09:00 This stage takes you from Kristiansand on the southern tip of Norway, and westward along the 'Norwegian Riviera' to Stavanger, gateway to the magnificent Lysefjorden and home to Pulpit Rock, one of the world’s truly breath-taking viewpoints.
We will make a stop in Lysefjorden, and you can take a hike to Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock). Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock) towers 604 metres above the Lysefjord and the hike up is one of Norway’s most famous mountain hikes.
You can also choose to take a hike up the Flørli stairs. The stairs have 4.444 steps and is one of the longest wooden staircases in the world. We have 20 seats for this trip.
The hike costs NOK 200 per person and must be prebooked online.
The final leg of the voyage takes us to Stavanger.

From Stavanger we sail against north along the rugged Atlantic coast of western Norway, protected by its thousands of offshore islands. We will make a visit to one of them, Utsira, if the weather permits us to make a stop. The region features the most spectacular fjords and mountain sceneries in Norway.
We will also make a stop in Rosendal, you can visit the only Barony we have in Norway.

You will be seeing a panorama of the town of Lerwick, Shetland’s capital and most northerly town of the British Isles. In Lerwick you can join us for a sight-seeing:

Visit Scalloway the ancient capital and its ancient castle which was build around 1600 by Earl Patrick Stewart. Entry to the Scalloway museum which displays on ancient Shetland and the Shetland bus which was a WW2 resistance movement with Norway. View the beauty of the Tingwall valley, learn of our Norse heritage and observe our largest tree plantation at Kergord. The Shetland jewellery workshop is a stop where you will see the production of handcrafted items with Celtic and Norse themes. You also have a chance to purchase items in the shop. We will arrive in Kristiansund, beautifully situated on four islands that form a unique harbour area facing the open ocean. Kristiansund is Norway`s c lipfish capital, and the place to experience traditional bacalao and other delicious salted cod dishes.

Sail with us north towards Bodø, from Norway’s picturesque clipfish capital of Kristiansund. We will pass the Artic Circle along the way.
We plan a stop a t Svartisen, the second largest glacier in Norway. After a short walk, we will have lunch close to the glacier. However, when you sail you can not always make plans. If the winds are good and if it is raining ashore, we will keep sailing instead of making a stop. The captain will decide this during the voyage.
Our voyage ends at the Arctic city of Bodø, home to the world’s strongest maelstrom Saltstraumen, and a perfect jumping-off point for visiting the majestic Lofoten Islands.

Each voyage will start and end in Bodø, but where we go and what we see will be different on every voyage. The captain will decide where to go when he sees the weather forecast and the directions of the wind. In this way we will get the best out of each voyage. Lofoten has so much to offer, and the distances are quite short. Here are examples of places we might visit and things we might explore: The spectacular Trollfjord with its narrow inlet and steep mountain where you often can spot eagles. Nusfjord is a small and exotic fishing-village and so is Reine. From Reine there is a path to

The winds might be good for sailing on the north coast of Lofoten and if the weather permits, we have also sailed out to Værøy, where we swam in clear blue and ice-cold water! What your voyage will be like is decided by the weather and winds.

We will sail westwards, to The Faroe Islands, and we invite you to join us on this spectacular tour! From Bergen, we expect some good sailing before we go into Torshavn, the smallest capitol in Europe. The Faroe Islands consist of 18 islands, they are all green from the grass and flowers, it is also a rich bird-life here. We will see many different seabirds.
The Norse (Scandinavians) established their parliament on the Tinganes peninsula in AD 850 and as Torshavn grew bigger through trade, it developed to be the largest city on the islands.You get the evening and the next day to explore Torshavn and the surroundings.
In Torshavn you can join us on a sight- seeing tour with guide: The tour starts with a bus-drive ca one mile south of Torshavn to Kirkjubøur, one of the oldest villages in the Faroe Islands and certainly one of the most historical. It used to be the center of all religious and cultural activity in the country, and the history go as far back as to the Vikings. Back in Torshavn, we will go for a walk in this charming Capital, the smallest in Europe. Must be prebooked.

CHRISTIAN RADICH Christian Radich was built by Framnæs Mech. Yard in 1937. She was built as a sail training ship: the orlops (dormitories) had capacity for berthing 80-90 students, a large galley for learning to cook, carpentry training, and earlier there was also a machine shop on board (where the galley is now) for the training of engineers. The purpose of the training ship was to train sailors. Sailing-ships were the usual vessels around the turn of the century and that is why the sailing ships continued as a school ship later on. Today the ship’s capacity is 80 trainees. Not many can measure themselves against her, neither in size, beauty nor qualities. To participate on a voyage aboard the “Christian Radich” is an adventure as well as an opportunity to learn something about the life on board a sailing ship. – And who knows, maybe an opportunity to learn something about yourself too?

