Get Out of Your Head & Back into Your Body! Release Stress & Tension through Movement & Power Grounding By Tone Cardenas
A
n old Hopi prophecy depicts modern man with his head separated from his body, warning us that if we cannot connect with our bodies and stop living only in our heads then we will have serious problems with both ourselves and the planet. Kali, the Hindu goddess of ego destruction, is depicted wearing a garland of severed smiling heads—depicting joy and bliss from being cut free from the stress, drama, and suffering created by our overthinking egoic minds. Step 1 in mastering stress is understanding that it’s neither good nor bad in and of itself. It is essentially neutral in nature. What makes it either beneficial or detrimental is our own negative responses and interpretations of it, that is, it is whether we choose to perceive it as either a potentially beneficial challenge somehow or a distressing problem to avoid. Distressing situations create muscular/vascular tension, increase heart rate and blood pressure, and activate the autonomic nervous system and the “fight-flight” response temporarily. This is a natural response and not problematic unless one responds poorly to it. Negative thoughts or feelings can
4

translate quickly into bodily tension and other uncomfortable symptoms. The longer and stronger the negative emotions or feelings, the greater the symptoms. If prolonged, this creates chronic muscular tension, aches and pains, headaches, high blood pressure, or any other tension-related disorders that play havoc on our bodies. But Hans Selye’s research has shown that stress can actually be beneficial! He named this eu-stress versus the dis-stress we usually associate with it. Other studies show that if stress is managed properly it can actually boost immune function and memory using the same cortisol and adrenaline that cause detrimental effects in chronic dis-stress. Effective stress-depression management requires we learn to relax mind and body at will. This isn’t really as hard as you think. The simplest, quickest, safest way to reduce stressrelated symptoms is through physical activities that facilitate relaxation, deeper breathing, and normal circulation. Time-honored methods for achieving this are movement, exercise, stretching, meditation, yoga, tai chi, dance, good posture, breath awareness, and grounding. Total body stretching is the primary way to alleviate stress-related symptoms because it quickly relaxes
bodily tension and restores normal breathing and circulation. Besides stretching, the most important thing to master is conscious breathing coupled with what I call the postural ABCs: alignment-balance-centering and gravity grounding. It’s simple, quick, safe, and effective, and most important it can be done anywhere, anytime, instantly, and on demand! All others take some time to do. When I speak of grounding, most people think of the electrostatic type whereby one walks barefoot on the
Body & Mind
ground or runs hands through cold water to discharge excess static electricity or bad energy (positive ions) while absorbing the good energy (negative ions), thereby achieving electromagnetic equilibrium in the body. Fewer are familiar with postural-gravitational grounding, whereby we align-balancecenter our spine and core (center of gravity) with the Earth’s core in all activities of daily living. This gets us
out of our monkey minds and instantly drops us back into our bodies, our breath, our senses, and the “present”! It stabilizes the posture, relaxes the body, clears the mind, recharges the nervous system, and reconnects us to our natural state. This is the most important thing I’ve ever discovered for health and fitness, neck/back care, and stress management in my 40 years as a physical therapist. Yet it seems to be the least understood and practiced by most I meet, other than by masters of martial arts, yoga, gymnasts, professional dancers, and so on. If you’d like to learn more about the postural ABCs, instant gravitygrounding, and other revolutionary movement medicine technologies for stress-depression management, spine care, and health and fitness, visit MovementMedicine.com, YogaSwings.com, or email info@movementmedicine.com.

A Letter from the Publishers Every Ending Is
A New Beginning...
A
fter going through what everyone has gone through in the Paradise/Magalia/Concow area and Northern California it’s difficult to find the right words. But starting out with words of gratitude for all of you in the surrounding areas such as Chico, Oroville, and Los Molinos who took in so many displaced residents from the ridge would be a good place to start. And to all of you who lost so much so quickly, we can only say this … you’re not alone, even though at times it must feel that way. My wife, Dhara, and I along with the help of Marianna Love and her husband, Ray Varlinsky, are going to open the Lotus Guide Center for Healing & Information in association with Love’s Vibrant Art at 6268 Skyway in Paradise. Our goal is to provide information and help to the residents as they return and start dealing with the challenges that lie ahead. Dhara will be giving weekly meditations specifically for stress relief at the center. If you need legal help, all the information is in my article on page 32 and in the interview with Robert Kennedy Jr. We need to start holding whomever caused this responsible and a good “start” is to get financial relief for the people who lost so much. That being said, you may notice I said “start.” This is the beginning of exposing what’s “really” going on at some very deep and dark levels. I have talked with fire captains about the fact that there’s nothing normal about what is happening all over California. The question is, “If it’s not normal, then what is it?” I will tell you up front: I’m not a “conspiracy theorist.” I would call myself a “conspiracy analyst.” I’m not much for throwing theories out there on the World Wide Web that I have heard about but haven’t investigated. In the world of disinformation and misinformation that we live in it’s crucial to do the research, find documentation, and find at least two sources with impeccable credentials to validate a theory. All I want to say to all of you out there who listen to my radio show and who follow me on YouTube and Facebook is “I’m on it and will not let go. We need to know the truth no matter where it takes us.” But for now, it’s time to help and “comfort the afflicted” in our community. We would also like to remind all of you that this has been and is a formidable task for first responders, construction workers, and the men and women who work for PG&E who are working hard under the worst possible conditions to put the area back online. And we would like to thank the law enforcement who came here from all over to help safeguard properties and did this with compassion and empathy for what all of us were going through. That being said, we should all remember the people and businesses that took advantage of this situation. Much love to all of you, Dhara & Rahasya

...other than to say that PG&E seems to have played a big role in this with old and faulty equipment and from what I have seen firsthand … smart meters may also play into this … but it all needs to be investigated. It will be challenging as we rise from the ashes and as we do, we need to collaborate with ideas, reach out and help wherever we can, and maybe most important... ...maybe it’s time to dream a new dream based on love and abundance … after all, what do we have to lose at this point?

