COLLECTION SELL

My collection is all about casual chic with an androgynous touch. It has a quite minimalistic feel to it. My focus was to keep a balance between clean lines and airy fabrics that can together create effortless pieces. Keeping the whole collection in mind, I tried to design comfortable yet unique pieces that represent the DNA of the brand. My inspiration behind the collection was Artisan art.

I have designed this collection A/W 2016/17 for the brand Deborah Henning. Her customers are mostly expats and are always on the go. Thus, want to make quick wardrobe changes that can help them transition from day look into night look. Therefore I styled transitional outfits so by simply putting a jacket on can make it day time appropriate. My garment range consists of different types of dresses, from evening to day time. Along with that there are Eton formal shirts as well as casual tees. Since its autumn winter season, I designed a variety of jackets and coats to keep one warm. There are hybrids of jackets as well, for instance layered trench jacket. To pair it with, there’s casual draped pants and leggings with knee cutouts. The color palette I followed was monochrome with a touch of Artisan. It features blacks, to greys, white and light beige. The light beige definitely helped is bringing freshness and subtleness into the brand’s black/white palette. In terms of shapes and silhouette, there are straight clean lines but other places curve semicircle popped up. It kept the garment range balanced, not too edgy or soft. The silhouettes were kept quite loose and comfortable which lots of layers involved. From what the Deborah Henning brand has used in previous collections, I brought back the same fabrics and incorporated some new ones. New palette of fabrics like Japanese toyobo cotton, butter crepe, cotton viscose blend and BMX crepe worked well with chiffons and Italian jersey. Since the brand hasn’t introduced a print yet, it was perfect opportunity to create a print. It’s bold and subtle at the same time. The colors I kept the same; monochrome along with natural beige. The prints are inspired by an artisan windows and door shapes. It’s quite abstract and geometric, which compliments the loose silhouettes. There are two main details I focused around my collection. On is a zipper placement in a shape of a window, which I incorporated at the backs of dresses as well as bottoms. Other than that, I’m using an accessory; a collar pin which I inserted in places like cuffs, layers and collars. This detail brings forward the music influences of the brand.
