in our lives. Why the heck would we want to hang out with a loser like him if we think we’re awesome, super‐cool people? Oh, he knows it. Self‐Doubt sucks; I want to expose him for the jerk that he is and kick him out of my life for good. Breaking up with Self‐Doubt I am a little nervous about this though. My past break‐ups with him, although constructive, haven’t really stuck. Like I said – he’s sneaky. After all, he’s been around, he knows how to get into my mind and next thing I know, he’s at my place for dinner again, nitpicking at everything from my cooking to the décor.
His timing and technique are just right. And he’s ever so patient. He leaves me alone for a while, lets me build up my self‐confidence for a bit. It goes so far that I even start to think that I’m something special in my own quirky kind of way. On top of that, I realize I have a lot to share – there’s something great inside of me that can only be better by let‐ ting it out. And then… then my pal Inspiration comes along! His strong voice used to comfort me – he knew how to keep me from disappointment and hurt, so it seemed. I wasn’t good enough to do this. And my idea for that certainly wasn’t golden either. Oh, how thankful I was to have him looking out for me like that. Self‐Doubt kept me humble, and being humble is good. It is good, isn’t it?
Oh dear! Oh, I’m blushing – it’s Self‐Doubt! He’s outside my window. He’s got his Casio keyboard playing in the background and he’s singing... Oh my – it’s the Unchained Melodies tune. How corny! How sweet! For me?!!! Oh wow, it’s so romantic! Oh, I forgive him – how can a girl stay mad at such a sweetie? I’m a sucker, I know. And each time he’s pulled this stunt, I’ve let him back in. Sigh.

She really has my best interests at heart, and that’s why she gets so dis‐ couraged whenever I rebound back to good ol’ Self‐Doubt. She’s always there backing me up when I try to resist his charms, but sadly, each time he wins me over I end up shut‐ ting her out. I can’t say I blame Inspiration for keeping her dis‐ tance when he and I are an item.

Change Is The Only Constant Mel Diamond is a passionate advocator of the Indigo cause. She wants to speak out to help and inspire other Indigo adults to become aware of who they are. Mel is a Reiki healer and teacher, sound healer, writer, singer, neo‐pagan and a student of the shamanic arts. “Someday change will be accepted as life itself.” Shirley MacLaine We Lightworkers are faced with change constantly. As inhabitants of this wonderful school we call Planet Earth, we notice on a daily basis how our global home is evolving and changing as the light of the Universe shines on us in new ways. We are change agents; holders of the new light ener‐ gies and the ones who feel the changes first and fullest. We are mirrors for what is happening on the planet. We change on a daily basis as our life‐lessons come to us one after the other with barely time for a plateau or breath of stillness in between.
We are transformers of energy and our life experiences contribute directly to the energy of the planet as a whole and soul ‐ love! A year ago I met a lovely man (an Indigo like me) who happened to live 2.5 hours away from me. For the longer term good one of us had to change location, and for various reasons it made sense that it would be me. This was not a conclusion that was easy for me to reach, however. There was a certain amount of resistance from me as I was reluctant to leave my heartland behind. But one day, I gave the notion some attention and realised that, actually, the thought of moving made me feel very happy. As much as I adored where I was living, if it’s a choice between beautiful skies and landscapes and being with the man I love.... it’s a no‐brainer really!
We are now approaching a time of great astrological shifting, the Cardinal Grand Cross Configuration in our solar system where Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will square and oppose each other, causing tension and upheaval here on Earth. It is a time of major changes in the run‐up to 2012. Truth and transformation are afoot! This is reflected in my life and I see it for what it is; all part of life’s rich tapestry and a vast gift of possibility for my own learning. The universal law of change Changing homes As I write this, I am preparing for another one of these life changes ‐ moving to a new town and a new chapter in the story of my life. It’s presented me with a real challenge; I moved to beautiful rural Suffolk after a particularly testing period of life that taught me a lot about myself, and being there was wonderful as a healing experience and chance to truly breathe and reflect on life’s events. My house was sur‐ rounded by fields and trees on a peninsula of land between two great rivers that have inspired many an artist and poet. I attained a sense of peace and connection to an environment that I craved all my life; I found a heartland, where my spirit was truly free, and I had no intention of leaving it.
This is a classic example of the machinations of the Cosmos, and a reminder that although we may forge links to people or places, we must not become so attached that we resist our true flow. Life may appear to settle down for a while, then something else will come along to get you moving in a dif‐ ferent direction again; physically, emotionally or spiritually. My heartland served a healing purpose for me, but the time had come to move on and make room for new and exciting things in my life. The catalyst was love.
Remember, we are transformers of energy and our life ex‐ periences contribute directly to the energy of the planet as a whole. Therefore, life for us will not be still for long. It’s important to appreciate things as much as possible without becoming completely attached to them ‐ let your life’s ex‐ But leave it I did, for something much more vital for my body periences flow through your fingers like water, enjoying the page thirty seven