Things to bring
The shop on board
Most important is that you bring some warm clothes, clothes that are water- and windproof, and good shoes. Even if you sail in summer, it can be cold at sea, especially on a night watch. We recommend that you bring with you:
In the small shop you can buy some snacks, chocolate, soft drinks, toiletries and souvenirs.
• Passport • Sleeping bag, not too warm • Warm and waterproof clothing • Cap • Gloves • Toiletries • Suntan lotion • Sunglasses • Shoes with rubber soles, or rubber boots • Towel • Personal medicines • Mobil charger • Small backpack if going ashore • Choose clothes that may take stains • Pack in a soft bag without wheels. The bag shall be stored into your locker, which takes 120 liters. • A part of the locker can be locked with a small padlock that you bring with you or purchase on board.
Mobile phone and power The mobile phone has no coverage when we are in open sea. Should a situation require contact with people ashore, the ship and the office will assist you. Power supply on board is 220 VAC.
Washing clothes It’s not possible to wash your clothes on board. If yourvoyage are longer than one week, you may contact the sergeant in order to use the ships washing machine. The ships have limited space for luggage. A bag which takes 120 litres is what you can bring onboard on the voyage.

No days will be the same. One could see you setting & trimming sails, steering, navigating and learning the ways of the open sea; t he next you might spend enjoying the fjords with the sun in your face, swaying in a h ammock with a good book, taking photos or discussing the ways of the world with your fellow adventurers over a cup of coffee.
As a trainee, you may find yourself taking the helm at night, watching dolphins play in the bow waves and whales pass by, while the others sleep and the only sound is the wind in the sails. And you will remember falling asleep as moonlight and phosphor escence flash in a dark sea, listening to the endless sound of breaking bow waves.

From the east, around the southern tip and westwards to the high North, the contrasts are extreme. The southernmost city of Kristiansand has idyllic beaches, a charming whitewashed old town and famous wildlife and amusement parks. Bodø, located north of the Arctic Circle, is home to the "midnight sun", eagle and whale safaris and the world’s strongest maelstrom. Other captivating coastal stopovers include the cosmopolitan oil capital of Stavanger, with Europe’s best-preserved wooden house settlement and Norway’s best surfing, and Bergen, the west coast World Heritage site and international maritime hub.

HIKING Why not supplement your voyage with a few once-in-a-lifetime hiking adventures. Norway, with its amazingly varied terrain, wide-open spaces and interconnected network of trails and cabins, is an Eldorado for hikers and nature lovers. Regardless of whether you prefer to visit World Heritage sites and iconic attractions, such as the panoramic Pulpit Rock or the world’s strongest maelstrom Saltstraumen, or rather want to discover breathtakingly beautiful villages and remote alpine plateaus, hiking can take you there.

Many of the best outdoor destinations are within easy reach of our ports of call and you will find a wide selection of hiking and exploring excursions suitable for all ages and levels of mobility.
On our visits to the Lofoten archipelago, stop at the most beautiful village in Norway, Reine for a trek up to the breathtaking seascapes from Reinebringen mountain or hike along a seascape of little fishing villages stacked up one after the other like a string of pearls. If you want to follow in the footsteps of Norway’s Queen Sonja, our stop at Bodø brings you close to her favorite hiking destination, the craggy peaks of the Seven Sisters mountain range. Inland from Bergen, you can wander for days across the alpine plateau o f the Hardangervidda National Park. With nearly 30 public cabins and endless trails to hike, it’s home to a large herd of wild reindeer and close to the Folgefonna glacier.
If you travel through the city of Stavanger, don’t miss the hike up to Pulpit Rock, one of the world’s truly breath-taking viewpoints. From this panorama point, at 604 meters, you look down on the magnificent Lysefjord, with its vagabond’s cave, ancient farms, water falls, idyllic islands and majestic landscape.

LOCAL HERITAGES Why not complement your voyage by exploring Norway’s unique heritage.
Many of the country’s World Heritage sites are in easy reach of our ports of call. Norway is also renowned for its maritime heritage, from fishing and shipping to oil and gas. You can see evidence of this all along our route, the ‘clipfish capital’ of Kristiansund founded on bacalao, to the futuristic Norwegian Petroleum Museum in Stavanger.
Other attractions you can discover along the way include a Viking chieftain’s longhouse with its own banqueting hall, a 17th century Manor House and Renaissance garden in a remote coastal village.
