The Best HOTEL IN CAMBODIA

Voted the No.1 hotel in Cambodia by readers of the US-based travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, in its annual Readers’ Choice Awards 2022.

1929 1936 1997 2020

Le Royal – Cambodia’s first five-star hotel – opened with a lavish ball, attended by His Majesty Sisowath Monivong, which took place on 20th No vember 1929.

Matinée idol Charlie Chaplin, accompanied by his co-star of ‘Modern Times’, Paulette God dard, visited Phnom Penh in April 1936 on his way to Angkor and stayed at Le Royal with his entourage.

The hotel re-opened as Raf fles Le Royal, following major renovations, having been taken over by the Singapore-based Raffles Group – increasing the hotel’s original capacity three fold.

The hotel embarked on a metic ulous restoration project to re invigorate Cambodia’s grande dame with modern convenienc es and stylish new additions to mark the hotel’s 90th anniver sary.