sensation but allowing it to flow on through you. The trick is not to resist changes when they present themselves, but to instead recognise that you’re being led on a journey towards greater learning, personal strength and spiritual growth. If you resist too hard, you’ll create a spiritual and emotional block for yourself. Take a deep breath, step into the resist‐ ance and see what is really there; be guided by your intui‐ tion. It may not be as scary as you perceive. Let go without fear and with ultimate trust in the Universe; you are being guided with a purpose.

them fully, for they will pass by in time. Feel the peaks and troughs as you ride the waves of life. Embrace change and make a friend of it as a catalyst for opportunity. Affirm that all is well in your world, and that change is progress. You are safe and protected, even during times of upheaval. Change may sometimes seem like a period of sacrifice or compromise, but if you scratch the surface you’ll see the greater good. In order for new and wonderful things to come into your life, you must first make room for them. I’m ex‐ changing the woods and fields of Suffolk for a new phase of opportunity and growth, and to strengthen my connection to a person very dear to me. Now I’m in a new location and forging a new life, things may be wobbly for a while, but it’s OK. I know all is well and as it should be. I am loved, sup‐ ported and blessed. I allow myself to feel it all as deeply as possible, for in the depth of feeling is the essence and pas‐ sion of life, which is our gift as spiritual beings living a human experience.
“We change, whether we like it or not.” Ralph Waldo Emerson Rebirth Whenever we experience change we shed a layer of ourselves and a new, truer and stronger one shines through. We learn so much so fast that the obsolete parts of ourselves are left behind with the energy returned to the Cosmos for another purpose. This shedding and saying goodbye to the obsolete can be a painful experience, bringing with it an outpouring of emotion. Do not fear these emotions; fear is what holds us back from being who we truly are. Allow yourself to feel

