Has your month been one of joy and contentment? Or were struggles and doubts more prevalent? Regardless of the answer, simply know that as of this moment, your life begins afresh. Yes, it does. For that is the beauty of life; in every moment we can make new choices, think different thoughts and create greater realities. Do not let the past trap you in its lure, for it will always seek to do so. Instead, choose to believe in a different, better future. The theme of Energy is particularly appropriate when the topic of climate change and its potential impact on Mother Earth is often found amongst media headlines. In this May edition, we explore two meanings of the word – both in environmental and vibrational contexts ‐ for at their heart, they are one and the same. The Energy supplement highlights ecological solutions to heighten awareness of our role as mere custodians who are re‐ sponsible for treading gently on this planet, and leaving but a faint footprint. They are not advertisements. I wish you all an energised, authentic and insightful month ahead! Love and light

Focus the Light Hope Knows no fear. Hope dares to blossom Even inside the abysmal abyss. Hope secretly feeds And strengthens Promise. Sri Chinmoy
Do you want to connect with more like‐minded people? Do you want to do more to help the global energy shift? And do you want to share your wisdom with greater collective intent? Then ‘Focus the Light’ groups are for you! These groups will be held around the world for those committed to the art of positive living. The concept is simple – to co‐create, using thought, discussion and intention. By talking in small, focused, group settings, we unlock the wisdom that already lies within each of us, just waiting to be shared with our peers and beyond... Each month there will be a different topic, and 3 discussion questions within that, which form the focus of the co‐creation. The groups will also include a short meditation to ground the creation into reality. Everyone will receive the opportunity to share insights ‐ where they resonate with the topic ‐ and then you take the energy and wisdom that is created into the ‘real’ world, applying and offering wherever relevant. The Universe will bring those opportunities to you, in the spirit of synchronocity and co‐creation. There will also be global interaction between the groups via Lightworker Magazine’s Posterous page and the Facebook fan page. The co‐creations, progress and feedback from these global groups will be published in Lightworker Magazine every month.
The aims of the ‘Focus the Light’ groups: ‐ to encourage people to talk ‐ to raise individual awareness ‐ to learn from each other ‐ to create change, via many individual energy shifts that contribute to the global energy shift of the planet
Co-creation: Defined in this context as the process of creating a new energy - harnessing your uniqueness with the uniqueness of others, along with the infinite energy of the Universe.
Join a Group The first group meeting will be held during the second week of May. To find out more, contact your nearest group leader. And if there isn’t a local meeting, why not create a Focus the Light group of your own! Contact Mel@lightworkermag.com for more information.

Everything is Energy
As within, so without
We are told by new science that every‐ thing we experience as solid ‘stuff’ in the world is in fact energy organised as waves or particles. Even our physical bodies and the chair you are sitting on right now are made of energy.
As we think, so we are.
Anyone involved in the healing arts will also know about ‘subtle energy’; the essence of consciousness (thought, feeling and awareness) that moves within and around our bodies and the physical realm, imbuing it with certain qualities. As an energy intuitive, I know that these two types of energy are in constant dialogue and dance with one another, creating a hugely powerful effect on our world. It is this dance that forms the essence of Eco‐Energetics.
BIOG Kimberley Jones is an energy intuitive, visionary and master healer known as ‘The Lightworker’s Lightworker’. A steward of personal and planetary transformation, Kimberley is passionate about teaching ‘Conscious Living’ and ‘Energy Intelligence’ as 21st Century life skills.

We see what we expect to see, and we affect and effect our environment based on the state of our own con‐ sciousness and our own energy. 90% of our mental activity is unconscious. We have thousands of thoughts a minute and are only conscious of a few. Every‐ thing we’ve experienced is recorded in our energy fields. These ‘recordings’ continue to play over and over again, transmitting a ‘signal’ or vibrational output that prompts a creative effect on our lives and our world. This is why each of us becoming more consciously aware is attributed as the solution to improving our lives and the state of the world. At the moment, we see a world in trouble, a world largely created by an unconscious population. We disconnected from our creative power and lost sight of the fact that each of our inner worlds is constantly creating the outer one. If our inner worlds are in a mess and we are unaware of this, we will go around creating, attracting and manifesting an outer world which is also in a mess. Lightworkermag.com
Take the law of attraction for example. This law dictates that it is our vibra‐ tional output that is the main creative force when we want to manifest some‐ thing into our lives. And there is plenty of information out there to help ensure you are sending out the right signals to get what you want. At this very moment, 1% of the 6 billion people on earth hold almost half the global wealth. 200,000 acres of rainforest are burned every day. We use 1,000 barrels of oil a second and live in over‐crowded, emotion‐ ally disconnected towns and cities. Enough is enough. It’s time to understand how this happened. It’s time to reclaim our creative power and to embrace a positive personal and collective future.
As custodians of Mother Earth, what we do in the world is important, but it is HOW we live, think, feel, love and behave ‐ plus the quality of our energy whilst doing those things ‐ that creates our world. The energy of our thoughts and feelings is also absorbed into the ‘stuff’ of the physical world around us.

