LadyLouisCapone Carmona Entry 3 Well hello Fashion Buffs hope everyone has had a model week. Well this week of modeling has been quiet for me except on Thursday and what happened then you ask well I had a photo shoot with my bestie..But first we had to go shopping with the lovely Labella. Now let me tell you this was an adventure to say the least lol actually it was lots of fun and we laughed we shopped for hair and this sexy lil hot number you see me in , When you go shopping one or two stores is ever enough because I always see at least three outfits that I just have to have...Now for me choosing a color is the problem because every outfit looks good in a certain color...Thank goodness I had LaBella with me with her wicked style...We went to store after store looking at outfits and hair and of course jewelry, because what is an outfit with out the perfect set of earrings or bracelet..As a model you must have all of these thing because you never know when that one piece will make the perfect outfit so play around with jewelry and then when it comes to hair try several styles and colors just because it might look a little wild does not mean it is not the right look,,I am learning that being a model mean letting go of the “safe zone” in style and just go with the flow. I realized that I can not be afraid to go with a look just because

I am looking forward to learning the next step in modeling and all the sexy, wild, wacky and wicked looks that will come up. I am pledging a Sorority and one of the tasks we were told to do was to make over a noob..Let me tell you that was a chore all on its on..I had to of course find one that was willing and then when I did it took hours to find the right skin, shape and of course hair and clothes not to mention the shoes! But it was also fun I found my new friend and she was willing to go through anything to not look so new.. And last but not least I attended a runway show that my bestie Fancy was modeling in...oooh it was for skins...My bestie was hot she strutted that runway..lol woot woot Fancy...Next week for me its all casting calls so wish me luck..until then ...Strike a Pose!!
Fancy Bekkers Entry 3 Hello Second Life! Well I went to my first casting this week. I had like 5 minutes to get ready after I saw the notice. Thank goodness it was for skins and all I had to wear was a swimsuit. I was nervous! After all this was the first time and I really didn’t know what to expect. It went smooth but I had to wait until the next day to see if I had made it. It was a long night so what is a girl to do when she needs to calm down and relax? You know it! She gets a little retail therapy and goes shopping. You have to get out there and explore those shops. I like to buy several outfits and wear parts from each one to make my own look. Sometimes it is easy and others I get disappointed. Ok back to the casting..... I made it! I was so excited. It was for MonS beauty. I wore the Uni skin /lashesviolet lips, lingerie from Phoenix Rising, and hair from LoQ. I added in the shoes from Maitreya and jewelry from Finesmith. We had a few rehearsals and a dress rehearsal the day before the show. MA Modeling Agency put on the show. It was FABULOUS! Lag wasn’t much of an issue for me thank goodness. My biggest fear is getting caught in lag and ending up in an audience members lap or walking off into Never Never land. Runway shows are so exciting. It is such a rush and an awesome feeling afterwards when you all work so hard together and pull it off! I adore all of my fellow models. Also this week I went on a field trip with the beautiful Labella Farella. We went hair shopping, she always hates my hair! We ended up at Mimi’s Choice and I found hair she approved of by W&Y. You can see it in this weeks photo. While there I also found a sweater dress from Gabriel in purple. LOVE IT! If you get a chance stop in at Mimi’s choice. I always find something there I can’t live without. Well its Sunday evening in Second Life and I’m sitting at a table outside enjoying the fall scenery waiting for the Mohna Lisa Couture “Falling Leaves” show to begin. I love her designs. She is so elegant and sexy. I’m sure after this show I will hurry right on over to the store and buy something. Just as I thought everything is gorgeous so far. I hope

I was invited to come furniture shopping with my good friend Viola Rookswood. We had been brainstorming ideas for a new style salon and wanted to find some good pieces to give the look of a fashion design work space. So I land in a place called Dutchie. I am instantly taken by the charm of this country side sim with a barn and large farm house, small boat houses at the water’s edge and quaint sparse prim grass scattered about the plains.
