CONCRETE LAWN 1861 Swamp is drained to form a lake within the university campus.
Prior to 1855 Land belonged to the Wurundjeri people. Grounds consisted of swampy grassland and was therefore a food-gathering area.
1888 Old Biology building built, now know as the Baldwin Spencer Building. 1910The Student Representative Council is formed and the Museum building is expanded to become the Union House.
1853The University of Melbourne is established.
1863National Museum is designed. 1939 Lake is filled to accommodate the requirements for a rapidly expanding campus. 1970 Raymond Priestley Building is built. 2014 Melbourne School of Design is constructed.
1968 Concrete Lawn designed and is based on a riot proof university campus.