people and our physical world. We can’t have it one way and not the other. We are willing to embrace our creative, vibrational power when it comes to finding love or making money, but not so keen to accept the same level of creative responsibility when it comes to the state of our planet. Toxic thoughts carry an energy that attracts, manifests and creates a toxic environment. The process is exactly the same as when we use our thoughts to create a loving feeling and loving en‐ ergy to attract love into our lives. The universal laws operate in exactly the same way for toxic thoughts as they do for loving, positive ones. There is no judgement in nature. What is YOUR ‘Energy Footprint’? Negative Energy Zooming Around the Drama Triangle If you suspect there’s a compelling yet destructive energy in any of your relation‐ ships, a model that can be fantastically help‐ ful is Stephen Karpman’s Drama Triangle. He published this model of conflict and manipula‐ tion, which can reveal valuable insights about family, couple, work or friend relationships. The dramatic energy keeps the momentum zooming around the triangle, to everyone’s disadvantage. You may recognise positions that are dominant or more comfortable for you! (See Drama Triangle 1). Behaviour in all three positions avoids taking appropriate responsibility for oneself and creates a channel for negative energy. Usually, there is also a pernicious shift of role after a while, perpetuating the hurt. (See Drama Tri‐ anle 2). The game continues because each person can shift position and change role, precisely in order to avoid both re‐ sponding appropriately to the other(s) and taking responsibility for one’s own behaviour and the outcomes. The in‐ tensity of the changes in role and the importance of the subject matter all add to the drama, which can be very compelling; hooking the participants

The dynamic in the Drama Triangle is such that the Persecutor can rapidly flip into Victim, Victim into Persecutor, Rescuer into Victim. Each position is equally accessible (and at great speed) to any of us whilst we refuse to take responsibility for ourselves in relating to another person. hide, not only from others, but also from ourselves. Attempts to avoid experi‐ encing our vulnerability are, however, likely to result in the powerlessness, disempowerment or abusiveness of the Victim, Rescuer or Persecutor. When we are Vulnerable, taking responsibil‐ ity for ourselves may take the form of recognising that we would benefit from some support, and asking for the help we need. However, we do not assume someone else has to help us, nor do we resent them if they choose not to.
Change is possible However, it’s important to recognise that any movement out of the Drama Triangle and into the Winners’ Triangle involves change – yet letting go of fa‐ miliar, if destructive, energy patterns can be anxiety‐provoking and threat‐ ening. So maybe select some less emo‐ tive, less urgent triangular patterns for your initial experiments at moving into the Winners’ Triangle. Other players may resent your attempts to change the energy, so be prepared for some resistance and work on staying in your winning role. Energetically, you’ll be making a positive change for yourself.

Being Vulnerable The thought of experiencing our vulner‐ ability can be scary, even frightening. Paradoxically, the actual experience can lead to unexpected empowerment. The Persecutor would start to express their feelings and value the other person more highly, becoming more Assertive. The Victim would begin by respecting their own worth and abilities, becom‐ ing more adept at progressive steps towards what they would really like to happen. Moving away from a position may 2010

Powerfully Magnetize Your Life Energy is an amazing thing. It provides us with basic needs such as power, mobile phones, internet, cars and hot water. It also gives us life. Without energy in our bodies, we are simply a physical mass. As energetic beings, we react to the energies of people, places and frequencies around us. At the same time, we are af‐ fecting energies in our world, because the power of our thoughts and feelings create an energy field that others can feel. This ‘energy’ is something that cannot be seen or measured, but it is real, and it is the most powerful tool we possess for healing ourselves. Did you ever notice how happy, posi‐ tive people always seem to experience good things happening for them? And people who are negative, pessimistic and untrusting always seem to fall into unpleasant situations and continuously have more complaints in life? How does that happen? It’s all about energy!

Recently, I was on a working holiday in Bali, Indonesia. I was extremely busy in the weeks before arriving with no time to research where to stay or make any bookings. I sent an email to a friend who was recently in Bali and asked if she knew any places to stay in Ubud. She gave me the name of one place. No phone number or website, just the name. I placed full trust in the universe that all would be ok, despite the fact that I was arriving into a town host‐ ing an international festival and the chances were that many places would be fully booked.