Dutchie has a section with their furniture items including a fantastic home and office accessory section that features magazines for coffee tables, coffee makers, baskets, trunks, leaning frames and much much more. All of these great additions to give a space a very lived in feel at very affordable prices. All of the accessories are well made and detailed down to the stretching of the canvas over a wood frame or the tint of the coffee stain in the pot. I was in shopping overload grabbing everything I thought would work in our space including the trunk with fabric samples inside at around 200L.
Dutchie is mainly great for country style or traditional home living but they also have a few great contemporary furniture items that fit in well with the surrounding dĂŠcor. As I walked around the sim, I found a living area and office space that had a contemporary feel . The living room was cool with soft grays, steel hardware and sleek black features. The geometric rugs in both the office and living room were lovely and the fireplace was the perfect mix of traditional lines and modern details. This home
was large enough to feel like you could raise a family here but intimate enough to be just right for the perfect couple or a single person who enjoys a large space. For the avatar with less money to spend on land there are fantastic house boats that are the land alternative to a skybox. These houseboats contain all you need for a simple live on the water or docked at a friends land. Living room and bedroom with a bathroom behind a screen and a small deck just outside the living room. The textures and colors are outstanding. I almost want one for my home! about how you can find your soul mate using these points of comparison to match you with potentials. How it ONLY costs this much, and if you sign up for a year now you can get a month free! If this system is so good, why would you need to sign up for a year? I mean, when you know you know and do they guarantee anything or have a refund policy? Who knows! What I do know is that no matter where you are or what you try, it only takes a moment for you to realize that what you feel is love. The online dating industry is worth approximately $4 Billion nowadays, and 17% of couples who
got married recently met on an online dating site. 1 in 5 people have gone on a date with someone they connected to online, as well as become involved in a committed relationship with an online love. What all that really means, math aside...is that people are connecting on a new level and for some it is working! The internet is quickly becoming an avenue that many of us pursue in order to find that ‘special someone’ without using the antiquated rituals of clubbing, bar hopping and the dreaded blind date. How many of us out there have become involved with someone that you’ve met virtually? Some are really only looking for that missing piece of their RL relationship that would make it that ideal kind of perfection. Who took it to the next level and decided to meet in real life? Here on Second Life, we see those that jump in and out of relationships faster than it takes to hop on a pose ball. Can you imagine if scores of people did that for real? I mean, the number of marriage and divorce would skyrocket! It’s not very practical, and we all know it. Then there are others, to whom it becomes a real life commitment that ceases to separate SL from RL. There are those that of
course, are firmly against it and I happily admit that I am one of those people. I’ve never been more elated to be proven wrong. Picture it...you’re in love and carrying on a 4 year relationship. You think “Wow! This is the person I’m going to marry! To have a family with and just grow old with”. In the back of your mind you think to yourself if this is what the universe really had planned for you, and of course you convince yourself it must be. If it isn’t, why did you spend the last few years of your life giving your all to a relationship that wouldn’t go all the way? Quite frankly, sometimes it just happens. There is no statistical rationale, no little baby cupid telling you “HE’S NOT THE ONE!”, and no way you could ever really know unless you finally find that perfect one. That was me 2 1/2 years ago, in a commitment headed nowhere and with a man that even though I loved him I knew in my heart I wouldn’t last with. I found my way back to SL as a means to occupy myself, I had quite a bit of alone time for a girl in a committed relationship. Found some friends, discovered a few hidden talents and one day...love found me. I rejected it time and again but this particular kind of love is pretty persistent. Some people know right away that they feel something for someone, and I am not nor have I ever been one of those people. Giovanni knew. He told me maybe a month after we met that he KNEW he loved me and one day we would be together. Can you imagine how crazy I thought he was? We had only spoke on SL and Yahoo! Messenger. Admittedly, when I first spoke to him via voice chat I did get a little tingle in my toes but of course we all know that isn’t love. We spent our weekends totally devoted to one another, gallivanting around SL experiencing everything we could find. The first and only time I’ve ever been skiing is in Second Life, which I find kind of funny. Horseback riding, dancing, you name it
