President Kyle Penelope Ward Kyle became Radford University’s sixth, and first female, president when she took office on June 1, 2005. She came to RU with more than 30 years of experience in state government, the corporate and legal worlds, and higher education. Upon assuming the presidency, President Kyle immediately focused on leading the university’s initiative to become one of the top 50 masters universities in the nation. The Radford University strategic plan “7-17”, completed in 2007 at her direction, identifies four strategic directives -- the investment in people, programs, global and local society and the future of Radford University. Under President Kyle’s leadership, the university also added its first doctoral program with an emphasis in rural mental health and launched an initiative to grow graduate college student enrollment by offering additional doctoral and masters level programs. She hired the university’s first provost and created two new vice presidential areas of responsibility, Information Technology and University Relations. The Radford University Board of Visitors, at President Kyle’s request, has increased its membership by four positions to provide an opportunity for more diversity and leadership innovation within the governing body. A native of southwest Virginia, President Kyle is a product of the Galax public schools system. She graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and did her postgraduate studies in English at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law and later earned her MBA from the College of William and Mary. President Kyle served as Executive Director of the Virginia Lottery for 11 years, under three successive governors. First appointed by Governor George Allen in 1994, she was reappointed by Governor James Gilmore, PENELOPE KYLE and then reappointed once again by Governor Mark Warner. Previously, Ms. Kyle was employed by CSX CorRADFORD UNIVERSITY poration, an international transportation company, where she became the company’s first female officer. Before PRESIDENT joining CSX Corporation, she was an attorney with McGuire, Woods, LLP in Richmond. She also taught English for six years at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia. President Kyle serves in leadership positions on numerous educational, civic, cultural, professional, financial and volunteer organizations. She served on the Board of Visitors at James Madison University from 1984 until 1992 and on the JMU Foundation Board 1992 until 1994. She also served on the Virginia Commonwealth University Foundation Board from 1994 until 2000 and on the Board of Governors of Saint Christopher’s School from 1999 until 2005. President Kyle is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Board of Directors of PRA, Inc., a publicly traded company. Ms. Kyle is married to Charles L. Menges, an attorney and partner with McGuire, Woods, LLC. They are the parents of three children, son, Kyle Ward Menges, and two daughters, Penelope Whitley Menges, and Patricia Lee Menges.

RADFORD ATHLETICS

The Radford University athletic program offers 19 varsity sports, eight for men and 11 for women: men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, along with field hockey, swimming, softball and volleyball for women, and baseball for men. The Dedmon Center and the outdoor athletic facilities, which surround the multi-purpose building are the award-winning focal point of a program that has grown rapidly the last three decades. The athletic program has grown dramatically since 1974-75, when men’s sports were first offered on a varsity level. Growth of the program has been rapid, but not random. Each step has been carefully controlled, with new sports being added only to meet existing demands and only after assurances for a quality operation could be met. The result is a well-balanced and highly successful program. Radford currently competes in the Big South Conference. A charter member of the young league, Radford has won 39 League titles in 10 different sports and has advanced to NCAA postseason play in seven sports. Highlander athletics offers strong support for its student-athletes. From academic advising to compliance services, Radford gives its student-athletes the support needed to be successful in the classroom. Radford’s athletic training and strength and conditioning programs allow the student-athletes to compete at their best possible level. A true team atmosphere, the Highlander family consists of each and every Radford student-athlete past and present, the coaches and athletics staff. Support for each program starts from within athletics and reaches out into the general university population and the community at large. Student-athletes and staff support each other, across sports, into training and the weightroom. In addition, strong personal bonds run throughout the Highlander family binding student-athletes, coaches and staff to each other.

