TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
Academic project | Semester VII | March 2022
A transit hub is a place where passengers are interchanged between vehicles and/or between two or more transport modes. This project is a TOD (Transit Oriented Development) in Velachery, Chennai aimed at revitalizing the existing MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit System) combined with a bus terminus and an IT office tower, integrated as a transit hub in a monolith structure. The initial curves were evolved from the curvature of the existing MRTS tracks that goes across the site which are then mirrored in different directions.
This concept of trinity aims at integrating the three major user typologies that interconnects among each other through the hub.
Based on the necessity in Velachery, Bus terminus and MRTS through the hub with Office spaces on top of the hub are all integrated in a single structure.
04
05
06
Instead of having a parallel curvature to the MRTS tracks, the structure intertwines over and below the elevated tracks.
Having the main stucture in the middle radiating in three directions, the voids created along the sides could be used for bus terminus, landscaping and parking.
Thus, the final form envelopes the MRTS and holds the office spaces on top creating a void in the intermediate level for recreational public spaces.

BAYSIDE RETREAT
Academic project | Semester VI | July 2021
A retreat is a quiet and secluded place in which one can rest or relax peacefully. This project is a beach resort located at Paramankeni in Chengalpattu district along NH332A (ECR - East Coast Road) running from Chennai to Pondicherry. This coastal highway is the go-to attraction for a lot of tourists and motorcycle riders, who will find this retreat to be an ample location for a perfect weekend or a vacation. HOUSE 2.0
Competition project | Team work | June 2021
In the Corona virus pandemic scenario, the house became a haven and at the same time a prison. Its spaces took multiple roles - of the workspace, the gym and the entertainment space. The pandemic continually reinforced the sharp lines between inside and outside, and simultaneously, of chaos and order. Looking at an era post the pandemic, this project aims to explore how the house design takes on these multiple roles and creates the ideal home. Sketchup | Lumion | Photoshop

ROOFS ARE IMPORTANT People devote much of their thought, time, and resources to selecting, modifying, and decorating their living spaces. Yet, the based-on experience psychological written works, says almost nothing, about the roles that homes might play in peoples’ lives. We strongly believe that homes provide an informative context for examining how social, developmental, cognitive, and other psychological processes play out in a consequential real-world setting. We attempted to illustrate the potential insights to be gained from studying homes with an exploratory study that maps the psychological ambiances (e.g., comfort, togetherness, acceptance) that people desire in their homes; we identified six broad ambiance dimensions (restoration, kinship, storage, stimulation, intimacy, productivity) that show mean differences across rooms. We then made an effort to connect these findings to existing work on situation selection in emotion regulation. These ideas provide only an initial foray into the domain of residential space, but they hint at the productive roles that homes and other spaces could play in psychological theorizing and research.
Kerala’s traditional architectural style incorporates the sloped roofs which serves the best for the climate there. Community based settlements typically follow radial arrangement for a better social interaction and a sense of protection.
21
The pentagonal arrangement here is considered for each functionality, the spaces in a house provide to the inhabitant. This also maintains the concept of unifying people in a common central space.
Hence the final form incorporates both the aspects to spatial consideration and traditional roofing in response to climate and the structural integrity of the building. The added units are doubled up vertically to add more rooms.

ARCHZIG Render Awards 2022 Team of 2 | Shortlisted in Top 30 MERVILLE What if there are unexplored MERVILLEs under the majestic oceans and trenches? What if we, humans are the only beings unaware of an underwater world that is the manifestation of the sublime over exploited lands of Earth? This project visualizes a Utopian Merville with a high level of advancements in transits and habitation that humans could probably arrive at in the far future with the advancing technology. We have commissioned a Merville as a wilderness, and integrated the buildings perfectly with their surroundings, through a careful and rational design capable of increasing the strong bond between nature and architecture. With a limited number of angles, the geometry of the Merville remains fluid, unbroken, and in movement. The arrangement of transits and domiciliation provides a continuum with no set periphery. The habitats exhibit contrastingly warm lights and shades, yet are explicitly left plain to become emphasized from their majestic outside. Blender | Cycles | Photoshop