we did it and right by each others sides. There came a time when we ended up falling asleep on camera, mics still on as if we were somehow trying to wake up together. Noooo you’re crazy, you are not in love with this man you have never met and can’t stop thinking about! Somewhere along the way...yeah, I was in love and I was guilt ridden and confused. Quite frankly, I made the quickest decision I’ve made in my whole life and decided to break things off with my boyfriend. When that was done, Gio and I partnered on SL and made plans to meet in person. Mind you, all of this happened in about a 3 month time span and I was well...nervous doesn’t seem to be strong enough a word to describe what I was! Nerves securely intact, I stepped off a plane from JFK to John Wayne Airport on October 8, 2008 and I never looked back. From the east coast, all the way to the west coast to be with my one true love and everything I ever went through to get to that moment was worth it. Today, we’re back on the east coast but we’re together and ‘we’ have grown! I have a beautiful baby boy, I have a fiance...I have a family. Whether or not you feel finding love online is a possibility, I feel it necessary to voice my opinion on one small fact. Whoever you are, be yourself. I’ve found that something that could be wonderful is more often then not ripped to shreds because some find it more exciting to weave a fairytale life that someone may one day find isn’t true. At the end of the day, the real you comes to the light and you could be left picking up the pieces of your heart with an industrial vacuum cleaner. Why put together a story when who you really are could be simply perfect for who you are meant to be with? Sometimes the very thing you think someone will never love you for is the one thing they can’t live without.

Cover Interview: PurpleMoon Creations CEO Poulet Koenkamp by Dancer Dallagio Hi Poulet, thank you so much for taking time for this interview. The designs of your store, Purple Moon, really do cover many areas, from glamour to avant garde, from casual to couture. The delightful mix of designs really is wonderful. Will you please talk about this for those who don’t know why you have such diversity of designs, such as creating a more tame design along with one that is not so tame? First of all , thank you for your sweet and precise description of what I offer at PurpleMoon. Why such a diversity? I would have to say “why not?”
There is actually a reason. From the beginning of PurpleMoon my main motto has been to provide a different shopping experience. Not only a place where you could find a big variety of styles, it’s also a place where you can create your own. From the floor to the roof, I built a place where people can feel comfortable, listen to some relaxing tunes, enjoy a never ending sunset (the sim has been set that way on purpose), shop without fainting about the prices, and if they are in the mood of a romantic night, they will find something that suits the occasion, if they are getting ready for a day at the beach they will find that too. Or even if they are in a rush to jump on a runway, I am pretty sure they’ll get some cool stuff to save the day =D.
I do not like stereotypes. I don’t like to be limited by one category. I like diversity and variety, I enjoy it and share it. I love to try different things again and again, somehow challenging my own limits. What brought you to making the decision to design in SecondLife, and what forces were the most influential in encouraging you to continue with designing? I was born in Second Life as a builder. After a couple of days of opening my account I rezzed my first prim, sat on it and thought: “I made a chair!” It still makes me smile when I remember that, it was the day when I realized the wonders of SL. What I read on one newspaper it was true, you could “create” and that’s the magic word that caught my attention. The endless possibilities of creation… That’s how I opened my first shop selling furniture, then houses and trees and anything I could make with prims. I got involved in artist projects such as “Not Possible in Real Life” and “Burning Life”. Those events fed my soul in a way I couldn’t explain. All this to say that one day I got invited to be part of Next Fashion Designer Challenge and I thought to myself, “why not?” I’ve done so many things and I haven’t tried this yet. Like I said before, challenges, I love
them. So I signed in and I happened to get to the finals, considering that most of the other participants were already involved in the fashion industry, I was really surprised! I have to say that the ones on my side make it possible. I am blessed to have found a wonderful woman in SL, SilverMoon Indigo, who I call my sister and my muse of arts. We have some art dates every now and then to keep learning and feeding our hearts with the wonders that SL has to offer. And of course, who now is my husband was there “virtually” holding my hand. I met Martin414 Timeless in SL in 2007, we got married in 2008, he is from Canada, and I am from Argentina. In August 2009 I moved to Canada and now we are “really” and happily married. He means the world to me, without him I couldn’t be doing what I do. He stands by me, helps me in all the ways he can, especially scripting because he simply rocks on that (honey, if you are reading, see? I said it! Now everybody knows that you rock!) Sorry for that lol. So, my forces have names, Silver and Martin. I know you find inspiration in things around you, such as the changing seasons and colours. What other inspirations touch you, and which RL designers catch your eye?
