Billy the Bat Billy is a little bat. His problem is he’s very fat.
2
He’s fat because he always eats chocolate cakes and sugary sweets. Hamburgers, ketchup and French fries instead of insects, fruit and flies. 3
He is so fat he cannot fly up into the dark night sky.
4
So his Mum puts him on a diet. “Oh no!” cries Billy. Mum snaps: “Be quiet!” “If you want to fly up there eat like a bat, not like a bear!
5
For breakfast, there’s a bowl of berries.
For lunch, a bunch of juicy cherries. 6
For tea, some scrunchy crunchy flies, and for dinner - a nice surprise!
7
“For ten days you must follow this diet to get thin again.” Billy thinks: “I’ll try it!”
8
Days one and two are not too bad, Billy doesn’t feel too sad. 9
Days three and four are not so good, Billy’s tummy feels like wood!
10
Days five and six are very hard! A cake from the kitchen? No - Mum’s on guard!
11
Days seven and eight come and go. Poor Billy’s tummy rumbles so!
12
At last day nine and then day ten Billy looks quite thin again! 13
At night he climbs a tall dark tree, he flaps his wings and counts to three. Then jumps, and now, no longer fat, he flies at last - just like a bat! 14