Finally, we found the place – it was a beautiful little garden bungalow in the heart of downtown Ubud, a complete oasis surrounded by flowers, trees and greenery. They had a room available and all was perfect – the place was quiet and clean, the staff were angels and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Balinese miracles
As I was getting ready to leave Ubud, I decided to pick up a free Bali magazine just to look for any places that appealed to me for the remaining 2 weeks of the holiday. Again, I had no guidebook or reservation for the next place to stay. As I paged through the magazine, I found a beautiful ad for a 5‐star resort somewhere in Bali – there were photos of cliffs, beaches and amazing views, and I thought to myself, “Wow, I would Upon landing in Bali, I took a taxi to the love to stay there!” I left the page open town of Ubud and gave the driver the and placed the magazine down on Lightworkermag.com

Faeries: The Custodians of Mother Earth Whilst angels are the celestial guardians of the Universe, the faeries are the angels of the Earth. They are the spirits of nature ‐ the nature angels. The role of a faerie is many and varied, but essentially their function is to nurture, nature, guard and protect animals. More and more people are connecting with and seeing faeries at the moment, and this is due to the urgency of what is happening with the planet at this time.
“
Faeries are all around us; it is just that we cannot ordinarily see them. They belong to our physical world and also their realm ‐ Faerie Land ‐ which is hidden within our world and resonates at a higher energetic frequency than ours. This explains why it is difficult for humans, who are of a heavy dense energy, to see them. Faeries withdrew from human view centuries ago, when Christianity took over from the old religion. Faeries had been a big part of the Celtic way as nature was revered by humans, and indeed still is by modern Pagans. Pass your hopes and dreams over to the faeries But because of the faeries’ magical abilities to create what they desire, WE too can call upon the faeries to assist US! Faeries generally look to see what they can get in return, but more often than not will assess us to see if we are acceptable to them. They look to see if we have done unselfish deeds for the environment, such as pick up rubbish, be kind to animals and recycling. If we haven’t, then they might set us tasks such as picking up rubbish. If you walk past an empty coke can, crisp packet or the like and suddenly feel compelled to pick it up, you can be sure that the faer‐ ies are behind it. Go for it ‐ because this will strengthen their trust and herald a wonderful new relationship with the faeries. Lightworkermag.com

The Alpha and the Omega I am sure you’ve heard the phrase “As Above, so Below.” We seldom reflect on what this really means, and even more rarely contemplate that the connections to the Above and the Below are integral com‐ ponents of our spiritual make up.

While you can have lots of fun in an ‘Alpha chakra’ state, one of the drivers for doing it in the first place lurks at a point a few centimetres below our Root chakra. The Omega chakra is what con‐ nects our whole consciousness to that of the Earth. More specifically, to Lady Gaia, which is the consciousness of our Mother Planet. We go about our days thinking we are separate from each other and every‐ thing in the Universe. Such is the per‐ vasiveness of the illusion. We are in fact an integral part of the whole. The consciousness of Lady Gaia is what gives us life‐bearing grounding. It does so by holding you and I, all living things ‐ and indeed the air we breathe ‐ to the planet. Accordingly, a strong

The breath being the force that evokes and facilitates the flow which is, in turn, provided for us by Lady Gaia’s ground‐ ing force. Such is the complexity of our Spaceship Earth. A Planetary Ascension There is much talk about Ascension and 2012. What is less known is that the Ascension (or Descension as I prefer to see it, but that’s another story!) is also a planetary Ascension. All consciousness expresses Free Will, and this includes the consciousness of the planet, Lady Gaia. Lady Gaia has expressed the intention to ascend, but here’s rub: it’s easier for the planet to do this with the collusion of other consciousnesses on the planet. Naturally, the bees and all cetaceans are in on the act, but Lady Gaia really needs the assistance of any self‐aware consciousness that can connect with the super‐consciousness ‐ and that means us. Somewhat ironically, it is our self‐awareness, and the illusion of sep‐ arateness, which has obscured these realisations in our modern world. The Planetary Ascension is the real reason for getting in touch with our Alpha chakra point and allowing the wisdom that we connect with to flow via our Omega chakra to the planetary consciousness. It is also why so many Workers of Light have incarnated on the planet at this transitionary time.