Dhara’s Guided Meditation Go With the Flow
By Dhara Lemos
I
’m happy to announce that my first Guided Meditation is available now. I’ve been teaching and giving classes on active meditation for more than 20 years. Now, for the first time and together with my friend Pam Jamian, we’ve created a guided version of my Active Meditation, making it easier to do yourself. This guided version features my narration along with accompanying music for each step in the Active Meditation. My husband, Rahasya, and I are opening the Lotus Guide Center for Healing & Information in Paradise, where I’m going to be giving the guided meditation every week. This meditation will be open to anybody who wants to join me. It is important, especially in this moment when we need so much healing, to build a strong energy field of togetherness in an atmosphere where we feel safe once again. It’s been my experience that when I meditate in a group, it becomes much more powerful than when I am alone. I had a strong experience in the ashram with a large group of people doing meditation. Upon my entering, the air was noticeably lighter. Some refer to this
8
www.lotusguide.com
phenomenon as a Buddha Field, which makes it much easier to enter the meditative state. Even on a smaller scale, such as in my home, I can see that meditation has a positive influence on those around me. I believe that this is true; if a group or a community is doing a shared meditation, it can totally affect the consciousness not only of those in the group but those in their immediate circle, because we are all interconnected through this conscious field. Some people have asked me, “How does dancing or movement play a part in meditation?” When we meditate, we become aware of our connectedness with something greater than ourselves. Dance and music were some of the first meditation forms used by earlier civilizations as a spiritual practice. Even now there are many spiritual or religious practices that still use dance and/or music as a form of meditation to tap into practitioners’ higher consciousness. From whirling dervish to Native American ceremony, and from
the dance of David to the dance of Shiva, spirit unites motion with form to bring us an experiential fusion with the divine. More recently, in the somatic and bioenergetics sciences we are seeing that
Body & Mind we hold trauma in our bodies as suppressed energy. Of course as children we knew what to do when we were frustrated by life; we jumped up and down and threw a temper tantrum. But the power figures in our lives, our parents and teachers, told us to go to our rooms and be quiet, sit still, calm down … and we did, but at a cost. And especially with a disaster such the Paradise/ Magalia Fire, we are so traumatized that we need some form of stress release so all that energy doesn’t get embodied within us and eventually become “disease.” For instance, right now, sit back and become aware of your body; you will feel that somewhere there is tension that you weren’t aware of before. This tension eventually becomes chronic if we don’t shake it off somehow and let it go. This is when active meditation, in combination with Rolfing, acupuncture, Reiki, and a long list of therapeutic work that releases and balances our energies, can help to
An Insert from the Guided Meditation There are 4 stages to this meditation – two are active and two are passive. You can do the two active stages by standing up, or if needed, sitting down. The passive meditation stages are done first sitting, then lying down. Nothing you do here can be wrong. Whatever you do will affect you positively.
release the energy that is blocked. So again I would like to invite you to come to the Lotus Guide Center and together we can create a space of healing, love, and good vibration. Let’s celebrate and go with the flow! To download this digital-CD or more info visit: DharaLemos.com
We are going to start with Chakra Sounds. We will make sound and movement in all the 7 main chakras in the body. We are going to work with the energy field of the body, so go with the flow! We will start from the root chakra and go up to the crown chakra. When we reach the crown chakra, we will do a new technique called “Back to Your Roots” to return from the crown to the root chakra so we can stay well grounded. I will guide you through every step of the way.

he first thing to say about the new Lotus Guide Center for Healing & Information is that this is not a two-person operation; this has to happen with the full involvement of the community. The Lotus Guide took a heavy hit losing stands, advertisers, and future income, but we have enough resources to open the center with the help of residents such as Marianna Love and Ray Varlinsky, who are donating the space at 6268 Skyway in Paradise. We will be moving our office there and opening up the space for Dhara’s weekly meditations to relieve stress, and with the help of the community we can offer sessions of every type, such as massage, counseling, and healing. Some of our advertisers, such as Fiona’s Forest, will be placing their products there until they can rebuild, and many will follow.
Here’s What We Need
• We will need donations, such as fresh bottled water weekly, for instance, because people coming back cannot drink the water.
• If you have a service that you believe will help and want to offer it for free or at a reduced rate, contact us. • If anyone has a connection for getting a 20-foot ocean container or a large wooden shed donated, contact us; we will need more storage. • We have already set up a GoFundMe site and PayPal where you can make donations that will directly help our advertisers who lost everything and to open and maintain the Lotus Guide Center; visit www.LotusGuide.com/CampFire for those links and the videos we took right after the fire. • We could use a few folding chairs and small folding tables. • Contact us for other items that we will need and if you want to get involved. • We will also need people to help us clean up and get ready to open to the public. We are even contemplating having an Open Mic night until the Buffalo Norton Hall is rebuilt. Since the place is right in the middle of town on Skyway it’s in an excellent location for meetings, brainstorming, and healing and information. We will keep this center going for as long as the community needs and helps us to continue, because we can’t do it by ourselves; this is a community-supported effort to make sure no one feels alone or forgotten. The other aspect of this effort is the fact that Marianna Love’s art survived the fire against all odds. The little wooden home on Honey Run was the only home that was untouched by the fire and the business location where we will be opening the Lotus Guide Center had the remaining pieces. I usually don’t believe in miracles but I have to admit that this was amazing. The artwork of a lifetime was saved … it has to be for a reason. Visit www.MariannaLoveArt.net. Come by and check it out at 6268 Skyway, Paradise, CA. If you want to contact us for donations or to help in any way, the best way is by email at info@lotusguide.com. www.lotusguide.com

The Wellness Collective:
Flowing with the Seasons
By Jane Miners
I
used to live my day-to-day life without ever thinking about the cycles of the seasons in relation to my body, mind, and spirit. I would push myself and plan in the winter, rarely taking time to rest other than normal sleep. I would just keep going and going, to the point of exhaustion, anxiety, and depression. This went on until one spring day, when I was receiving acupressure for anxiety from a wise, local woman. She began talking to me about seasons, how our bodies react to the seasons, and how most people don’t drink
12
www.lotusguide.com
enough water or allow themselves enough rest during the winter ‌ so by the time spring comes around, many people feel anxious and depleted because of the lack of nourishment, rest, and reflection. This conversation was a huge influence for the way I thought about my life. It brought a new awareness to the importance of listening to my body and the importance of honoring the seasons in our human lives. Soon after this appointment, I became aware of traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda) and how it