I never know where inspiration will come from, even if it will come. Part of the process has a lot of waiting and patience involved. Just because I never know. The place where I live is certainly inspiring, such a variety of colors, shapes and textures. Maybe because I come from a big town, Buenos Aires, where I lived all my life surrounded by concrete, noise and millions of people, now I get amazed by the simplest things. As an example, maybe I see a bird posing close to my window, and I see the feathers, and then the pattern on those feathers, and the shape and softness of them, and I start wondering of how they would feel on my skin and it keeps on going until it becomes a draft on my sketchbook. Hopefully after that, it materializes in SL, after a decent amount of hours on Photoshop. RL designers that get my attention and I deeply admire are Armani because of the elegance and simplicity of the designs and Michael Kors, just because he dares to do something different and unique. I wanted to let the readers get a glimpse into how you go through the process of completing a design from concept to finished product. Would you enlighten us with this please? The process varies depending on the source of inspiration. Sometimes I start doodling on my sketchbook, other times I go straight ahead on Photoshop. Being a graphic designer in rl allow
me to know many tricks and tips on how to develop a concept from scratch using conventional tools, as my pencil, and other times, using Illustrator or Photoshop techniques. Most of the times I have a complete image in my head and I have to pull out all my resources to make it happen. Once I have worked on the templates, painting and drawing textures and seams, then comes the upload of those textures. Though, many times I start with the prim work before starting with the textures, it depends. It involves a lot of testing, rearranging, sometimes even change of plans, and taking a different direction. Many times the concept I have at the beginning turns into something completely different. In any kind of creating process there are many unexpected things that could happen which sometimes make the original concept get stronger and more defined or maybe they turn into a whole new one. Your designs have managed to progress and grow from the beginning, through being a finalist in the SL Next Fashion Designer Challenge to present day. How do you continually come up with such creative designs? I am also a teacher in RL, and maybe because of that I truly believe in the never ending learning process. There is always something new, something you don’t know yet. I keep my eyes open, I try to learn from everything that happens in my day, I listen to people, I get advice
from my friends and loved ones. I keep exploring myself, my thoughts, my feelings… there are so many things everywhere to grab and keep in your mind and heart. Also, there is a technique involved in designing, so I keep trying to polish my skills as much as I can. I am a good student! You are absolutley a fantastic student! I’m sure your classes that you teach are incredible as well. From feathers to lace, fur to silk, your textures run the complete spectrum. Your designs keep improving, as does your skill with executing them; other than practice, to what would you attribute your continuing advances in designs and products? Other than practice which of course it’s necessary, I have to say that I don’t easily get scared or intimidated by new challenges. That would be some sort of advice for anybody interested in designing, don’t be afraid. Get rid of the fears and try. Worse scenario you would come up with a leather texture that might look like latex, so what? You may have the most realistic latex suit in your hands ever created! Believe me, it’s worth it. Go for it. You seem to always be on the forward edge of fashions, encompassing many design elements into your creations. How do you manage to have the knowledge of what is
going to be so current, and how do you keep pushing the envelope of what is possible? I have to confess. I have no idea of what the current trends are. Oops! I guess I should pay more attention on that but I am not actually interested in following any trend. I do what I do just because I like it, and if it becomes a trend yay! It was absolutely amazing when I released the first collection of runway hairstyles. I happened to attend too many fashion shows on the same weekend, and I mean, many. Like I said before, I listen. One of the most repeated comments that I’ve heard that day from the models on those shows was about how much the hair adds to the avatar rendering cost. “I cannot even walk with this hair!” I thought, ok, this is not right; I can do something about it. And the first collection came out. My instincts told me that this idea was going to be welcomed by many but I was not expecting to see other clothing stores starting to develop their lines of hairstyles and accessories too. I felt honored and, between you and me, “watched” lol. This thing of being watched is really amazing, I guess when you create a hit, something that really gets peoples’ attention you become more exposed. And that’s when you say goodbye to your privacy and your quiet moments in sl, hehe. But that’s another story =) There is privacy in SL? Hahaha. What is the
