Ada Mall is the first project which I developed when I joined Design International. I started to work on it during the concept stage as Senior Architect and BIM Specialist and, along the process, I was promoted to Team Leader. Ada Malll has been as well the first BIM project in Design International. Indeed, part of my initial responsabilites was to set up the templates and standards for it. We developed the Revit model up to BIM Level 2 of Coordination with LOD 300. Once the tender was completed, I followed all the requests by the leasing agents to modify the layout of the units. I also was in charge of monitoring the indicative tenants plans. I designed and developed several construction details in cordination with local contractor. Among them, the interior feature (timber nest), the balustrades or several facade details. Although I haven’t followed daily correspondence during the last stage, I have travelled to site and supervised each of the documents produced by the team. The project is due to open in early 2019.

On Al Araimi Walk Project I coordinated a multidisciplinary team. We developed the concept following continuous instructions from the client and, once it was fully accepted, I led the project during the coordination phase with the different local consultants (architects, MEP, structures, traffic, fires, etc). During the process I travelled in many occasions to Muscat (I followed this project in parallel to my work in Al Araimi Boulevard) to carry out frequent workshops with consultants. That way, I could contribute to sort out problems by identifying issues and implementing changes in the project/design to solve them. When the DD was completed and before the tender phase, we carried out a value engineering process. Besides management and coordination tasks, I developed many documents (mainly facade and skylight construction details and diagrams) as well as I headed and supervised all construction documents developed by the rest of the team.

Al Araimi Boulevard came to Design International straight after the DD phase. The design concept and the previous stages were developed by a company not specialized in shopping centres. Because of this, the client required a specialized team to complete the work and develop a feasible leasing proposal, as well as the corresponding documentation of shop front criteria. Together with local consultants, we also developed budget evaluation and value engineering tasks. Some of the most successful ideas of the project, such as the inclusion of external retail pavilions (restaurants) were proposed by us after the DD stage. We also developed several indicative tenant plans (ITP) as requested by client. During the leasing process, the retail units were modified following the request of the leasing team. From January to September of 2018 I travelled in many occasions to Muscat to monetarize the construction process and suggest ideas regarding the quality of the interior of the building.

Yachay is a prototype of Intelligent / Educational city developed in Ecuador. On this project I worked for a joint Venture composed by different Chinese firms (CCDI, CTA, SINOHYDRO) to develop a public assignment in Ecuador. I had a four-month assingment in Quito to study the feasibility of 19 projects in Yachay and to check the site works processes. My role included visits to construction site, meetings with contractors, project reviews and budget analysis and planification.

CCDI is one of the largest construction firms in China. I was part of its Beijing branch, being a team member of a department specialized in public buildings. My team was composed of a Chinese Manager and a local Team Leader. After the trial period, my role was to accompany the Team Leader as the second project responsible as well as sharing with her the production and team management tasks. The team was usually composed by 8 people. This building is the first project of its kind funded by private developers in China. It is as well the first concept that I developed for CCDI: I led it during its initial stages and proposed the layout (which is designed following three phases of construction). I also proposed different options and material compositions for the façade, developed the concept and specifications for the interior space, etc. As the building is specialized in hosting patients with Alzheimer’s disease, we followed the guidelines of foreigner specialized consultants, who we met in several workshops. In the DD phase the project was led by CCDI Technical Department. However, I was supervising the BIM model during both SD and DD.

This project was funded by the local government of Taihu. Due to Chinese Public Buildings inputs, we had to use cost-saving construction systems. This was a strong challenge, as the client was particularly interested in us achieving an emblematic and iconic result. In this project I shared the leadership responsibilities with the Team Leader, who took over the DD phase next to the Technical Department of CCDI. However, I remained linked to it until almost the end of the construction stage. Facade design as well as most of the production of floor plans and 3D were my responsibility. I also supervised the production of facade details when it was being developed by CCDI Technical Department.

The concept for this hotel-village was originally designed by the Team Leader. However, I oversaw the team during the production of the SD and, once it was completed, I joined the Technical Department during the DD phase. This experience gave me the chance to become familiar with CCDI’s technical production standards. I produced several construction details (1:20 / 1:50). Although coordination with consultants was not my responsibility, I highly contributed during the process. After the DD and tender phases I had many chances of visiting the construction site to follow the building process and the realisation of the interior finishes.

Ortiz León (Madrid) was the first company in which I worked as an architect. During the two years I contributed to several projects and competitions. Specifically, in the Iberia Headquarters I was a team member during all the phases of the project, from the competition stage to the elaboration of the building documentation. Although I worked as a junior architect, I was integrated in a team among several seniors. Thanks to this, I learned not only about how the project was coordinated, but many other standardized processes that were taking place in the office. We completed the entire construction documentation (CD). However, the project was never built due to the economic situation.