United we thrive... The Law of Attraction teaches of the power of focused thought and emotion to create our desires.
Consequently, in the book ‘Hidden Messages in the Water’, we also learn the power of words, both spoken and written. Words, thoughts and emotions all emit their own individual vibration, and since we are vibrational beings, these all have a tremendous impact on our lives, whether we realise it or not. Collectively, this forms the notion that we are constantly co‐creating the real‐ ity that we live.

the intention sending process. Transforming pain and loss into a gift of learning Following the devastation in Haiti, many questions begin to surface in our minds. Why do such disasters occur? What purpose do they serve? In my opinion, sometimes it takes a tragedy for us humans to re‐evaluate our lives; to consider what’s not working, in order to make necessary changes that under any normal circumstances wouldn’t be made. Sometimes the tragedy takes the form of a natural disaster, financial ruin, or the loss of a loved one. Following any such event, at some point a decision is made to shift from grief and victimisa‐ tion to realising that we came here to Earth not to struggle in our challenges, but to conquer and overcome. This is the great shift that humanity is begin‐ ning to face now, and will continue to face in the years ahead. When we learn to flow with these changes, rather than fight them, we can ease the pressure of what is yet to come. Simply by meditating on the question, “what is my life purpose and am I following that path?” will open up a new window of opportunities that will lead to the answers that you are seeking. Another method is to write out the question on paper and place it under your pillow. Every night until you get the answer, you hold the question in your mind as many times may 2010

opportunities that will lead you to the answers that you are seeking as you can before drifting off to sleep. Should both methods yield no result, you may wish to seek the help of a spiritual counsellor. The spiritual and metaphysical practices have spiked to record levels in the last several years as a result of individuals who have asked themselves this very same question. Following your true path provides for a joyful career transition and much happier lifetime overall. Some of you are natural healers, while others will become spiritual teachers, authors and the like. When you make this necessary shift to become the true essence you were born to be, you will notice that the difficulties you previously encountered will magically melt away! Positive intention groups For those of you already on your path ‐ and if you are so inclined to assist in making an additional positive impact ‐ I encourage you to seek out and become an active participant in one or more in‐ ternet intention groups. Hi all, I hope this April and the coming Strange then, that the minute the sun comes out and we spring have given you some more, er, smell fresh grass‐clippings for the first time all year, we spend more time out and about ‐ be it going for a bike ride or spring in your step?! doing the gardening. Yep, I hear you, the summer’s great, but the spring brings Spring into action with it seemingly infinite possibilities and potential. With all this new energy fizzing around and the extra vitamin D giving you a natural boost – I’m the fitness guy, I couldn’t possibly finish my intro without putting something in about the body – now is the time to take those positive feelings and added energy, and get yourself ready for the summer!
There is nothing better for your body than to USE IT! By ex‐ ercising hard in the gym and eating right, you create the abil‐ ity to fully enjoy and immerse yourself in Nature’s newfound accessibility. Pair the two and see what you can achieve this summer.
Using energy produces more energy. That is a fact.
Activities you could try, and maybe fall in love with, include: ‐ Water skiing ‐ Kayaking ‐ Trail running ‐ Mountain biking ‐ Orienteering ‐ Hiking ‐ Rock climbing ‐ Endurance events like triathlons etc
I lose count of the number of times clients say to me ‐ after adherence to their training for a consistent time (stick with it if you’ve recently started, results are just around the corner) – how they feel much more energetic and more prepared to face life. Energy is a funny thing. Let’s think about the winter for a second. The days are short, the evenings cold and dark, and the heating bill exponential! It would make sense to think we have more energy in the winter, based on the fact that we are cooped up all day and don’t feel like going out in the evening. We drive everywhere because it’s always cold or raining and are generally less active. A great warm, dry, useful way to spend your time is to go to the gym, but I totally understand that the stew in the oven is far more appealing.

All in Nature’s Playground, the great outdoors. Another question for you: why do you exercise? We don’t perform seemingly endless squats and lunges in the gym so that we get really good at doing... you guessed it, squats and lunges. Exercising is fun, challenging and enjoyable, but at the very basic level it is a means to an end: results.
So start using all your energy, and enjoy the end results! may 2010 Lightworkermag.com

My Top 3 Tips for Maximum Energy this Spring 1. Get up an hour earlier
3. Get out!
I know, it sounds counter‐productive but hear me out. Get‐ ting up earlier allows you time to energise your day by eating breakfast before your commute, exercising in the morning (greater endorphin release and metabolism boost) or simply organising and prioritising your day, thus making you more productive and accountable to yourself. Plus, it’s lighter in the AM, meaning it doesn’t feel like such a chore!
By enjoying the weather your mood and energy levels will definitely increase. Scientifically speaking, your vitamin D levels are topped up and this is vital for energy release. Non‐ sciency speaking, people are just happier in the sunshine. How often in the winter do you see dog owners throwing Frisbees about? How excited do you get when you see and hear an ice cream truck? (Not saying you have to have one every time you see one mind you!) My advice? Get out and soak it up!
2. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies The spring and summer months bring with them a host of produce we don’t usually get the chance to enjoy. Sample them all by making a big fruit salad of at least 5 fruits you haven’t tried before or that are specific to the season. Your body gets accustomed to the same old, same old. If you give it something new and fresh it will be flushed with new vita‐ mins and minerals.

