nd how time flies! It seems as if yesterday only we were talking about what 2013 will bring along, how the industry will fare, & who will come up with the best exhibition. And here we are, analyzing the year already gone by!! It is rightly said, If you want to achieve something – Start Now. Let bygones be bygones, do not impress upon trifle things & be true to yourself. Work in the keenest spirit & worry not about the outcome. This is the secret to success. The year 2013 was overall good. In my opinion, the shows were bigger & better. New & grand booth designs were witnessed. Around 390 A & B class events were held this year. The focus on giving exhibitions an industry status is gaining steam & awareness about the significance of exhibitions is constantly increasing. Aahar was grand & so were IFSEC, AceTech, Franchise India & Excon amongst many others. There must be some big lessons learnt too. It is imperative that the mistakes which happened last year do not crop up this year. The growing competition will ensure a dip in profit margins. The only way to be in a better position is by being in touch with the past clients, ensuring client satisfaction & serving even small clients with big enthusiasm. The social media can be a great friend if used effectively. It can serve as a great tool for your business. As Arwind Kejriwal takes the oath of being Delhi’s CM, the message is clear. Change is a key parameter. Understand it, adapt & evolve continuously to succeed in your domain. In this issue we bring together a collage of issues relating to the exhibition industry. It’s an interesting mix of articles that will keep our readers absorbed all through.Role of digital media in the event industry is highlighted & an overview of exhibition industry in 2013 has been covered. Coimbatore as an inbound MICE destination is captured. Mr. Devender Prashad from Exporing speaks his mind and as usual the reviews of exhibitions held last month are also included. Team Exhibition Showcase wishes you a Very Happy New Year!

enter for Exhibition Industry Research, the third quarter showed slowing growth of 0.2 percent, compared with 0.9 percent in the same quarter last year. Three metrics showed decline, also compared with the same quarter last year – net square feet, exhibitors and attendees – with real revenues the only in-crease in the third quarter since the same period in 2012. The results also showed continued slowing growth in contrast to the overall economy, which saw the GDP gaining 1.6 percent year-onyear in the third quarter.

He added, “Poor attendance appeared in many industries, especially the Government (GV) and Education (ED) sectors.” Though attendance declined in the third quarter, there was slight growth in the other three metrics, compared with the second quarter.