LEADERS

Director of Athletics Since being introduced as Radford University’s Director of Athletics in the fall of 2007, Radford native Robert Lineburg has helped usher in a new era of Highlander athletics, marked by unprecedented on-and off-field improvements and successes. In his short time with the department, Lineburg has been the catalyst for a number of changes, particularly in areas such as facilities, personnel and strategic planning. His most visible influence to date has been on the Dedmon Center, where Lineburg has been involved with major renovations to the centerpiece of Radford athletics for more than 25 years. Beginning in the spring of 2008, the facility underwent transformations to the arena, including a new steel-supported roof, a new basketball floor, renovated athletic offices, a new-look natatorium, and improved athletic locker, training, and medical facilities. Along with the initial transformations to the Dedmon Center, an improved state-of-the-art strength and conditioning room, new ticket office and Learning Enhancement Center (LEC), which houses student-athlete academic support, were completed/ added in 2009. In 2010, facility upgrades included a new high-tech videoboard / sound system to the Dedmon Center as well as a new playing surface / irrigation system and dugouts to the Radford University Baseball Field. Lineburg has also overseen the hires of five new head coaches, as well as six new athletic administrators. His hires include women’s basketball head coach Taj Njongba, head volleyball coach Marci Jenkins, ROBERT LINEBURG women’s head golf coach Jeff RADFORD UNIVERSITY Beeler, head men’s soccer DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS coach Marc Reeves and the promotion of track and field interim director Brent Chumbley to head coaches’ status. Among the administrators added in Lineburg’s tenure are executive associate A.D. Randy Butt, head athletic trainer Chad Hyatt, assistant A.D. for communications Joey Beeler, director of student-athlete support services/senior women’s administrator Stephanie Ballein, Associate A.D. for external operations Greg Herring, and Director of Facilities Brad Epperley. As a result of the changes, Radford achieved a banner year in 200809: women’s soccer, men’s basketball, men’s tennis and softball claimed Big South conference crowns and advanced to NCAA Tournament play. Women’s soccer advanced to its fourth tournament, men’s basketball won the Big South regular-season and tournament title to advance to the NCAAs for the first time since 1998, men’s tennis made its third-straight appearance, and softball appeared for the first time and won Radford’s first-ever NCAA tournament game in any sport. Lineburg and the Highlanders backed their success in 2008-09 with a men’s tennis and softball Big South regular season title in 2009-10. Mickey Dean’s softball team went on to win their second straight conference tournament crown before advancing to the Athens, Georgia Regional final with two more NCAA Tournament victories. He and his staff have also been responsible for creating a five-year strategic plan for the Radford athletic department and building an athletics facilities master plan. Additional achievements include ushering in a new athletics Internet site (RadfordAthletics.com), and helping implement a new ticket system (Ticket Return). Lineburg and his staff have also hosted top-level competition, with five Big South championships taking place on

12

the Radford campus from 2008-10.. In addition to making an impact on Radford athletics, Lineburg is also involved in a number of different organizations and committees. He is the chairman of the Big South Conference on Basketball Improvement, a member of the Big South ad-hoc Committee on Basketball Issues, and a member of the selection committee to select Radford University’s Vice President for Advancement. Prior to becoming Radford’s third Director of Athletics, Lineburg’s corporate knowledge was groomed as a marketing associate with Peloton Real Estate Partners in Dallas, Texas. Along with his business experience, Lineburg spent 15 seasons as a college basketball coach, including time as Southern Methodist’s interim head coach. Prior to serving as the Mustangs interim head coach, Lineburg spent eight years as an assistant at SMU. Following his interim tenure, he served two more seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Methodist. Lineburg’s coaching resume also includes assistant coaching positions with the men’s basketball programs at James Madison University and Emory & Henry College, as well as with the Dallas Mavericks summer league team. His coaching experience also took him through the Big South, as he spent time on the sideline at UNC Greensboro. A 1991 graduate of Roanoke College, Lineburg started his collegiate basketball career as a Highlander, where he was a two-year letterman before transferring to nearby Roanoke College to play his final two years. He earned his Bachelor’s in political science with a minor in history. In 1995, he received a Master’s Degree in education from Virginia Tech, where he was also a graduate assistant on the men’s basketball staff. Lineburg is the son of retired Radford High School football coach and athletic director Norman Lineburg and the brother of Dr. Mark Lineburg, the Superintendent of Bristol City Schools, Paul Lineburg, the Assistant Principal at William Byrd H.S. and Wayne Lineburg, who is in his first season as the offensive coordinator at the University of Richmond. He is married to the former Mary Parish, also a native of Radford.

PATRICK D. CUPP STADIUM Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium was completed in 2003 and quickly became one of the premier soccer and track and field stadiums in the Southeast. The largest soccer/track facility in the Big South Conference, Cupp Stadium has seating for 5,000 spectators. Four large locker rooms, an on-site athletic training room, and a dedicated laundry room highlight the amenities for student-athletes and teams. The facility also includes a large, fully functional press box with dedicated storage and restrooms. Standard phone lines wireless and hard-wired internet connections were installed to serve all possible media needs. In addition the press box houses the stadiums leading edge scoreboard controls and sound system. In addition to the game-day amenities, Cupp Stadium serves the day-to-day needs of the soccer and track and field programs, all of which have offices inside the complex. The stadium also incorporates offices for RU’s field hockey, men’s and women’s tennis and golf programs. The soccer surface is a Bermuda blend natural grass field. A state-of-the-art drainage system was recently added to assist in keeping the field in top shape year-round. The track is a synthetic surface divided into eight lanes. The stadium also includes jumping and vaulting pits.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING A component that is vital to the Radford athletic program is the strength and conditioning program directed by Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Shumaker.