Energy Hetta Rogers’ background is in Art History and Literature. She spent the past 7 years training and working as a lawyer before quitting her job to find greater fulfilment, and now her days are filled with riding horses and trying not to get thrown off... Most people will be familiar with the expression ‘good things come to those who wait’. It advocates the virtue of patience; telling us that we need a good deal of it to get what we want. What the phrase does not tell us is that – 99% of the time – getting what we want also takes a considerable amount of energy, be it physical, emotional or intellectual. After all, what we often attribute to or perceive as ‘luck’ is in fact a combination of perspiration and inspira‐ tion, rather than just good fortune. I am a great believer in the idea that one gets back what one puts in. This applies in almost every sphere of our lives: work, leisure, relationships, friendships, health and wellbeing. This month, I want to offer readers a few of my thoughts on how to achieve more of what you want by putting your energy to better use. Let us take a few common examples, all of which I have experienced first‐hand: Work Picture the situation: you are discontented with your current job and are looking for a new direction, or enjoy what you

As somebody once said to me: shake a few trees; you never know what plums may fall. Time It is a truth universally acknowledged that there are never enough hours in the day, well, certainly not for doing the things that we enjoy. One of my biggest frustrations is the sensation that minutes during the working week feel like hours, and yet – miraculously – fly by in seconds at the week‐ end. Sunday evening’s sinking feeling that Monday will bring with it all the stresses of work is far too common. Oddly, it is the weekends during which I am out and about, visiting friends, making plans and so on that time moves forward at a more palatable speed. I still cannot explain why that is, but (until someone proves otherwise) will assume it relates to the notion that we get back what we put in. So, the next

Use a Mirror Not a Magnifying Glass Rachel Willis is one of the country’s leading spiritual business specialists; with one eye on the bigger picture, she advises clients how to achieve abundance – both individually and collectively ‐ within the realm of heart‐based living. She is also an inspirational writer and Editor of Lightworker Magazine. How often do we find ourselves wound up by a colleague, partner, fam‐ ily member, friend or even stranger? And how often do we rant, rave and blame that person for what they said or did? Going over and over it in our heads ‐ or with an unfortunate friend – and building a watertight case for the prosecution?
It may be that your boss asks you to get a report finished ahead of an already tight schedule. The magnifying glass shows them as demanding, unfair and selfish. However, the mirror shows us that we don’t like being told what to do and a part of us yearns to be our own boss and not taking orders.

It started innocently enough… Two years ago, I decided that I wanted to be healthy and fit. I didn’t just think I ‘should’ be healthy and fit, but I genuinely wanted it. Every day I would think about it, and that would influence my decisions accordingly. Sure, I had a vision of my end result – being slim and strong, and able to make good on my joking promises to kick people’s butts. But looking back, I’m not so sure it
How to bring your dreams into reality I’m glad I realised my achievement wasn’t due to pure luck, and that the results are completely reproducible. And that’s the part that has me excited; I’m working on another transformation these days – my career. Here are the steps I believe can get me there, and you’re welcome to give them a try too. 1. Dream Dream big, or dream small, but make sure it brings a smile to your face, butterflies to your stomach and a twinkle to your eye. As simple as this step sounds, it used to be hard for me to come up with anything more detailed than simply wanting to be ‘happy’. Now, I have something more specific in mind: I
Dream big, or dream small, but make sure it brings a smile to your face, butterflies to your stomach and a twinkle to your eye was the outcome I envisioned that helped me get there, but want to work for myself, share my passion for life with others rather the notion that I was, indeed, already there. and make both their lives and mine, happier and healthier. Sure, I had some weight to lose, some huffs to puff and junk food to toss, but the second I decided that I wanted to be healthy, I started to live my life as a person who was. Not one who wanted to be soon, or who would be in two months. No, I was living the life of a healthy person NOW, whether my body felt that way or not. I learned that the spirit can do things instantly – such as being healthy – and when it does, it’s only a matter of time before the body catches up. And that’s what did it. It got the momentum going. It shifted me into another gear. And the Universe put its weight behind me to help (if you’ll excuse the pun!). page thirty five
2. Make friends with that dream Pledge your scout’s honour, or whatever you need to do, but you need to swear to the dream that you love it and want it with all your might. My dream and I, we’re inseparable these days, but I have to say that we did have some commitment issues at first. This would be a good time to introduce step 3.