ultimate design for you, and do you think of this as you go from one creation to the next, or do you just go with how your mind comes up with things? I just try to keep learning and doing things better and better every day. Which design/creation of yours is your favourite and please tell us why? Oh! That’s not easy. Each creation has a little bit of me in it, so it’s really hard to choose. But I would say “Grizzelda” has a very special place in my heart. It was the first gown I’ve ever made and after a couple of days of uploading it on Xstreet, it climbed to #2 in the ranking. It was absolutely shocking. It has been my bestseller ever since and I couldn’t tell how many girls own that gown already. And the feedback I keep getting about that gown is amazing. I am planning to “reload” some of the oldest designs improving them with the knowledge and skills I have now that I didn’t have on those days. You have such a wide range, from clothing to hair, nails to lashes. What is next for Purple Moon? Hmmm… there is a big project growing in my head. I am not going to say much about it because I’m still putting my thoughts together. I can say it will involve more than fashion. I have this need of getting more in touch with my artistic side in a deeply and more immersive way. For now, I have all the arts in a bottle and I am rubbing it, waiting for the genie to come out. And I do need to add something else. A big thank you to Chloe Panthar, my manager, who makes my SL way easier and another thank you to all the staff of models who work hard every day at the store providing the best customer service possible. Thank you to all the customers who trust on me and follow me in this journey and thank you to SL who gave me the best friend anybody could possibly have, SilverMoon, and last but over everything else, to the love of my life, my partner in this journey called life, Martin. Interview with Divinity Jewels Designer Noah Bodenhall by Tracy Rubble
Divinity is a treasure trove of possibly the most realistic jewelry you will find in SL. Designer Noah Bodenhall is determined to bring his real world experience in world, to bring natural looking high quality accessories. Of course I couldn’t resist asking him a few questions. Q. You have a lot of very original designs. Where do you find the inspiration behind them? A. I find inspiration in many things, sometimes it’s just playing around with prims and discovering a shape that just works (This is how the Persephone bracelet came to be). But most times I have a theme in my head or a feeling I just need to express. I never thought SL would be a tool for me to discover myself and to be witness to so much raw emotion good and bad. Q, I noticed you make mainly female jewelry. What drew you into that, rather than male?
A. I was drawn to women’s jewelry because I spent 6 years working in high end jewelry stores in Real life. If you eliminate watches, men’s jewelry is a very small portion of what a jewelry store sells, and it was my experience that men’s jewelry is more marginal. It is in the plans for us to have more men’s items, and are planning on releasing many of them before Xmas. Q. How long have you been creating? How did you get started? A. My first experience with building came about in June of 2009, and it quickly became a passion. It was a natural fit for me to simply create jewelry instead of motorcycles or skyboxes. I knew jewelry inside out, and always had a passion for it. Q. Have you hit any issues along the way? A. Issues are a fixture of building, it hardly ever goes without any issues, but it’s part of the creation process and making sure the product is absolutely perfect and ready to find a takers. From scripts to sizing issues, texturing, vendors, etc. It’s these issues that I experienced that made me a better builder. Q. What keeps you designing? A. Actually I have a hard time stopping. I have so many ideas and projects I need to keep a sketch book and try to keep a to-do list of what should be a priority. The creation process for me never ends, if I’m not creating new items, I love to revisit old ones, add in a little more flavor and experience. Q. What have been the best and worst points? A.The greatest point is to get a compliment from a happy customer. Getting an IM telling me that they love what they bought from me… It makes any low
point all worth it. As for the worst points, I think it has to be the “technicalities”, setting up the vendors, packaging the items, etc. It’s routine and boring in comparison to creating something new. But it has to be done and becomes part of the whole process. Q. What advice would you give to new jewelry designers? How would you say they could learn and advance? A. I think the best thing a jeweler can do is to find his style. You know you made it when someone can identify the creator of the item by simply looking at the item’s design. I’d also tell them that if they value their work and want others to do the same, don’t give it away for 5L. Q. Where will Divinity go next? What’s on the horizon? A. We have a plan to grow the inventory in exponential numbers. Plans are to grow our bridal section, create a men’s line and fill the store to capacity. We will also organize more events like the one we had last week-end for our Grand Re-Opening with live acts and DJs and present new pieces. Most likely for Xmas. Evolution of Weddings Interview with Kimmera Madison CEO & Designer of Tres Beau By Dancer Dallagio
Kimmera Madison, the one-woman genius behind the Tres Beau name. Congratulations Kimmera on your recent nuptials with Nave Fall. Now that you are amongst the many brides of Second Life, I thought we would talk to Kimmera today about the evolution of weddings and wedding gowns in Second Life.
