Innovative Thinking –Revolutionary Technologies

Plans are well under way for the UK’s most comprehensive showcase of offsite technology. This is an industry first – never before has the offsite construction sector come together to deliver such a comprehensive multifaceted event.

OFFSITE CONSTRUCTION WEEK (OCW) offers unrivalled access to leading industry pioneers, demonstrators, dynamic factory tours, thought provoking roundtable discussions, CPD accredited masterclasses, award celebrations and an international summit.

OCW Advisory Group

Expertly curated by the OCW Advisory Group, the free to access programme provides a comprehensive and balanced perspective on this rapidly emerging sector from a host of renowned architects, engineers and offsite manufacturing pioneers. Offsite Construction Week presents an opportunity to get ‘behind the headlines’ and experience first-hand the speed, safety and sustainability benefits of modern methods of construction.

Collaborative Culture

Offsite Construction Week will serve as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration amongst policymakers, clients, contractors and offsite manufacturers, by bringing these key stakeholders together to address shared challenges and present opportunities in the construction industry. Through a series of panel discussions, seminars, site tours and innovation competitions, participants will share knowledge and best practices, exchange project experiences, and develop cohesive strategies that align with evolving regulatory frameworks and market demands. This concentrated interaction will not only enhance mutual understanding and trust, but also drive efficiency across the vertical markets, ultimately leading to more collaborative and sustainable construction practices.

Accelerating the Pace of Change

The industry’s vertical markets are under pressure to deliver some ambitious projects in the next decade, which requires the creation of production capacity today. Digital technology, including Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) can reduce build time by 50%; however, there is a marked disconnect between clients, specifiers, contractors, and the supply chain. A wider deployment of offsite construction methods requires a shared understanding and a common strategy for navigating the risks and challenges involved in utilising offsite technologies. Offsite Construction Week will give the floor to industry experts to present and discuss strategic investments intended to streamline planning, funding, standardisation, and quality assurance.

A Cultural Shift in the Implementation of Offsite Technologies

In addition to showcasing the latest technological advancements shaping the future of the built environment, Offsite Construction Week 2024 will bring together expert voices from the key vertical markets, embracing a collaborative culture to accelerate the adoption of offsite technologies and meet the UK government’s ambitious plans.

Sharing Strategies

The challenges of offsite construction projects provide critical lessons on the importance of thorough planning, integration, and adaptability. Stakeholders must align offsite and onsite phases, which requires comprehensive early-stage planning and resource allocation. Offsite Construction Week will enable constructive debates around the lessons learned from past projects, where industry experts from around the world will present evidence-based strategies for successful solutions. By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, these events will promote collective learning, forging partnerships and propelling the industry forward towards greater efficiency by embracing offsite construction techniques.

Breaking Barriers

By facilitating unbiased dialogues amongst industry innovators and showcasing their latest achievements, Offsite Construction Week will create a comprehensive platform for overcoming the obstacles to a wider adoption of offsite construction. Industry pioneers will propose practical solutions to key issues, such as the integration of offsite methods with traditional construction practices. Industry bodies will launch supportive regulatory frameworks, incentivising stakeholders at the early project stages.

Workforce Diversity

In addition to accelerating project delivery, deploying offsite construction technologies and methods open up the construction sector to a more diverse workforce. This approach provides a safer and more controlled working environment, particularly for women and people with disabilities. The need for skilled labour, capable of working with advanced technologies and prefabricated systems, underscores the importance of targeted training and education. Offsite Construction Week will give the floor to women in construction involved in projects that utilise modular technologies and prefabricated products. It will also shine a light on current initiatives that are upskilling the UK workforce.

Industrialised Construction

In line with macro-trends transforming the built environment and in response to the latest UK government agenda, offsite construction has embraced more sustainable, efficient and scalable construction practices. Representing these strategies is the wider adoption of platform design, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), and kit of parts manufacturing. This approach aims to streamline the construction process by integrating advanced planning and panelised components, from standardised