applies to the human body and the seasons. The main principle in Ayurveda is that each individual has a dominant nature, or body type, called a dosha. Each dosha also represents each season of the year, each season of life, and time of day. Even food contains qualities that will pacify or aggravate each dosha. From this philosophy, it is understood that we can find balance of body/mind/spirit by embracing our dominant dosha, what season of the year it is, and what foods, herbs, and spices we consume. The three dosha, Kapha, Pitta,
Body & Mind and Vata, each contain the qualities of earth, water, fire, and air. Kapha contains the qualities of earth and water; Pitta the quality of fire; and Vata the quality of air. Some individuals may have a balance of all three, or perhaps two dominant dosha, but the idea is that we contain all of these characteristics within our bodies. When we understand our nature (dominant dosha) we can identify if and when we have an imbalance, and with that awareness, we can take steps to bring balance to our systems. The ability to incorporate and embrace the change of seasons with any tradition can be helpful, and in Ayurveda, it is quite simple in many ways. We are entering a Kapha season—winter—when many of the seasonal qualities are earth and water—so with this understanding, we can eat what is in season and slow down to let our systems be nurtured. Following the natural cycle of the Earth and eating foods that are in season will help us stay healthy and feel balanced. But a saturated global market is influencing our food choices, making it possible to eat almost anything yearround—foods of all seasons are grown and
distributed throughout the year, which, in essence, has the potential to disrupt the human circadian rhythms. With a little understanding of Kapha, Pitta, and Vata, it is easy to see how even the simple act of eating out of season can affect how we feel. Yet even without the application of Ayurvedic principles, we intuitively understand Earth’s seasons and the seasons of life. When someone we love dies, it is a time for grieving and remembering. When there is a birth, it is a time of celebration. The flow of Earth’s seasons is a constant death and rebirth. No matter where on the planet you live, seasons determine temperature, rain or snowfall, and plant cycle. These cycles have long been understood, they have influenced human choices, and yet even with this understanding, we sometimes forget that our bodies, minds, and spirits also have cycles of their own. Winter is the natural time to go inward—to “hibernate.” It is a time for contemplation, reflection, and nourishment. Here in the northern hemisphere, winter is the time when watery, root vegetables are abundant (Kapha), and our bodies are nourished with these foods, our minds reflect the thoughts of what has passed, what was harvested, planted, and what
has grown or died. If we embrace each season, our bodies and minds are more likely to be in balance. In the winter, if we allow our bodies, minds, and spirits to be nourished both literally and figuratively, by the time spring/Pitta season comes, we may feel less anxious and feel rested; we may feel more motivated for the seeds we want to plant in our lives. If we can look at our lives as a metaphor of seasons and perhaps embrace our innate nature, intuition, and/or dosha, we will allow for change, foster what is good for us, and let go what is not. Seasons in our lives are events, ceremonies, disasters, and celebrations. These events naturally set into motion an opportunity for reflection, growth, and witnessing the change that has taken place. And whether we consider that change to be “good” or “bad,” just by noticing it we are honoring what has occurred and are in the natural flow of the universe. Living in harmony with the seasons is a way for us to learn patience, to practice being in the moment, and to embrace whatever is in front of us. Observing what is going on inwardly and outwardly at any given time is to flow with the cycles of life and is living in harmony with ourselves. For more information about Ayurveda or to find out your dosha, contact Jane at the Living Free Healing Center: LivingFreeHealing@gmail.com, LivingFreeHealing.Com, or 530-354-3119.

The Feminine Dimension:
Balance
By Lynn Tosello
W
omen have innate power that has been part of us from the beginning of time. But we have been taught to step aside, step back, don’t try, let the man do it, and so on, in favor of our male counterparts. Why do we possess power but ignore it? Why don’t we do something about it? In her book Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, Christiane Northrup writes, “When we change our perception, every cell of our bodies changes. We then begin to see how we have been influencing and perpetuating our own problems.” It’s time for a change in perception. It’s time to step up and express the feminine dimension. We can’t keep blaming men. We have to see our own part in what is out of balance in our lives.
14
www.lotusguide.com
It’s true that we have been living in a male-dominated culture for at least 3,000 to 5,000 years. It’s hard to break a habit that has been going on for so long, though it is breaking. Over the past century or so in the West, women’s rights have been recognized in our laws, but not always in our behavior. As Dr. Northrup suggests, the behavior we (both men and women) have allowed and encouraged has indeed perpetuated the very problems that we rail against in our societal behaviors. But the time has arrived cosmically for women’s expanding roles, for our increasing awareness, and for age-old problems to be solved from the feminine dimension. Because of the long history of male dominance, our relatively recent
reemergence into equality has been conditional. As women have moved into the workforce in nearly every part of the economy, we have found that the more we asserted the masculine aspects of our abilities and were like
Body & Mind “one of the boys,” the more readily we were accepted into the mainstream, the better we “fit in.” This has created an imbalance in ourselves; as we have stepped into the male-model workplace, we have found ourselves in competition with (both male and female) coworkers—because that is the structure of business “as usual.” Women have had to take up the “sword” and put on the “armor” of the workplace. This mantle of warlike competition and performance causes stress— in women and in men. This is not new. One need only observe the “unwinding” rituals men and women engage in after work to see this. The natural state of female humans is not competition, but cooperation— the experienced helping the inexperienced to be comfortable and to understand. In business language, the elder helping the younger is a “mentor” relationship, which can be
one of advising, or shepherding through the career maze. Tara Mohr, author of Playing Big, says traditional mentoring entails a “hierarchical relationship” and modern women prefer “mutually
fully express who and what we are—to actualize our whole beingness—many of us are engaging in businesses that provide the nurturance and safety to do so. More and more, we women are expressing our feminine dimension helping each other to be greater—to fledge, fly, and soar. Blossoming feminine energy is bringing balance to our modern culture, as men are discovering that it resides in them, too. It’s all very natural. As the pendulum swings back from extremes, our world will be more calm, more peaceful, and will once more express the equality and cooperation that was the original design. We’re in this life together. After all these centuries of imbalance, it’s time to broaden and embrace both dimensions, allowing men and women to work together, in balance, on common ground.

Maintaining the Energy of Your Soul
By Annie Fuller
I
magine being in the center of a large, multilayered bubble. I’m sure you’ve experienced this. When you’re in a pristine place in nature, don’t you feel expansive? When you’re frightened or angry, isn’t the contraction almost claustrophobic? This is your soul breathing.