What are your recollections of the first wedding in Second Life that you are aware of?The first wedding that I went to was for a girlfriend of mine who asked me to do a dress, she had never seen wedding dresses in Second Life and would I make her a wedding dress. She gave me some pictures of what she liked, and since I was new to the whole clothing creation, I photo sourced the best I could. Would you please describe this wedding to me? They got married on a sim over the water, and it was probably a 40x40 platform with one dimensional flat pictures of flowers. Her bouquet was a one dimensional photo of a bouquet, totally flat. They had a box for the alter and the texture on the floor was red. It was considered grand scale for that time. She had system hair, system skin,

and the dress was all system layers, no prims. That sound like quite a wedding. How quickly did you see changes in the wedding industry and what were they? There was a bit of chatter about this
wedding, then all of a sudden there was an explosion in the field of weddings, with everything very boxy and simple, and similar in style to that first one that I attended. At what point, did weddings evolve? With the introduction of prims, we had static bustles and trains and skirts and the dresses kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and they all stayed where they moved, thus a bride could wipe out the entire congregation with a simple turn. One had over 200 prims that would cover 40 meters behind the bride, and probably that wide, and none of the churches could fit it. Another one we fondly called “the wedding crasher� designed by a friend of mine. It had all of the attachment points with layers and layers of static prim ruffles. It was beautiful, but the
minute she put it on, it crashed the sim, and there were only a handful of us there. To this day, she get embarrassed if you mention it LOL. Next came flexi prims, which introduced an entirely new realm for wedding gowns especially. Gowns began to glow, veils no longer jutted out of the head. With that came a whole new threat to the congregation: being whipped to death by flying prims! LOL. None of us truly understood flex, when this first came out, especially with clothing applications. We thought that the more flex, the better, but there was no subtly learned yet, so when you moved, the prims tended to fly everywhere. So while standing still, they looked lovely,

but the minute you moved, duck! With time, flexi was tamed, and the gowns became more controlled (much to the relief of the battered and bruised congregations).
What changes were brought about from texture improvements? The next revolution was textures. Alpha layered laces became more prevalent, details appeared such as shading, wrinkles, and buttons. What effect did the advent of Second Life sculpts have on dresses? The interesting thing about sculpts is that they give us the sense of shape, detail and flow. However, in a sense, we have come full circle as they do not flex. So again we find congregations looking for ways to take cover; however the combination of flexis and sculpts can be beautiful. The designs that I see today are so far removed from those of the early days that it puts me in awe. How do you see mesh affecting wedding gowns? I am still trying to learn as much as I can about mesh; I don’t know how it’s going to affect wedding gowns or clothing in general in Second Life. What I hope to see is the illusion of real fabric. Meshes will allow us to make the gown, skirts, bustles, trains be as one, and hopefully move as one and create that illusion of flow, drape, and opulence that a wedding gown traditionally has. It’s exciting and one I very much look forward to and am excited to explore deeper about. As far as the future of Second Life wedding industry, I have watched it go from those first weddings to amazingly detailed and beautifully detailed wedding venues throughout Second Life. The planning for a wedding no longer takes a day or two, but can take months, much like a real
wedding. The details and the sense of reality that can be brought to those weddings is mind boggling. I definitely see them continuing, and the sky’s the limit, but I wait for the day when we can actually drink the champagne!