know:adventure 3. Shut out ‘that voice’
5. Let the adventure begin!
You know that little voice inside your head, the one that says, “This is not the right time”, “Where are you going to get the money for this?”, “What makes you think you can change things?” and of course, “You know the world will explode if you do this?” You need to ignore that voice. And if it’s so loud that you can’t ignore it, you need to fight with it. Fight HARD!!!
Really, the Universe is the most awesome friend. As soon as your spirit believes in your dream, it becomes true, and it’s just a matter of getting the rest of your being to join it. To help you do that, the Universe nudges you along; sometimes subtly, other times like a smack in the head! Your job is just to keep believing and following. Personally, I find this is the most fun part, because the hints can be so random. Things the Universe nudged me to do range from giving a pack of oracle cards to a friend, to quit‐ ting my job. And blame it on my issues with authority, but I love how each time I follow the nudge, it’s like sticking it to the Mean Lady!
It’s perfectly acceptable to sit there like a four‐year‐old with your fingers in your ears yelling, “I’m not LIS‐TEN‐ING!” Se‐ riously, whatever it takes. Whether you ignore the voice or fight back, just be sure to never believe any voice ‐ whether it comes from you or someone else ‐ that pokes holes into your dream. Always believe your dream. I had trouble with ‘that voice’. I even gave it a name – she’s the ‘Mean Lady’. Although she has many different ways of wording it, her message to me is this: “Sylvie, you are one insane girl to think that you can make a living talking about angels. Everyone thinks you’re crazy – give it up now before you embarrass yourself even more.” Those are harsh words. I just cringed as I typed them. Cring‐ ing is a soul‐destroying feeling, and I eventually got sick of it. So I put together some fighting words: “I love working with angels, it makes me happy and brings joy to others. It’s in everyone’s best interests for me to follow my heart and bring more goodness to the world.” When I say this, the feeling is the equivalent of a great big hug. Instant cringe suppres‐ sant! 4. The Universe is your friend. And it’s a good friend. It’s always listening and it will stick up for your beliefs. But that’s where it gets tricky. If you believe in something that brings you happiness, having the Universe cheer you on is super! But what if you believe you know how to be happy, but it’s just out of your grasp? The Universe hears this and translates it to “I know how to be happy, but I’m not quite ready for it yet”. And it doesn’t want to push you if you’re saying you’re not ready. So it waits. It gives you situations where you can avoid your dream for now. But the second you change your mind and believe you want and deserve your dream, there the Universe will be, backing you up all the way. may 2010
On my own adventure, I went through the steps several times, and not always chronologically. Heck, until recently I didn’t even realise there were steps! But that seems to be perfectly ok, and I find the more I work at it, the easier each step becomes ‐ especially the dreaded Step 3. There is, however, one last rule that I find tremendously helpful: try to have fun, and always, always give thanks.