16
www.lotusguide.com
The soul is situated in the center of our chests, in what I call the “heart/ soul space.” It radiates out and encircles the body. Composed of refined and heavy energies, soul serves as a container for spirit and as a protector of our human selves. It’s a living library consisting of all we, as spirit, need to resolve and complete in this lifetime. Energy within the landscape of the soul, from the outer edge and inward, reflects and mirrors through the layers and manifests in our physical, emotional, and energetic bodies. Other names for soul are aura and human energy field. The Q’ero, descendants of the Inka, call soul the “energy bubble.” They classify energy in two specific ways—refined, or sami, and heavy, or hucha. Hucha shows up in our lives as unhappiness and illness. Ideally, our energy bubbles are full of sami, for the
more sami within one’s soul, the healthier and happier a person is. What makes hucha? Anger, jealousy, judgment, sarcasm, disappointment, sorrow, shame, suffering, fear, and frustration are a few possibilities. Soul loss is another, for when parts of the soul are missing, hucha fills the empty spaces. We’re human. It’s normal for emotions and survival experiences to create heavy energy. Some of us try to dissipate the hucha of a loved one by taking it on ourselves. The problem is that the person we’re trying to help might feel comfortable for a few minutes, but we’re stuck with the energy. Children do this. They want harmony in the family, so when their parents are fighting they try to resolve things by taking on the heavy energy. Later they have a tantrum, for unknown to everyone, they’ve gotten
Special Interest lost in their parents’ hucha. A tantrum is a child’s way to release uncomfortable feelings and heavy energy that aren’t theirs. Have you ever become lost in hucha and lashed out? When there’s too much in our bubble, we don’t feel ourselves. Hucha lodged within the soul often builds upon itself and attracts or grows more. This can be detrimental to our health. Because soulular energy eventually manifests on the emotional and physical, hucha can become psychiatric problems, tumors, growths, and varieties of illness. A person afraid of intimacy might energetically close his or her heart to feel safe. Years of this practice grows hucha, and the stuck energy might one day manifest as a heart attack. Autoimmune diseases are not uncommon in people with excessive soul loss, for too much heavy energy fills the spaces where soul parts should be. This is why we want to pay attention and maintain the energy of our soul/bubble. It’s easy. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply in through your nose and out your mouth. Take time to settle into your body. When you’re settled, begin to center. Inhale through your heart/soul space, and exhale out your entire body. In and out. Fill your body and soul with your fullness of self. Centered? Now ground. Breathe in through your heart/soul, and imagine a cord
moving down from there, through your body, and out your first chakra (between your legs). Continue growing this cord through the floor beneath you and into the depths of Mother Earth. You’ll have a different experience each time you ground.
State an intention to release your heavy energy. You don’t have to know where it’s situated. Breathe in, and exhale it down and out, through your cord and entire body, into Pachamama/Mother Earth. Take your time. Let it all go. When you’re complete, breathe Pachamama’s empowered sami up through your cord, and exhale it through your center into your body and soul. You’ll have lots of room. Fill your bubble with refined energy all the way to its outer golden edges. Finished? Enjoy the
feeling of being centered, grounded, and full of sami. You might even be smiling. Energy is always in a cycle of transmutation. The Q’ero say that when beings of the upper world release their hucha, we, in this middle world, receive it as sami. Pachamama is a heavy energy eater, digester, and transformer. She receives our hucha and offers it as sami for the beings in the lower worlds. We are spirit within soul within body. Our physical and emotional health depends upon our being centered, grounded, whole, and connected to both our bodies and the Earth. When we take a few minutes each day to do this exercise—in the morning, before bed, or any time the need arises— we’re consciously maintaining our energetic health. This helps us feel solid. Empowered. Our unique, energetic selves. If you don’t feel whole or you have a chronic medical or emotional condition, consider soul retrieval. This ancient ceremony restores vital sami and oftentimes resolves the original disease. The landscape of our souls affects our entire human experience. STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION & Energy Medicine
By Jean Louise Green
I
’ve been a lifelong seeker and connector of dots and I am so grateful to have found structural integration. I rate it as one of my top three life experiences. Not only does it give me a comfortable body to live in, it has also provided me with a profession that offers constant meaningful connection with people. I hear words such as “I almost feel reborn! I am in awe! These muscles are moving again!” Experiences like this happen daily on structural integration tables around the world. For decades, I’ve studied this bodywork in its depth and subtlety. Structural Integration and Energy Medicine: A Handbook of Advanced Bodywork is the culmination of my years of experience as a practitioner and recipient of structural integration.
18
www.lotusguide.com
This book is laced with stories of people I’ve worked with and how their bodies and lives have changed as a result. It is also filled with wisdom of many master teachers, particularly Dr. Ida P. Rolf. Despite the fact that structural integration is done in a series of 10 sessions, there is only so much time to address the physical body and educate the client. So I rose to the call to create this practical structural integration handbook. My intention was to capture the brilliance of Dr. Rolf’s ideas and present the nuts and bolts of her work in a way that would become a guide for both clients and practitioners. I’m also excited to share my energetic experience of the line. Dr. Rolf said that gravity could become a beneficial force. What exactly did she mean by that? I have quested deeply around those words. I challenge practitioners, clients, and other bodyworkers to experience the energetic aspect of the line in a way that might be new to them. An Owner’s Manual I liken this book to an owner’s manual for the body. We live in a gravitational field and what the structure of our
bodies is doing in relation to that field matters! During my training to become a practitioner, I had one of those lifechanging Rolfing/SI experiences. I felt the support of the Earth in an entirely new way. When my pelvis was restored to its natural horizontal position, my body dropped into the support of the Earth and I sensed a lift moving up through my body. I could sit, stand, kneel, and run comfortably again. No longer was my body struggling against gravity. This experience of the power of alignment in a relaxed body is one of the many wonderful possibilities of structural integration. When biophysicist James Oschman first read my manuscript, he commented, “I really like what I am reading. You have captured the
Body & Mind essence of Rolfing/SI in a clear way that I have not seen before. I have needed this book for a long time. It is delicious!” In his foreword for the book, he followed up with “An awareness of the concepts presented in this book can benefit anyone, and can also enhance the work of all health care practitioners. The reason for such a bold claim is simple: all healing methodologies and practices affect anatomical balance, whether or not one realizes or intends it. The mechanism: all of the systems in the body are interconnected. Bringing balance to any one system affects all of the others.” This book is designed for practitioners and clients of structural integration/Rolfing. It will also be of service to a wide range of bodywork professionals such as myofascial release therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, craniosacral therapists, certified massage therapists, reflexologists, and yoga and Pilates instructors. Readers will be introduced to an advanced understanding of the effects of the gravitational pull on the body and the structural and energetic aspects of structural integration. An Educational Handbook Structural Integration and Energy Medicine provides clients with a handbook that will help maximize the benefits of their structural integration process. Part I includes an introduction to
Dr. Ida P. Rolf, the energetics of the line, and information on connective tissue and the emerging science around it. Part II includes illustrations that detail each of the 10 sessions and their psychoemotional Hellerwork theme. Part III provides support tools to minimize putting stress and strain back into the body. They include the role of nutrition, electromagnetic healing devices, meditation, and the five Tibetan yogic exercises. Readers are introduced to the principles of structural integration, its history and founder, and why it matters. Difficult concepts, such as the line, rotation patterns, and the torus are expressed clearly and simply. Practitioners will expand their knowledge and learn to articulate these concepts for their clients. The general public may find answers for health challenges through this systematic, yet personalized, hands-on approach to healing. This book explains how rotation patterns contribute to pain, and how correcting them may eliminate the need for hip and knee replacements. When the body’s structure is optimally aligned, gravity can flow through and become a beneficial force. Pain, inflammation, and degeneration may be reduced. Likewise, mental clarity and the flow of energy in the body may become enhanced.