Highlander Athletics have long been recognized as one of the leaders among Mid- Atlantic schools in its conditioning and strength training. It has been an instrumental part in the success of Radford University sports through the years. Under the direction of Shumaker and assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Kim Faulkner, the program is designed to help each student-athlete reach his or her full potential in their respective sport. Each Radford University student-athlete has strength and conditioning programs unique to their goals as a player. This program, developed by Shumaker, helps prepare RADFORD student-athletes for the long and rigorous in-season schedule. The Strength and Conditioning staff at Radford University is committed to excellence in competition and in life.

Since its founding in 1983, the Big South Conference has matured into a competitive leader in college athletics, actively pursuing excellence on the field of play and in the classroom. The League’s growing presence as an NCAA Division I athletic conference is evident by athletic accomplishments on the national stage, innovative marketing and media partnerships, increased television packages, and quality athletic competition while intentionally fostering the academic, personal, social, athletic and leadership development of each student-athlete. This has evolved into the Conference’s mission of “Developing Leaders Through Athletics.” The Big South Conference was formed on August 21, 1983, when Charleston Southern (then Baptist College) Athletic Director Howard Bagwell and Augusta President George Christenberry began recruiting members into the Big South, receiving initial commitments from Augusta, Charleston Southern, Campbell, Coastal Carolina and Winthrop. One month later, Dr. Edward M. Singleton was selected as the League’s first Commissioner and continued to solicit new members. His efforts led to the additions of Armstrong State, Radford and UNC Asheville, giving the Big South more than the required six members to constitute an official conference. The Big South’s first year of competition was in the Fall of 1984, and in September 1986, the Big South Conference was granted fullfledged NCAA Division I status. During its infancy and prior to securing automatic bids to NCAA Championships, the Big South made early strides in earning at-large berths in several national postseason events, including volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s golf. In 1989, George F. “Buddy” Sasser replaced the retiring Dr. Singleton as Commissioner, and in 1990, the League received its first automatic bid – receiving an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Baseball Championship. Under Sasser’s seven years of leadership, the Conference implemented its public relations and compliance programs, and introduced its first-ever men’s basketball television package, featuring the Big South competing among some of the finest teams in the nation. In August 1996, Kyle B. Kallander replaced Sasser as the third Commissioner, and in his 13 years at the helm of the Big South, Kallander has been instrumental in aggressively promoting the Conference to new levels. The Conference has enjoyed record levels in marketing revenue during the past several years, he has brought television coverage to Big South women’s basketball, baseball and softball for the first time in Conference history, as well as increased national television exposure to the League as a whole through aggressive and unique television packages. Under Kallander’s leadership, the Big South developed and initiated its first long-range strategic plan, re-affirming the League’s vision as a distinctive athletic Conference committed to the quality of institutional life through athletic competition. He also spearheaded the efforts to add football as a championship sport, which came to fruition in 2002, and has solidified Conference membership with the additions of High Point, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian, and in 2011-12, the return of charter member Campbell University. Kallander’s long range vision has also included technological advancements, as the Conference introduced its first live event video streaming in 2005 and has since expanded its video offerings to more than 600 events annually through a partnership with the member institutions, as well as the creation of several online and social media platforms. In the last 15 years, the Big South has experienced monumental growth and success in nearly every sport. During this time, the Con-

18

ference has had two individual National Champions, more than 200 All-Americans, has reached the “Sweet 16” in men’s soccer, women’s basketball and baseball, has received national Top 25 rankings in men’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, men’s outdoor track & field, and men’s golf, had an individual selected to play in the NCAA Singles Championship four times in addition to the first men’s tennis doubles at-large selection, had the No. 1 ranked men’s golfer in the country, has had the nation’s top scoring men’s basketball team three consecutive years as well as the national men’s basketball scoring leader twice, received an at-large playoff berth in the Football Championship Subdivision in 2006, and had an institution finish fifth in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships – the highest-ever team finish in an NCAA event. The Conference’s tagline, “Developing Leaders Through Athletics” was unveiled in 2008-09 in conjunction with the Conference’s 25th Anniversary. The League also honored its heritage with the Top 25 “Best of the Best” moments in League history from 1983-2008, with Liberty University’s 10-year women’s basketball championship run from 1996-2007 being crowned the No. 1 moment in the Big South’s first 25 years. The Conference’s on-field accomplishments have been duplicated in the classroom. Annually, more than 40 percent of Conference student-athletes are named to the Big South’s Presidential Honor Roll for maintaining a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average, and the League has had more than 95 Academic AllAmericans in its quarter-century of existence.