Nothing Sweet About Me: I am what I eat (and so are you) Mel Diamond is a passionate advocator of the Indigo cause. She wants to speak out to help and inspire other Indigo adults to become aware of who they are. Mel is a Reiki healer and teacher, sound healer, writer, singer, neo‐pagan and a student of the shamanic arts. Since I signed up for this Authentic Life thing I’ve really taken stock, and it’s certainly been an eventful month. Now that I’ve left the job (see April’s issue), I’m taking a good look at ex‐ actly what else in my life isn’t doing me any good. There are a few things that need dealing with, some of them scary, but I am the sort of person who laughs in the face of scary, calls it silly names and insults it’s Mother. I know that when something feels like a big scary challenge, that is the way I need to go, come what may. This is where being an Indigo spirit is useful, it’s the part of us
and an attempt to lift my spirits. They were also the result of a part of me not being fully present in that situation; it was off elsewhere as it could not cope with the way I existed. This part knew I was not acting in my highest interests. So, eating things that taste nice but are unhealthy for you serves as a temporary emotional plug, but a longer‐term spiritual block. Time therefore to get myself back into a good flow of healthy living! Our Higher Self Why does it matter so much anyway? How is the odd choco‐ late bar, bag of crisps, portion of chips etc. going to impact
Our body is a physical vehicle that houses part of our spiritual essence; our energetic ‘self’ that rises to the challenge and gets feisty when faced with adversity. However, more on the bigger stuff in future issues. For now, I’m starting with the basics and really asking myself what in my life is not serving my highest good and blocking me on the path to ultimate truth. Step forward... eating habits! Now, I usually pride myself on being a healthy eater ‐ I’ve previously been through nutritional therapy and made some permanent changes to the way I eat. It was ultimately a pleasure and relief to learn such a simple way of tackling a physical ailment. Ultimately, I also discovered that I was energetically healthier. Lately however, having been in a situation that was not serving my greater good (within the four walls of an office), some less‐than‐desirable habits crept back in; a chocolate bar here, bag of crisps there ‐ not things I would normally choose to eat were I of fully‐conscious mind. These habits were the result of an emotional slump, page thirty nine
on our spiritual development? The reason is that our body is a physical vehicle that houses part of our spiritual essence; our energetic ‘self’. And it is a mere fragment of our energetic selves ‐ our energetic body is vast, and our chakras reach into the Cosmos. We are spiritual beings having a human ex‐ perience (with thanks to Bob Frissell), and the part of us that remembers this is our Higher Self. For anyone that is unclear about what the Higher Self is, here is a nifty little definition: “The Higher Self is that part of you that connects you directly to the spiritual realms. It is eternal, infinitely wise and tran‐ scends your everyday consciousness. It is in touch with the Divine because it is part of it.” Asoka Selvarajah (link to full definition given at the end) It’s the part of us that guides us to the lessons we need to learn in this incarnation, it exists above and beyond our earthly personalities, as a chakra that spins a few feet above our heads. ers, Indigo’s, Crystals etc, we must maintain a clear link with our Higher Self as a source of guidance and infinite wisdom. It’s sort of like an all‐knowing big brother/sister that lets you get on with things but will gently lead you back to your path should you stray from it. And all done with unconditional love and zero judgement. Honouring your Higher Self
pecially bad news for ladies. Are you Ms Moodswing at ‘that’ time of the month? Sugar will be exacerbating the issue. Refined white sugar is considered by some to be a drug ‐ it has no nutritional content whatsoever (the refining process removes anything that might be of benefit). It’s purely car‐ bohydrate calories. The damage it can inflict on the body
The way we maintain our bodies (the physical vehicle for our spiritual essence) has a direct impact on our connection to our Higher Selves. The food we eat is fuel for our body. It’s such an obvious and simple thing when you think about it, but how many of us out there are really fuelling ourselves the ‘right’ way? How many of us are labouring under the assumption that we’re healthy eaters, when in reality we could do a lot more? Are you eating in a way that honours your highest good? Trust me, when we do we are so much clearer in our thinking, our physical vehicle functions more effectively, and our connection to our Higher Self is stronger. We honour ourselves by eating well. This is a wide topic with lots of room for discussion. Here, for now, is my top food peeve: Sugar. Not naturally occurring sugar ‐ nothing wrong with eating fruit ‐ but refined sugar. It’s in almost everything and it infuriates me because there’s no need. Why do you need to add sugar to a tin of sweetcorn or peas? “It’s a preservative”, they’ll say. Horse manure says I. Especially when you have the same product right next to it with no sugar in. So‐called ‘healthy’ foods will often have sugar in them, so do what I do and be a label geek! I always read labels and look at the ingredients; it’s a real eye‐opener. The effects of sugar
I always read labels and look at the ingredients; it’s a real eye opener
when consumed in large amounts is shocking, and the way it can cause people to behave, equally so. Yet it’s widely avail‐ able. Sugar drags you down in so many ways and it forces your awareness into the physical as your body copes with digesting it, compromising the connection you have with your Higher Self, the real you. Your energy body ‐ your light ‐ is dimmed. In short, sugar is bad news. Now, I’m partial to the odd piece of cake or some organic dark choccie, just enjoy an occa‐ sional treat if you’re into any sort of spiritual development or activity and avoid the stuff the rest of the time. Trust me, it’s a block, it dumbs us down spiritually and mentally and you’ll notice a huge difference if you give it up for a couple of weeks. People are choosing to put something into their bodies with zero nutritional value. Crazy. Wake up people, Just Say No! Just don’t replace it with artificial sweeteners ‐ that’s another subject entirely. Do some ‘net research on ‘aspartame’ and the reasons for that will become clear. To return to my ‘vehicle’ analogy ‐ would you put diesel in a petrol engine? No! Why then are we putting diesel (sugar) into our petrol‐engine’d bodies? Madness when you think about it like that. Once Upon a Time....

