Silver Exhibitor Profiles

LIGHT STEEL FRAME ASSOCIATION

Supporting the Objectives and Growth of the Sector

Created to support unprecedented demand and the advancement of the sector, the Light Steel Frame Association is driving the industry forwards in terms of profile raising and presence.

With a focus on growing market share and maximising the groundswell of interest in offsite technologies, the LSFA recognises that the time is right for the industry to come together and collaborate on many levels to promote the speed, safety and sustainability benefits of light steel framing technology. Since the launch in June 2019, the industry body now includes more than 60 of the most prominent names in the steel sector within its membership and setting the agenda on its Steering Group.

As the construction industry looks to raise the safety bar – the light steel frame sector is witnessing unprecedented demand for panelised and volumetric modular systems, together with ‘through the wall’ solutions which are delivered to site complete with wall linings and sheathing boards.

Membership Benefits

To encourage a collaborative approach LSFA operates under a unilateral membership structure with one standard fee for all to gain access to an extensive package of benefits.

MODULAR AND PORTABLE BUILDING ASSOCIATION (MPBA)

Meet the Modular Experts at Offsite Expo on Stand B1

At the forefront of offsite approaches, volumetric modular methods have a remarkable impact on reducing costs whilst increasing productivity, quality and safety in the construction arena. The demand for customisation has led the volumetric modular manufacturing industry to develop methods for adaptation during the mass production process to meet individual requirements. Having gained considerable momentum over the past few years, modular construction makes up 60-70% of the offsite manufacturing sector and reduces build times by an impressive 50-60%.

Networking and Knowledge Transfer

The MPBA plays a key role in the connecting of sectors in the modular and portable building industry. The Association collaborates with specialist technical advisors to enhance innovation in the design and manufacture of modular buildings. These can be designed and manufactured from timber, steel or concrete, in any size and shape to meet individual client needs while ensuring full compliance with building regulations.

MPBA

Joining an association with many other likeminded professionals will open up new collaboration opportunities and add significant value to your company. Members of the MPBA are split into two defined categories:

Full Members - supply for purchase or hire, new manufactured or quality pre-owned modular and portable buildings.

Associate Members - possess strong business contacts within the industry supplying materials, components or services applicable to full members. With the MPBA’s assistance, offsite construction companies remain ever competitive in the modular and portable building multi-billion-pound industry. The Association is represented on committees for BSI, LPCB-Expert Group D and works with BRE, LABC, CLG, NHS, CskillsCITB, LHC, CCS and the Carbon Trust to represent and champion the industry.

STRUCTURAL TIMBER ASSOCIATION (STA)

The STA represents competent suppliers of quality timber systems and is delighted to be one of the headline sponsors of Offsite Expo 2021. The importance of complete structural timber systems and hybrid solutions in the delivery of offsite construction cannot be underestimated, and what better way is there to get design and specification right than to choose an STA member?

As the largest UK trade association within the structural timber sector, there are a host of reasons why construction professionals and self-builders should choose one of our members. The STA’s mission is to enhance quality and drive product innovation through technical guidance and research, underpinned by a members’ quality standard assessment – the STA Assure Membership and Quality Standards Scheme.

Selecting one of our members guarantees an organisation that is classified under the renowned STA quality assurance scheme, STA Assure. You can find out more about this widely-recognised scheme by visiting the STA stand. Our experienced team will be on hand to guide you through what makes STA members ideal supply chain partners and our technical team will be able to assist you with more challenging detailing in designing offsite systems.

The STA is also proud to sit on the speakers panel in this year’s masterclass line-up. These experts are ready to demonstrate the significant contribution structural timber makes to offsite construction and the environment as it is the only truly sustainable construction material available.

As the construction industry navigates its way through new technologies, new assembly processes and even new terminology, it is reassuring to know that tried and tested technologies such as timber frame, SIPS and cross laminated timber (CLT) are available for as much of specification and build processes as required for individual projects. These materials offer extraordinary sustainability credentials and excellent contribution to carbon reduction by sheer nature of the raw materials.

ZEROWATT HOMES

To be a market leader in ultra-low cost, sustainable, energy self-reliant modular house building. ZWH is establishing a global foot-print with multi local hubs starting in UK, Italy, Australia and the Americas.

ZWH aims to offer easy and quick to construct solutions for both emerging economies prone to harsh climate conditions as well as becoming a leading supplier of high-quality energy self-reliant, quick to build, competitively priced modular housing units in overpriced developed economies suffering from soaring land values, pent up shortages of available social housing and low levels of affordability.

The basis of the build methodology of ZWH revolves around the utilisation of a novel combination of load-bearing wall panels combined with bathroom and kitchen pods, both elements contributing to the structural integrity of the building.

This unique ‘podular’ build system capable of construction up to 12 floors, combines with an ultra-lightweight photovoltaic roofing solution enabling the product to be sustainable. Similar to the design process in modern car production where the modular vehicle platform allows for multiple body designs/engines to be utilized, so the ZWH engineered platform allows for a range of designs to be produced efficiently and in a highly cost- effective way with the bulk of the manufacturing outsourced in a similar vein to Apple and its i-phone.

Construction lead times are compressed to approximately 20 days for a two storey three-bedroom affordable home. The build system is designed to provide a kit of parts that covers affordable up to luxury high end luxury villas.