Coaching Staff Brent Chumbley is in his fourth season as Radford University’s Director of Cross Country/Track and Field. During Chumbley’s tenure as head coach, Radford has produced 86 allconference performers, 25 Big South Champions, 20 regional qualifiers, 18 school records, a regional champion and a two-time All-America. Last season, Chumbley guided Kyle Morse in his second All-America campaign in the hammer throw. The Highlanders were named all-conference in seven events on the men’s side and eight on the women’s. Aimee Veatch enjoyed another standout season under Chumbley’s watchful eye, breaking the Top-20 in the NCAA rankings for the weight throw. The Highlaners had five athletes that were regional qualifiers and had two athletes earn Academic All-America status in Matt Dobson and current Highlander Sean Domer. Breaking school records have been a common occurance under Chumbley. A total of 19 school records on the women’s side and 22 men’s records have been eccliped since 2007, when Chumbley arrived in Radford. Chumbley’s 2009-10 season saw the men’s team finish third at the Big South Outdoor Championships, the highest finish since 2006. The women garnered a third-place showing as well in the Big South Indoor Championships, also the highest since 2006. For his efforts on the women’s side, Chumbley was named 2010 Big South Conference Women’s Coach of the Year for the indoor season. The 2009 season was no different for Chumbley, as the Highlanders carried over their success from the previous year by placing fourth and sixth in the outdoor championship and sixth and seventh in the indoor championships. Chumbley’s throwers fared well in the 2009 season as they placed in the top-five at both the indoor and outdoor championships. Freshman Aimee Veatch recorded first-place finishes in the weight throw at the indoor championships and reached the podium twice at the outdoor championships. Chumbley also had his hands in helping Lindsey Noe become the school record-holder in the pole vault. On the men’s side, he helped with the steady improvement of Matt Dobson and nurtured the talents of Justin Smith. During the 2009 season, each of these two indiplaced at the conference championBRENT CHUMBLEY viduals ship; Dobson in the weight throw and Smith HEAD COACH in the hammer and discus. Chumbley’s tutelage helped six athletes make it to the next level and qualify for the NCAA Regionals and national championships. Shemelia Brandon, Aimee Veatch and Britney Whittaker on the women’s side and Raschad Kelso, Olajuwon Jones and the 4x400 team on the men’s side. Kyle Morse reached the next level of competition under Chumbley, as he competed in the USATF National Championships. Brett Olinger and Justin Smith also reached the next level of competition as well as they competed in the USATF Junior Championships. Chumbley’s knowledge and experience of the sport saw instant results in the 2008 season. The men’s team posted their best-ever finish, second, at the Indoor Championships. Individually the men’s and women’s teams produced seven all-conference performers. The 2008 outdoor season saw individual Big South success and a number of Chumbley’s athletes advanced to the NCAA Regional meet. Two women, Amy Marshall and Shemelia Brandon, and seven men, Kyle Morse, Nictae Moore, Daniel Oseth, Raschad Kelso, Olajuwon Jones, Wayne Gore and Gaylon Johnson, all competed in the East Regional. Morse, an athlete under Chumbley’s teaching since his sophomore year, claimed the East Regional title in the hammer throw and advanced to the NCAA Championships, where he became Radford’s fifth All-America athlete, and the first with Chumbley at the helm. In 2007, Chumbley was called on to fill a new role, moving into the position of interim Program Director. At the conclusion of Radford’s track and field season in 2007, Chumbley had the “interim“ tag lifted from his title when he became the school’s director of track and field/cross country on June 23.