Pioneers such as Dr. Rolf, and the many excellent teachers and practitioners influenced by her work, know how malleable the body/ mind really are. The general public is learning what is possible through the complementary healing arts. It is a privilege to share my contribution of this deep body wisdom with people across the world. Thank you. Hey Tree, What Should I Be? By Josh Shelton ISBN-13: 978-1-91255-138-5 (Conscious Dreams Publishing, 2018)
It’s long overdue for an update on what I see as some of the finest work done by Alan Watts. I’m older now so I’m able to “get it” … I think. How do you understand the paradox of life that’s deeply embedded in the very nature we are part of? You can have more by desiring less and do more by doing less. When I first heard these statements from Alan Watts I thought he was “out of his mind,” only to find out much later in life it was because I was not “out of my mind.” As it has been said, “The heart knows reason that reason knows not.” This book is speaking to a new level of consciousness that we all seek.
I thought it would be tough for an adult such as myself to review a book for kids but I was wrong. The way we unthinkingly allow our children to be indoctrinated to “be someone” at a very early age is obviously not working out. By not allowing our kids the time and freedom to simply “be” we are robbing generations of the ability to be imaginative and creative thinkers. This little book also hits home with adults by pointing out that we are constantly changing, and with the recent events in Paradise, California, we know the future is a mystery, to say the least. For an all-too-short brief moment … I was a kid again.

Fight Parkinson’s and Huntington’s with Vitamins and Antioxidants By Kedar N. Prasad, PhD ISBN-13: 978-1-62055-433-3 (Healing Arts Press, 2016)
It’s very easy to miss the point while reading this book because we are so used to fighting the symptoms of diseases. Far too often the advancement of Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease happens under the radar, only to show up later in life with a long list of side effects from the drugs taken to cover up the symptoms. If you have these diseases you owe it to yourself to get educated. Done in conjunction with your normal treatment plan, the advice in this book will take everything you are doing to a whole new level. Dhara Lemos, Lotus Guide
Ecstatic Soul Retrieval: Shamanism and Psychotherapy By Nicholas E. Brink, PhD ISBN-13: 978-1-59143-261-6 (Bear & Company, 2017)
It’s encouraging to see shamanism entering the academic world with all of its resources and background. Shamanism has always played a part in the psychological evolution of cultures, except for Western civilization, which is on the brink of collapse because of a detachment from the very nature we are part of. This detachment shows up as everything from mental illness to a myriad of psychosomatic diseases that plague our society. This book is definitely an East-meets-West scenario that allows both to step into a new symbiotic relationship adapted to the 21st century. Dhara Lemos, Lotus Guide

This book really spoke to me because when it came time to put away an addiction in my life, I shuddered to think that I would spend the rest of my life saying, “Just for today. …” Without a deeper spiritual connection and doing the hard work of being in the present moment, you might be able to “just say no” but if everything in you is saying “yes” you will live out a life of inner conflict that breeds anger, contempt, and unconsciousness. My wife and I wrote a book called The 12 Spiritual Laws of Recovery and Meditations for the 12 Step Program and the few people who bought swore by it, but this path is not for the faint of heart. Solutions to Our Mess By Jack Allis
I
nternet talk radio has become a hugely popular alternative to the mainstream brainwash news; it’s where free speech lives and where there is a far greater likelihood you will find the truth. Coast to Coast AM with George Noorey and the Alex Jones Show are two of the best, leading the way in the exposé of the truth about our world that has long been hidden, including extraterrestrial intelligence and the New World Order conspiracy. Lotus Guide’s own Rahasya Poe also does a superb job of digging up the truth in his articles and radio show. As of this writing, I understand that Alex Jones is under attack and in danger of being shut down by what he refers to as “the deep state.” But that is another issue. Yes, the truth is being revealed and lots of people are tuning in. However, something essential is missing from all the alternative dialogue on the Internet. That is solutions for us as freedomloving individuals to the mess we find ourselves in today. It serves no purpose to know the truth if the truth leads to a bad place where you don’t want to be and you don’t do anything about it. If it’s true that members of a global elite are deceiving and manipulating humanity into a New World Order, and if they are in cahoots with ETs in any way, then
22

we, the human race, are facing an enemy with apparently invincible powers, and the challenge to free ourselves from their matrix of bondage is monumental, beyond David versus Goliath. And make no mistake about it—this is a war, a war to free ourselves and our planet. There is only one way out of this mess and that is to start thinking about deriving our power from other sources. This is where we can learn from our sisters and brothers from indigenous traditions spanning the globe, including virtually all the Native American tribes. The Native Americans in the 19th century faced the same enemy we face today, and that is a civilization intent upon destroying the Earth and any people who get in the way. These indigenous people had a vitally important message for us. They told us that these were times of paradigm shift, in which one world comes to its inevitable end, creating the opportunity to create a new world from its ashes. And they told us there was only one way to survive and to create the new world, and that was by returning to a way of life that is sustainable, in small communities, and in harmony with nature and her laws. In other words, we must begin to live like the Hopi or the Maya or the Kogi. People may not want to hear this, but there is no other way. “Impossible,” you might say. People just aren’t ready for that. That may be. But it is not impossible. The indigenous people of planet Earth show us a model, living this way for thousands, dare I say hundreds of thousands, of years before their extermination by white civilization. And there are some of us who are living this way now, in remote locations, off the grid, with independent sources of spring water and energy, learning how to reassume complete responsibility for our lives. We are preparing for the
Special Interest paradigm shift that was prophesied. The old-paradigm civilized world is going to crash and die, as it must because it is so hideously out of balance with nature. And time is running out. The collapse of the old paradigm will be a grave hardship for those who are not prepared. However, if our top priority is creating the new world, then the collapse of the old paradigm is a good thing. Remember—the old paradigm is the enemy. It is a system built upon deceit and manipulation, a matrix of illusion that enslaves us physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is the cause of all the problems in the world. And as long as it’s in place, it is the single greatest impediment to meaningful change. However, people need not panic. It isn’t necessary to quit your job and head for the hills with no plan. There are things everybody can do right away to begin to prepare and make the necessary changes. The first is to wake up from the spell this matrix casts over us. Then we must let go of this dependency system as much as possible and begin to learn how to take responsibility for our lives again. Once enough of us let go, the system will wilt and die. Our small sustainable communities will also be built on the same spiritual foundation as our indigenous
