RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PLASY MONASTERY, CZ
The monastery in Plasy is abandoned for a long time. The current city was built around a monastery, but SUMMER SCHOOL today the monastery has OF ARCHITECTURE lost its role as a communal, TEAM: RADEK TOMAN, LUCIE administrative, and economic LORENCOVÁ, LUCIA MACKOVÁ, center. Our goal was to restore KLÁRA BUŽKOVÁ, PAVEL ZAHÁLKA its dignity and incorporate the monastery into the urban 2013 structure. In this process,
the proposal gains benefits from the specific atmosphere. As fundamental, we perceived the identification of entrances, the clarity of the area´s boundaries, and the definition of diverse spaces and activities inside and around the monastery.

We are using modern ways of thinking about the project of library and its social aspects for both – locals and visitors. At the same time, we are keeping the traditional elements of architecture and scale of the small village. To create the most suitable proposal, we respect the natural and rural atmosphere of the site as much as possible.

NEW OUTDOOR FURNITURE FOR LITOMYŠL TOWN GALLERY, CZ CLIENT: LITOMYŠL TOWN GALLERY
2016
The proposal asks to create the outdoor furniture serving to the needs of the gallery, locals, and tourists. We have designed a few white origami-like objects made of special thin kind of concrete. Litomyšl is old historical town, UNESCO heritage. So there is a clear significant contrast between what is old and protected (stone walls) and what is new (white concrete).

INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION PANELS, LITOMĚŘICE CHATEAU, CZ CLIENT: PRIVATE ART SCHOOL,DOLNÍ ÚJEZD
2013
The assignment was to create a presentation of the Art School on a very limited area, so we decided to design and construct interactive exhibition objects with a built-in touchscreen. On the screen, there is the electronic interactive presentation of the school. The theme of pupil´s works was called “mimicry” that year. We decided to use the enlarged parts of pupil´s drawings on the sides of the objects. We used the semitransparent material for the surface of the objects. So these objects have kind of mimicry too.

The memorial is a reminder to all the wrongfully tortured. The proposal indirectly brings to mind all the victims of the horrors of the twentieth century. The design does not create a theatrical gesture, but it brings a place of a quiet piety and peaceful contemplation of all the lost souls. It does not try to reconstruct the area
or to return the buildings to their original form. In the footprints of the already demolished houses, we place steel relics with the names of the tortured people. Areas of contemplative places are paved with old railroad ties, the symbol of collective transports to the extermination camp at Auschwitz.

NEW TOWER OF ST. BARTHOLOMEW CATHEDRAL IN PILSEN, CZ COMPETITION: AWARD WINNING PROJECT TEAM: RADEK TOMAN, ADA ŽABČÍKOVÁ
2012
St. Bartholomew Cathedral has just one tower. The other originally planned tower has never been built. We propose to finish the composition by a modern structure. It is made of two steel plates – one is crossing the other. So there is the cross on the top. The material reflects the sky. The whole structure seems clean and transparent, such as current church and society should be.

The new extension acts as a crossroad regulator between the existing villa and its approach from the street on the south side and the underground parking on the east side. The actual form derives from the main logical directions on the site to the main destinations as the new volume is positioned behind the existing villa with individual cutouts, ‘green bays’, in function of the extended external park coming into the pavilion. Inside they form divisions between internal spaces and create dynamic, light and calming atmosphere.

EXTENSION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL, ROZTOKY U PRAHY, CZ COMPETITION
2013
The new building should conform to current trends in teaching. The environment should act creatively and playfully on children. Instead of a monumental scale, the building should have the smaller scale, the same as the surrounding town. The smaller town-like scale is something that children experienced already,
THE VOLUME OF EXTENSION´S PROGRAMME
so they can orient there easily. The building must provide a variety of spaces to provoke children to their activities and games, thereby promoting their healthy development. The whole school is divided into several functional units. Inside the gaps between the volumes, there are unique spaces for outdoor games and outdoor lessons.

The exhibition of the museum is divided into five thematic units – five pavilions that are linked to each other just as the Olympic circles. Pavilions are shaped like huge concrete crystals. They are interconnected with each other by the underpasses and bridges, so the visitor smoothly passes through the entire exposure.
The feeling of fluent moving is also produced by the absence of stairs inside the building, all vertical movement inside the building is ensured by long ramps. The man seems to “float” through the building. In the middle of the building, there is an intimate courtyard that has the view–connections to the important sides.