On the women’s side, he helped develop the top two throwers in program’s history: Tiffany Evans and Marshall. Under Chumbley’s watchful eye, Evans racked up four conference championships and earned Big South Field Performer of the Year honors in both the 2007 indoor and outdoor seasons. Marshall went on to post a pair of javelin titles of her own (2007-08), and etched her name into the school record books. In 2006, Chumbley was hired as the throws coach and in his first season there were instant results. Four throwers made their mark among the very best in the Big South and the program’s record book. Before landing in Radford, Chumbley’s background include four different stops. Prior to his arrival to Radford, he spent four seasons as an assistant at Illinois State. In his time with the Redbirds, Chumbley produced one United States Olympic Trials qualifier, two NCAA Championship qualifiers, 17 NCAA Regional qualifiers, eight conference champions and 23 all-conference performers. In addition, Chumbley helped guide his squad in setting four new school records and one conference record. Prior to Illinois State, Chumbley spent one year at Murray State, where he helped produce a conference champion, 17 all-conference performers and guided his group in setting four school records. Chumbley earned his Master’s in teaching (physical education) from Hastings College (Ky.), where he coached the NAIA affiliate school in producing two All-Americans, 12 national qualifiers, one multi-event national champion and 17 new school records. Beyond his collegiate coaching resume, Chumbley brings experience from the King of the Ring Throws Festival, the Redbird Track and Field Camp, the Urbana Coaches Clinic, Central Illinois Track Club and the Chumbley/Fister Throws Camp. Chumbley’s impact also carries over to post-collegiate athletes, including Radford’s other two-time All-America, Brian Richotte. He coached Richotte to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the hammer throw. He also coached Brian Krantz at the 2008 Indoor Championships. His track and field training includes certification as a USATF Level II Throws coach, and from USATF Level I coaching school. In 1998, Chumbley earned his Bachelor’s degree in education and kinesiology from the University of Kentucky and in 2001 received his masters in teaching from Hastings College. An All-Southern Conference performer in the hammer throw while at Marshall University, Chumbley was also a three-time Kentucky High School State Champion. He and his wife Jennifer currently reside in Radford with their daughter, Alex.

Coaching Staff Mark White is in his fourth season at Radford University where he oversees sprints, relays and hurdles and is the recruiting coordinator. He is USA Track & Field Level Two certified in combined events. Since White’s arrival at Radford, every school record with the exception of three, have been eclipsed in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Last season, White guided senior Olajuwon Jones, who qualified for the first round of the Outdoor National Championships in the 400m. White also mentored the 4x400-meter relay team, which claimed its third consecutive conference championship. In the sprints, White directed Raschad Kelso to new indoor school records in the 200 and 400m and added another during outdoor in the 200m. Under White’s guidance, Bryan Wallace set new school marks in the 110-meter hurdles (outdoor) and 60-meter hurdles (indoor) and Brett Olinger collected the 400-meter hurdle school standard. The 2009 indoor season saw new school records being shattered by sprinters in every meet. There were new school records set in the 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 200m, and 400m. The outdoor season was no different as school records were eclipsed in the 400m and the 4x400meter relay record was tied. Under White’s watch, four of his sprinters advanced to the NCAA Regional and two qualified for Nationals; Raschad Kelso in the 200 and Olajuwon Jones in the 400m. Jones and Kelso were also members of the 4x400-meter relay team that also advanced to Regional competition. Freshman Brett Olinger qualified for the USTAF Junior Nationals in the 400-meter hurdles. On the women’s side, White helped with the emergence of Britney Whittaker, who captured the 800m Big South Championship Outdoor crown and advanced to the Regional. The 2008 season under White immediate produced results as two relay records fell and the men’s 4x400 team claimed a Big South Title and a NCAA Regional berth. The men’s team of Wayne Gore, Jones, Gaylon Johnson and Kelso posted a time of 3:14.40 at the Big South Championship and a mark of 3:12.41 at the East Regional. White came to Radford after spending the past 11 years teaching and coaching at Middlesex County, Virginia. During that MARK WHITE ASSISTANT COACH time he filled a variety of athletic capacities, including six years as the school’s athletic director. He also served as the head varsity football coach and track & field coach. Under his guidance, the Middlessex boys track and field program won three consecutive Tidewater District Championships, Region A Championship in 2006 and a state runner-up placing in 2006. White was tabbed the Tidewater District Coach of the Year for three consecutive years (2000-07) and was awarded Region A Coach of the Year in 2006. White received his bachelors degree in history from nearby Ferrum College in 1996. He played baseball for the Panthers for four years (199195), where he was a teammate of perennial National League All-Star relief pitcher Billy Wagner. White also served as an assistant coach under Ferrum legend Abe Naff. During his high school teaching/coaching career, white earned his Master Degree from Ohio University in 2006 in sports science/athletic administration. White resides in Pembroke with his wife Susan, and daughters Abigail and Annabelle.