I often tell myself, ”don’t be afraid to walk into a dark space and flip on the light switch.” Three years ago, prompted by my love for God, natural energy practices and freedom, I embarked on a mission to research and study The Universal En‐ ergy Force. My quest for knowledge and the exploration of these energy practices has opened my awareness, teaching me so much about my natural surroundings and myself; thus inspir‐ ing my work with cymatics and natural phenomena. Throughout my journey, I have come back to the realization that true knowl‐ edge can only be uncovered from with‐ in myself; balanced by mind, body and spirit, driven by my heart’s conscious expression for love towards all things. Love Love, this is where the healing origi‐ nates. Without the expanding high impedance frequency of Love, a living microbial system will never be able to successfully organize itself into a puri‐ fied state. balancing of mind, body and spirit; through connecting with the natural el‐ ements and meditating upon the Heart Sutra as the source. Once we achieve balance, we can be of use to this planet as guides and healers, using our hearts and gifts to create harmonic organi‐ zation within our dimensional space. Practicing harmony. This is why cymat‐ ics has become an intriguing model for me to study. Harmony My observations of harmonic reso‐ nant sound frequencies being pulsed through water can be described as spiraling vortex motions forming into organized geometric patterns. As the sound frequency is attuned, it then shifts into more complex geometric patterns, all the while passing through periods of total chaos and disorganiza‐ tion. This empirical phenomenon was so profound and fell in line with how I have always observed the laws of ener‐ gy throughout nature. What ultimately intrigues me about my observations is how sound through water becomes a parallel to my study of natural energy practices, and how etheric energy flows through the living system in the same fashion as sound through water. may 2010
Inspiration
Healing
Awakening
As I gain understanding and a refreshed perspective, I am becoming more aware of my responsibility to make a difference, right where I am in my life. I use my work with film and editorial as an outlet to heal and communicate with the universe. I have begun to use these etheric energy models and understand‐ ing of the heart to inspire people, as well as myself. By accessing, shaping and moving energy to bring under‐ standing and healing to a living system, I can help lead the universal conscious towards the heart for purification.
Familiarize yourself with the natu‐ ral five elements: Earth, Metal (Air), Water, Wood, and Fire. These natural elements are abundant throughout our planet and together with love make ev‐ erything complete. Each element has a subtle but powerful energy that ema‐ nates from it. This etheric energy helps to supply everything on this planet with life force. We need not physically deplete the earth of these elements, as we have throughout time, but by learn‐ ing to connect to the subtle energy of these elements we can charge and heal our bodies.
This is a great way to begin to awaken your true purpose. Let your heart and its dreams become your guide from then on. When you feel depleted, pull from the nature to recharge. Once we learn to connect to the earth this way, we will no longer have a need to de‐ plete each other of energy, we can pull from our Mother Earth to heal each of ourselves and in turn heal our planet.
Challenge I would encourage people to make the effort to talk to that person standing next to them, no matter if they are a stranger, friend or family. Use your heart’s approach, the approach you would take with something or some‐ one you love and respect very much. This type of interaction helps to build the harmonic conscious shift. Start with whatever is right in front of you, balance and heal this first; your efforts will point you in the right direc‐ tion. may 2010
Ultimately, my true purpose is to move into and with the true frequencies of our natural cosmic universe, using heart as my compass and engine. Still I continue to research, practice and transpose Take a walk in nature during sunrise or with such passion. Jamie Oliver Inspire Jamie was born to a pub/restaurant‐owning father, and immediately loved the passionate, joyful and collaborative ethic of “everyone working together to make this lovely stuff and having a laugh doing it.” This passion led him to catering college then onto publishing recipe books and filming TV programmes where his energetic creativity, love and enthusiasm for food could be felt emanating from his every pore. Such is his commitment to these principles that he has created the Ministry of Food “to inspire you to get in the kitchen and cook meals for yourself and your family from scratch, whether you’re a complete beginner or a good cook who likes simplic‐ ity. With some basic skills under your belt and a handful of recipes, you’ll be able to prepare nutritious meals on any budget, and there’s nothing like sitting around a table to bring people together.” Challenge Jamie is happy to challenge established restaurant conventions, so in 2002 he opened the first Fifteen Restaurant in London. This has grown into a global brand, and Jamie explains his intention is simple, “Fifteen is more than a restaurant. It is a social enterprise, offering a product with a purpose. The product is a high end din‐ ing experience in a restaurant where the best of produce is prepared by great chefs and apprentices and served by knowledgeable, professional and relaxed people. The purpose is the empowerment of young people who need a second chance to establish their place in the world. It is our belief that they can create for themselves great careers in the restaurant industry.” Educate Feeling a burning desire to help make the world a better place, Jamie yearned “to make bigger, more positive change happen; change that would affect not merely a handful of young people but millions...” The result was his ‘School Dinners’ campaign, where he crusaded to ban the junk in UK schools and get children eating fresh, tasty nutritious food instead. His manifesto was taken to the highest levels of national government, forcing new and improved food standards to be introduced. This year Jamie has extended his campaign to the US, and hits the road with the mission statement, “I believe that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutri‐ tious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food. Too many people are being affected by what they eat. It’s time for a national revolu‐ tion. America needs to stand up for better food!” www.jamieoliver.com page fifty one
