Thais’s  memories  â€“  along  with  those  of  her  brother  Doug  Green  â€“  of  camping  there  on  Kereopa  whanau  land  stretch  as  far  back  as  toddlerhood  when  she  holidayed  every  year  with  her  family  in  the  very  spot  that,  on  Auckland  Anniversary  Weekend,  was  again  open  to  the  public.   And  Thais  was  delighted  to  meet  once  more  Raglan  resident  Angeline  Greensill  who  was  taking  the  $5  entrance  fee  to  the  car  park  â€“  a  role  that  was  also  Angeline’s  as  a  child  when  she  then  collected  two  shillings  at  the  gate  for  car-parking  access  to  the  lagoon  and  Indicators. The  visit  stirred  other  memories  too.  â€œMy  husband  Ian  remembered  Angeline  won  Miss  Raglan  (years  ago),â€?  Thais  told  the  Chronicle  early  this  week.  Angeline  â€“  daughter  of  the  late  Eva  Rickard  and  niece  to  past  identity  Sam  Kereopa  â€“  is  a Â

Angeline  extended  the  invitation  to  the  Green  and  Butler  families  to  revisit  the  bay  and  introduce  themselves  to  Riria’s  descendants  after  they  featured  in  a  Chronicle  story  this  month,  having  camped  now  for  46  years  at  Kopua  Holiday  Park  and  at  Whale  Bay  before  that.   Edith  Symes

Picnicker takes away more than leftovers Rumours  about  town  that  a  prominent  member  of  Raglan’s  emergency  services  scored  the  $1  million  winning  Lotto  ticket  at  Raglan  Pharmacy  were  dashed  last  Friday  when  a  Hamilton  man  revealed  he  was  the  lucky  punter.   The  man,  who  wished  to  remain  anonymous,  said  he’d  bought  the  ticket  while  out  at  Raglan  for  a  picnic  but  only  found  RXW DERXW KLV ÂżUVW GLYLVLRQ ZLQ ZKHQ KH FKHFNHG KLV tickets  while  buying  a  Big  Wednesday  ticket  days  later.   He  realised  something  was  up  by  the  look  on  the  face  of  the  young  guy  behind  the  Lotto  counter.  â€œI  said  to  him  I  hope  it’s  more  than  $10,000  and  he  said  it’s  got  a  lot  more  zeros  than  that.â€?

That’s  not  bad  for  a  family  venture  that  started  out  selling  about  130  products  online  back  in  December  2011.  The  Puklowskis  are  now  selling  online  or  through  their  stores  more  than  750  lines  of  American  and  British  candies  and  sweets,  including  the  big  names  like  Hersheys  and  Reese’s.  Yes,  business  is  going  â€œvery,  very  wellâ€?,  admits  20-something  Micah  Puklowski  â€“  better  known  around  town  as  D EXGGLQJ ÂżOP PDNHU DIWHU VWXG\LQJ PHGLD arts  on  leaving  Raglan  Area  School. Her  family  â€“  who’ve  run  United  Video  in  Frankton  for  close  to  a  decade,  with  Micah’s  younger  brother  Finn  managing  the  shop  â€“  started  selling  the  candy  from  their  store  several  years  ago.
