“Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads” H.G Wells. Without a crystal ball or, at the very least, strong predictive capabilities, knowing “what’s next” with any degree of accuracy can be daunting if not impossible. So while we read this we can all look back on our successes, failures, struggles and triumphs with a sense of accomplishment. Zachary D.G who wrote last years foreword has been a leader, friend and idiot savant in Singapore for the last six years and would be the first to testify to the astonishing growth Singapore has seen. However growth is nothing if accomplished alone. Having been here myself for just under a year and Tasha a brief but fulfilling five months, it has been apparent how supportive the F&B community is in more ways than one. Whether you are opening a pub, restaurant, dive bar or top end cocktail bar with all the gadgets and whizzbangs 10/10 people will answer your call if you need them. Giving both their time and expertise or picking you up off the floor both metaphorically and literally. We all care deeply about the long term prosperity of the industry, and not just because it provides us with jobs. We care because we have a hand in creating something vibrant and exciting that we can share with others, not least the punters who drink what we create.

Singapore has seen expansion in all areas; and with pace; Something that the whole panel for SGCW wanted to showcase this year. Championing double the amount of participants with a diverse selection of opportunities to showcase Singapore’s expanding F&B scene. This year’s SGCW will also be featuring local talents from behind the bar, the kitchens and also from behind the desk. For an opportunity to further understand what really makes us unique as an industry. It’s great to see how far our connections stretch across the globe, sharing the same passion for this industry. Friends and peers coming from all corners of the globe to lend knowledge and experience whilst absorbing our culture and supporting what we do. You know we are doing something right when everyone wants to join the party. Jay is looking forward to - Top events to look out for are the inaugural Sugarhall Nightcap on Saturday, a melting pot of local, international and intergalactic characters getting together to celebrate the end of a hard week behind the stick and reflect on the success. Tasha’s looking forward to – Hendricks Murder Mystery night for those that enjoy a little curious thrill while sipping on their cocktails, it will be a night of murder and mayhem! I am also looking forward to the Bar Awards, as this is my first cocktail week in Singapore I’m super excited to see Singapore’s talented bartenders take the stage. This year’s Cocktail Week is a jam packed 9 days full of exciting, educational and fun activities, there’s so much on offer this year I feel really lucky to be a part of it! The likes of Proof & Co. Absolut Elyx, Diageo World Class and many others will be supporting to make this week even more special. Community is what makes us such a growing force and having so many more hands on deck this year, SGCW will be something very exciting. We’d like to say special thanks to all the bars, restaurants and partners participating in this year’s Cocktail week. Without everyone’s efforts this festival could not happen. Tasha Lu, Hendrick’s Gin Brand Ambassador for SE Asia and purveyor of all things unusual introduces a garden-to-glass workshop in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Oxwell&Co rooftop. In preparation for this unique concept, the Oxwell&Co team have brought their rooftop herb garden to life, showcasing an array of fresh produce including mint, lemongrass, Italian and Thai basil, rosemary and tarragon in this little slice of urban paradise. Guests will be taken into the Hendrick’s
world where the workshop is focused on pairing unusual flavours, the garden-to-glass movement and a brief history of cocktail culture, before being encouraged under the watchful eye of Ms Lu, to create their own signature cocktail unique to their palate. There will be a variety of fresh produce and unique syrups that can be stirred, shaken or built to create cocktails that showcase the unique and delicate flavour profile of cucumber and rose in Hendrick’s Gin. Guests will walk away from the workshop a little happier, and a little healthier – fresh and organic produce is good for your
health while Hendrick’s is good for your soul. Your newly honed skills can be used to create delicious libations at pool parties, beach house gatherings, or any excuse you can find to showcase your knowledge on all things cocktail and of course Hendrick’s Gin! ‘From Garden to Glass’ is suited to guests of all ages (of course over the legal drinking age *wink*), from all walks of life – workshop participants will receive a hands-on experience that is both entertaining and educational.