I remember only too well that desperate feeling that something’s got to change. I was living on the edge in just about every area of my life. My business was on its knees, I had been robbing Peter to pay Paul, up to my eyeballs in debt, no money coming in and the bank was about to repossess my home. As a sin‐ gle mother of 3 young children, whose husband had disappeared and left me to deal with everything as it crumbled around me, the turning point came when I had just £10 left in my purse with no idea where the next penny was coming from.
The Universe and its principles take over and amplify this signal by adding all the energy required to rearrange our personal reality and manifest a new life experience.
How had my life come to this? The uncertainty and fear I was facing was overwhelming and everything was out of my control… or so I thought.
I was also very aware of the magnetic force of our feelings, that if we were feeling low or unhappy, we would at‐ tract more on that low negative vibra‐ tion. To enable myself to feel better I would focus on all that I had to be grateful for, which at the time did not seem very much, but my health, family and friends have always been very im‐ portant to me, and I felt lucky to have them. I tried very hard to do something that would cheer me up and help me focus on the positive things around me.
I desperately started reading and re‐ searching ways to improve my life as it suddenly dawned on me that if I didn’t do something and take control of my situation, no one was going to do it for me. What I learnt was very exciting. I learnt that there is a far bigger picture to life than the everyday challenges we face. I learnt how our thoughts, feelings and beliefs (our consciousness), forming our picture of reality, are the energy we project out into the Universe and that this signal, this instruction attracts similar energies to us, because like at‐ tracts like. One day I finally ‘got it’. I needed a paradigm shift in my thinking. I liter‐ ally had to say goodbye to my old way of living. I had to change my ‘thinking system’ from one of negativity and fear to one of positivity and hope. I chose lessons to learn in this life and if I didn’t change my thinking, I would continue with the same life experience.
Every spare moment throughout the day I concentrated on my affirmations (powerful, positive present‐tense statements), visualisations and goals, and I continued to read positive, uplift‐ ing personal development and spiritual books, which reaffirmed this way of living. july 2010
I meditated daily which helped enor‐ mously and I understood the impor‐ tance of letting go of the past and any negative emotion and exercising forgiveness of others and indeed my‐ self. I found EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, to be incredibly powerful in dissolving any negativity and this was something I learnt to do myself.
My passion is to share and help others get in the flow of Conscious Living. Here are some practical tips you can put to use immediately so that YOU too can create a life of happiness and abundance.
As time has gone by I have managed to develop a purely positive focused en‐ ergy. It takes time and it takes practice, but when you crack it, it is fantastic! Whatever I focus on manifests in my life; it is truly amazing.

Afterwards, I went to visit the cathedral, where I met a priest. “See how the afternoon sun makes everything more beautiful in here,” he said. I liked this comment, we talked a little, and he showed me around the altars, cloisters, and court‐ yards of the temple. In the end, he of‐ fered me a book he had written about the church; but I did not wish to buy it. Tiberius laughed and told her to leave; how could she have the nerve to sell six books for the same price as nine? The Sybiline burned another three books and went back to Tiberius with the only three remaining books: “They cost the same ten talents of gold.” In‐ trigued, Tiberius ended up buying the three volumes and could only read a small part of the future.
“I don’t want to make a confession. I just came to buy a book about this church, written by a man named Stanislau.” The priest’s eyes glinted. He came out of the confession booth and returned a few minutes later with a copy of the book. “How marvellous of you to have come especially for that!” he said. “I am Fa‐ ther Stanislau’s brother, and this fills me with pride! Inspire Amma is a truly amazing, generous and inspirational lady; over the course of the last 38 years she has physically hugged more than 28 million people around the world. Regions in all corners of the globe, a myriad of cultures and socio‐economic strata all benefit from sharing Amma’s love and devotion, which sometimes ex‐ tends to 24‐hour sittings where she can hug up to 50,000 people at a time. The cause behind her self‐sacrificing, charitable efforts is that “Love is the foundation of a happy life. Knowingly or unknowingly we are forgetting this truth.” Her Indian ashram is home to 3,000 people, and thousands more visit every day. They share Amma’s vast network of charitable projects to build homes for the homeless, give pensions to the destitute and provide medical care for the sick. Challenge Where many would merely talk about the lack of love in modern society, Amma chose to act on this, and in the process she challenges others to awaken to the consciousness that “love is our true nature. When we do not express love in our words and actions it is like honey hidden in a rock. It is of no use to anyone. This mu tual sharing and expressing of love should begin at home between married couples and between parents and children. Only then will there be peace and harmony at home and in society.” Educate At present, Amma spends most of the year travelling throughout India and the world in order to uplift suffering humanity through her words and the comfort of her embrace. Countless people around the globe are contributing to this lov‐ ing endeavour. Such is the impact of Amma’s vocation that she inspired the birth of Amrita TV, a 24‐hour satellite channel with the mission of delivering vibrant, youthful, value‐oriented television entertainment, for the entire family. Amrita TV bagged 15 Kerala State Television Awards in its very first year of operation as testament to the importance of their collective work.