relations and derived from the same source, which is the loving relationship we have with Mother Earth and all of nature. This is one of the places we find spirit. This too will be a crucial source of our power. Our connection with spirit and with the spirit world gives us a power that is greater, a power that is supernatural, which means not of this world, and with no logical explanation. If we are to persevere in this monumental challenge, we are going to need help from these kinds of forces. When the Native Americans were finally conquered at the end of the 19th century, they were forbidden to practice their native spirituality because the white man understood the power it carried. People need to do more than wake up to the truth about our world. They need to take action, and they need to change. If this truth leads to the conclusion that we’re screwed, then there is a choice to be made. Either accept the way things are and make the best of a terrible situation, in which case knowing the truth means nothing. Or choose to play your part in trying to change this terrible situation. 10 Things That May Be Making You Tired … and What to Do
O
ur immune system is nothing short of a miracle. We are exposed to thousands of different types of toxins in daily life and relatively few take hold in our system. That’s because our immune system can adapt and fight the invaders off most of the time until it can’t fight them off anymore … and then we get sick. When our natural defenses can no longer keep up, it creates fertile ground to fatigue our immunity to the point that it’s in a chronic state of overdrive, working to protect our body from the daily load of toxic exposure. This becomes the hidden condition for nefarious organisms to thrive and is often an overlooked cause of feeling “tired all the time.” In a healthy body, our brain is able to accurately identify and correct what is stressing our immune system. However, if we have hidden stressors
26
www.lotusguide.com
such as low-grade viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and parasites—to name a few—our brain may not be able to accurately identity the stressor because of being overworked, malnourishment, or aging. It’s like the stressor goes underground and falls off the immune system’s radar screen. While our immune system still works valiantly to respond, it may not be effective at providing the barrier to the invader any more. So, even if your body is not directly engaged with some sort of “dis-ease” in your system, the fact that it is present still requires an immunesystem response. This is how you may be experiencing a continual drain on your body’s resources without even knowing it. To reverse this pathway, we provide a treatment that works to help your immune system manage, quarantine, or kill the microorganisms, thereby improving the chances of restoring health and increasing
longevity. Our treatment enhances the brain (autonomic nervous system) and immune system to recognize what’s hidden and then to stimulate the body’s defenses against these long-term, chronic, low- grade stressors. Here is an illustration of the factors that drain our energy on this page and factors that recharge us on the next. Things That May Be Draining Your Immune System Battery
Body & Mind Things That Recharge Your Immune System Battery
Three Reasons for Weakened Immunity When our immune system becomes malnourished, excessively stressed, and/or simply ages over time, our bodies become vulnerable. While our immunity may become weak for other reasons, such as medications or longterm diseases, here are the causes we see in our clinic more closely. (See also “Healing after Tragedy.” on next page) 1. Malnourishment undermines the immune system big time. Almost 70 percent of all immune system cells are in the linings of the small and large intestines! While the immune system is intricately involved in most matters of the body because it’s ubiquitous, it’s affected the most by digestive problems. Our greatest exposure to harmful chemical and bacteria from the outside world is through the food we eat. This explains the correlation between
impact on our immune system, lesser-known stressors that are hidden but may be causing health problems are allergies, pathogenic organisms, toxins, and physiological functions. These conditions create a continuous signal for help from the immune system. This in turn places a continuous excess burden because the brain has lost its ability to identify it and take care of it.
people with compromised immune systems or chronic illnesses and digestive problems. Restoring your body’s ability to nourish itself is key to restoring your immune system for many reasons. If we are not able to digest key food groups such as fat and protein, our bodies are not able to repair tissues and provide the essential fuel for the immune system to perform its daily functions. Allergies, food sensitivities, and food intolerances can also play havoc with our immune system because it creates a permeable gut lining that opens up the pathways to bacteria, viruses, and parasites entering the vascular system, placing even more of a burden on the immune system. 2. Excessive stress can be typical psychological stessors that occur in everyday life such as relationships, work, and financial issues. While any type of “outside” stress has an
3. Over time it is not uncommon for our immune system to become dysregulated. As with other parts of our bodies, the immune system ages as we age. Functional imbalances probably had been affecting the body for years if not decades before chronic illness takes hold. Our bodies adapt—borrowing resources from one part of the body to support the deficiency of another—sometimes significantly. But chronic adaptation has its price—fatigue and then failure. It’s like driving on a flat tire. Left unintended, significant future damage will occur. What You Can Do Here at the Allergy and Digestive Relief Center, we understand how frustrating a journey to feeling better can be. Many patients have come to us over the years and now feel better after discovering that we work to fix the causes, not cure the symptoms. Once we are able to identify the stressors, we open the body’s path to communication again so that it can do what it does best—heal itself.

Just to be clear, daily fatigue or lethargy is not normal. Being treated for these hidden stressors could be the missing piece in your treatment of feeling tired all the time or simply not feeling well. Healing after Tragedy Of course the 11th thing that could be causing us to feel tired on top of everything else is the stress we are all experiencing from the recent Camp Fire. For many of us this may be the biggest stressor of all. Our entire community is—and will be—under emotional and physical stress for some time. It is important to note that emotional stress is as much, or more, of a drain on the immune system than physical stress. Taking care of both physical and emotional stressors is essential to the healing process. For example, many of us respond to stress with an unhealthy change in eating habits, such as forgetting to eat, eating too much, eating poorly, or eating too quickly. This places an additional burden on the digestive system that may already be overtaxed. Think PTSD in the stomach. It’s in the most stressful times that we need to double down on taking better care of ourselves. Ways to recharge your ability to deal with all the issues facing you is to increase the time you focus on taking good care of yourself. Do as many of the things as you can to recharge the immune system (as shown on the green battery illustration). With everything we are going through, no one needs the added stress of getting sick this year.