CHUMBLEY’S COMMENTS ON WHITE

“Mark is a tireless coach and recruiter. His ties and experience with the Virginia High Schools are invaluable as he runs our recruiting efforts. Mark has a great passion for the sport and for the student-athletes in our program. His athletes have already left a huge foot print on our record boards. We are incredibly lucky to have him on our staff.” 2007-Present 1997-07

COACHING EXPERIENCE

Assistant Coach, Radford Athletic Director/Coach, Middlesex High School

Coaching Staff Ernest Moss is in his first year as an assistant coach of the Radford track and field teams, where he will oversee jumps and multi-events. Before coming to Radford, Moss made coaching stops at Lehigh, Lafayette, Davidson and Virginia State. He is USATF Level I and Level II (Jumps) certified and a member of the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Moss spent two years as the head coach of the Virginia State University Trojans track and field/cross country program, giving the school its first NCAA Champion since 1983 in the high jump. He also produced four NCAA Division II All-Americas and a 2010 Collegiate Division high jump champion at the Penn Relays. In addition to training 11 NCAA Division II automatic and provisional qualifiers, Moss guided his men’s team to a 14th-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. Both a male and female jumper held the number one ranking in the women’s triple jump (Aishah Mujahid) and men’s long jump (Leon Hunt) simultaneously. Moss wasted little time in establishing himself and his team as a force in the CIAA and Division II. In 2008, he guided the Trojan women’s cross country team to their first CIAA Championship in school history and for his men’s squad, the first-ever back-to-back championships. It was also the first time that both men and women’s team captured the cross country titles in the same year. For his efforts during that 2008 season, Moss was named the CIAA Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. Prior to Virginia State, Moss coached at Davidson College from 2004-2008. While at Davidson, the Wildcats were named to the Academic All-American team all four years. He also coached three Southern Conference Champions and NCAA Regional Qualifiers. During his stay, 17 school records were broken and Davidson had the highest finish of any team at the Southern Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Moss became the assistant track and field coach at Lafayette College in 200304. While on the Lafayette staff, Moss had seven NCAA Regional Qualifiers and his student-athletes broke seven school records. Lafayette also had the IC4A Outdoor Champion in the 100. 42 performers were named All-Patriot League under the direction ERNEST MOSS of Moss. ASSISTANT COACH Prior to Lafayette, Moss was an assistant at nearby Lehigh University from 2002-03. During his stay, he mentored an NCAA Regional Qualifier in the men’s triple jump and 24 All-Patriot League performers. Maryline Roux, under the direction of Moss, finished seventh in the 400 and eighth in the 200m at the 2008 World Masters Indoor Championships. Roux was also a member of the women’s 40-45 world record 4x400-meter relay team. He also coached Justin Song to the semifinals of 400m in the Korean Nationals in 2006 and 2007. Moss graduated from Western Carolina University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications/Public Relations with a minor in Marketing/Sales and received his Master’s Degree of Art and Teaching from Sacred Heart University in 2002. Moss currently resides in Radford, Va.

CHUMBLEY’S COMMENTS ON MOSS

“The newest member of our staff and a huge addition to our program. He has a vast knowledge base of all events. He seems to be a “bottomless pit” of track and field information, a true student of the sport. Ernest will make big contributions to every facet of the program.”

Coaching Staff Sean Bossman returns to his alma mater for his third season as an assistant with the Radford University track and field program, overseeing all aspects of distance. Alongside his assistant reponsibilities, Bossman was promoted to head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country programs in January 2010. In his two years voluntarily assisting the distance program, Bossman helped guide one men’s all-conference performer, Dawit Legesse, and a two-time women’s all-conference athlete, Lori Crotts, in cross country. Each season under Bossman’s assistance, the Highlanders have placed a men’s and women’s cross country athlete on the Conference’s all-academic team (Brittany Christian - 2008, 2009; Joel Hanlon - 2008; Nathan Turner - 2009). In the course of his Radford career, Bossman was an outstanding distance performer for the Highlanders. He twice earned all-conference distinctions as a part of the distance medley relay team in 2006 and the 800m in 2008. Among his accomplishments on the track, Bossman also excelled in the classroom, garnering all-academic honors during the outdoor season in 2008. Bossman clocked Radford’s 2008 season-best times in the indoor 800m (1:55.80) and mile (4:23.56). He also held Radford’s best times in the 800 (1:52.48) and 1,500m (3:56.50) during the outdoor season. Bossman earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise, sport and health education in May of 2008 and currently resides in Radford.

COACH CHUMBLEY’S COMMENTS ON BOSSMAN