Tune in to KZFR 90.1, where “Ask Dr. Gayle” broadcasts 6-7pm the second Thursday of each month. Q: How can I process so much loss, so much tragedy caused by the November Camp Fire in Butte County? A: It’s a reminder of what the Buddha taught about acceptance of impermanence, including our own mortality. Don Juan said in Carlos Castaneda’s books that we should live as if death is always over our left shoulders. This reinforces the understanding that what’s important is not material but loving kindness. Rebecca Solnit’s book Paradise Built in Hell reports that disasters such as ours and Hurricane Katrina bring out altruism in people. We see so many people doing what they could to help the survivors of the most disastrous fire in California history, not only locally but from far away. Thousands of brewers across the country joined the local Sierra Nevada campaign for brewers to sell Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and give 100 percent of the sales to the Camp Fire Relief Fund. My hope is that Paradise rebuilds as a green planned community. The thousands of evacuees need good listeners to hear their stories, including people who feel survivors’ guilt. Healing trauma involves gradually facing the loss and fear, feeling, releasing, and reframing that is enabled by a caring listener. (See the Michael Reddy video on my YouTube channel for more on healing trauma.
Q: When I need to learn new material, sometimes I get overloaded and my brain freezes. What can I do? A: When we get stressed, we get unbalanced, what’s called “homolateral” instead of healthy “bilateral” alignment. We feel fuzzy brained, clumsy, out of sorts. To correct, use Brain Gym or Donna Eden’s energy medicine exercises to cross over the midline of the body. A favorite is the cross-crawl in which you touch opposite elbow to knee. Look at your arm as it crosses over, so your eyes also cross over. Also, drink plenty of water. To think clearly, put your hand on your forehead with the intention of bringing blood to the neocortex away from the reactive amygdala in the midbrain. You can also use the Brain Gym “Brain Buttons” shown on YouTube. Q: Sometimes I’ll think of something and it happens, as in when the person I have on my mind calls me. How does this work? A: Visionary psychoanalyst Carl Jung developed the concept of synchronicity when his patient was describing a dream about a scarab beetle and a similar beetle appeared on the window. In his readable and scientific book Mind to Matter: The Astonishing Science of How Your Brain Creates Material Reality (2018), Dawson Church gives many more examples in his chapter on synchronicity (as does Eben Alexander in Living in a Mindful Universe). Dawson quotes Jung’s definition: “Synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence of two or more events, where something other than the probability of
chance is involved.” As we center on a spiritual path it happens more often, as many of the visionary scientists told me. For example, after finishing a chakra balancing at our free Wednesday evening sessions, I told David that he should phone his mother because she was anxious about something. A few minutes later he told me he had a text from her saying she was worried about her back pain. I read a novel that defined luck as being in the flow and bad luck as stepping out of the current of higher consciousness. Meditation, exercise, and looking at challenges as opportunity for growth keep us in the flow. Q: I’m dealing with an irritatingly bossy coworker. How can I be assertive without creating an ongoing battle? A: I find understanding personality types useful. For perspective on this person, read about Enneagram Type Eight, the challenger who needs to be in control. Psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich observed five defensive mechanisms people use to protect themselves: Your colleague is the type who projects controlling energy onto other people. Others try to do things right and be good, another type escapes—we would call them spacey. Another protects with extra fat or muscle. Think about your type and how the types might interact. Try repeating a neutral statement such as, “Thanks for your input but it may be more effective for me to do my job this way.” Stick to it without getting pulled into an argument. If it’s a boss, you could suggest a trial run of your plan to see if it’s best for the workplace. Ram Dass reminded us, “Everything changes once we identify with being the witness to the story rather than the actor in it,” so try to view the drama as if you are watching a play rather than reacting emotionally.

Fasting: A Forgotten Approach to Chronic Disease natural foods, fresh foods, and no food. Feel free to step in and out of the target zones on your journey to robust health.
By Michael Turk
A
s modern society puts more demands on our physical and mental well-being, we often turn to food, alcohol, and drugs with numerous side effects to temporarily suppress the side effects and to numb the pain. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “More than 40% of all US opioid overdose deaths in 2016 involved prescription opioids, with more than 46 people dying every day from overdoses involving prescription opioids.” Moreover, according to the State of Obesity, it is estimated that by 2020, 36.5% of Americans will be overweight. What If We Could Relieve Chronic Pain with a Natural and Holistic Approach That Saves Money? Medically supervised fasting with Chinese herbs, dating back to practices from 500 AD, is a proven place to start. Fasting not only allows one to explore foods and herbs that the body needs now to support the healing process but it also leads to a sense of calmness through the body and mind. Four Target Zones for Optimal Health The four target zones are modern foods,
30
www.lotusguide.com
Food Elimination Target: Zoning In on Health 1. Eat more pure, healthy, and natural foods—avoid modern foods manufactured with chemicals, especially sugar. 2. Eat more living and cultured, fresh foods— avoid starchy foods; eliminate dry goods, especially grains and beans. 3. Eat nothing— fast from all food, no food—no carbohydrates, oils, or protein; take only tonic herbs and other supplements (vitamins, minerals, and medicinal oils) during the three daily health breaks. 4. Enjoy it all and then just cleanse by living closer to the center—zeroing in on vitality. The program includes 10-minute “health breaks, three times a day.” Chinese food-grade herbs called tonic herbs can be tailored to the individual’s chronic conditions. Long-term benefits accumulate from tonic herbs when they supplement a
meal or completely replace food during a total fast. Some tonic herbs satisfy hunger. To identify harmful foods or food zones, avoid the questionable foods from your diet for 10 days. After it is out of your gut, reintroduce it to test for irritation. After fasting from an outer zone for a few days, the colon is cleansed of not just the food but parasites living on that food. The blood is cyclically cleansed every 30-40 days because of the lifespan of red and white blood cells and the gradual replacement of serum. Essentially, by changing your food, you are changing your gut, your blood, and your state of well-being. Fasting is a successful anti-inflammatory that can lead to chronic disease reversal and weight loss, along with easily expelling parasites and naturally aiding detoxification. My patients report they experience more energy, without sugar cravings and hunger. Sound Too Good to Be True? The nutrients from Chinese tonic herbs supplement and replace food. It is the easiest way to fast from all food. This promotes repair and regeneration. First, the body lives off stored starch, sugar, and
Body & Mind finally fat, while it recycles diseased and dead tissue. So how can you get started? Follow These Three Easy Steps to a Total Fast: 1. Start by eliminating modern manufactured junk food; upgrade to natural and health foods (as a guideline: five ingredients or fewer that you can actually pronounce). 2. Next, remove “natural” packaged foods; upgrade to fresh, living, and cultured foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, and yogurt. 3. Last, fast from all foods: Remove carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. To prepare for a one-day total fast, take tonic herbs and eat fresh food for 30 days before starting your first one-day fast. I do not recommend two consecutive days or more of total fasting without previous experience, guidance, and support. Abstaining from all foods allows the body, mind, and emotions to discover the power of nothing. Herbal fasting is simple with the guidance of an
experienced natural-health-care provider. Besides me, there are several other good practitioners in Chico who can facilitate in fasting. Three Additional Tips to Take Charge of Your Gut after Your First Month of Limited Fasting: 1. Eating on the Run: For convenience’s sake, many people do this, replacing water with sugary drinks. It can be detrimental to your health and mental well-being. Take a break from the chaos of life. Be conscientious when you eat and drink. Enjoy a meal with friends and family instead of at your desk. 2. “Treat Foods”: Yes, they are allowed and encouraged. The human metabolic system is exercised and becomes stronger when you feast and fast. 3. Life’s Pressure: When you feel your life getting out of control and pain creeping back, take a step back.
Caution: While fasting has been proven to improve health and longevity, discharge symptoms and the feeling of a healing crisis may occur during repair and regeneration periods of fasting. These physical and mental feelings can be managed by self-therapy and professional medically supervised bodywork, massage, moxibustion, and acupuncture. ou might want to sit down and take a deep breath because I’m in a rare mood right now, as I’m sure most of you are since the recent Paradise/Magalia/Concow wildfire experience. As horrendous a time as this has been, it has created a window of opportunity to do something really amazing in this area that will inspire generations to come. I know this is easy to say as I sit here in my home, food in my stomach, and a fire in the fireplace, but trust me, I feel your loss deeply and want justice in the form of finances and immediate help. My wife and partner, Dhara, and I will be doing everything possible to be there for you, which is why we are opening the Lotus Guide Center for Healing & Information in association with LOVE’S VIBRANT ART in the heart of Paradise with the help of Marianna Love
32
www.lotusguide.com
and Ray Varlinsky, who have donated the use of their business space. The fact that Marianna Love’s art made it through the fire is as close to a miracle as you can get. As I stood in front of the little wood home that was Marianna Love’s studio for so many years on Honey Run in Paradise where most of her art was stored and realized it was the only home to make it, I
glanced over to a little sign that said, “Protected By Angels” and maybe it was. The videos that we took right after the fire are very revealing for the trained eye; there are many anomalies to say the least. But what touched me more than anything was to see some small decorative piece of art that survived on someone’s fence, a toy scorched in the ashes, walking with reverence through a family’s lifetime of possessions and dreams all in ashes. When the profoundness of the situation hits you … well, let’s just say that it’s impossible to really wrap your head around what happened here. I remember sitting on a burned-out car thinking of how bad things were when it occurred to me, “Thank goodness this didn’t happen at 2 in the morning; there would be many thousands of people missing and dead.”
Rahasya Uncensored Look, there’s a lot to this that I would like to get into, such as why don’t we have loud sirens like they have in third world countries for emergencies? Why did PG&E seem to know this was going to happen? Why was so much money spent on advertising that it (PG&E) was going
of this very thing and paid dearly to do so. You have to ask yourself, why is it that most of the people we call our heroes were assassinated, ridiculed, martyred, or imprisoned? Why is it that it’s a crime to expose a crime? Why is it that even now I feel a slight apprehension speaking of
to do maintenance and upgrades but failed to even upgrade the tower built in 1919 that fell over, allegedly causing the fire? This will eventually all come out. It’s come time that we realize that we are at the end of a very dark, dishonest, and desperate time in our history, fighting endless wars that do nothing more than enrich the international bankers and rob countries of their natural resources and leaves all of us further in debt to the Federal Reserve. Our agencies that were traditionally set up to protect us, such as the CDC and FDA, are little more than public relations for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries now. We need to start speaking out and paying attention to the people in our past who warned us
these things? Franklin Roosevelt once told a friend that there were powers within the government so ruthless that when you speak about them you dare not speak above a whisper for fear of retribution. The answer to these questions and others will admittedly take you kicking and screaming into a place where you might feel uncomfortable but this is part of the adventure, and if you are reading this article it’s probably because you have realized that it’s time for good people to stand up and do something regardless of the cost. I remember sitting in the schoolyard having lunch when it came over the intercom: “President Kennedy has just been assassinated.” Little did I know
at that young age what really happened but over the years it has become clear. John F. Kennedy was a master at revealing the truth and here’s what he said once … just before he was assassinated, I might add. “The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings.” Then he goes on to say, “For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence—on infiltration instead of invasion. ... It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.” There were many times when JFK called on journalists to go out and actually investigate and report the news but the subversion of our media by the very ruthless corporations he was warning us about has made that request fade into history. This is why we have “independent” media that most of us get our news from now, but even that has been diluted with disinformation and trolls. Remember, Kennedy took over from President Eisenhower, who exhausted all of his political chips to say this in his farewell speech, “Now this conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence—economic, political, even spiritual—is felt in every city,
www.lotusguide.com
33
every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet, we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources, and livelihood are all involved. So is the very structure of our society. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.” What many people don’t realize is in that farewell speech President Eisenhower also warns against the advanced technology and the influence it will have on the unsuspecting public by the elites. Where do you think this explosion of technology came from? Do you think we all just woke up in the 1940s and ’50s and became super intelligent? How much does advanced technology have to do with all these “wildfires”? The answer to that will have to wait for a different time; right now the time for helping people in need is upon us. I recently did a face-to-face interview with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., which was an extreme honor to do even
34
www.lotusguide.com
under these circumstances. He and the law firm he works with have been fighting the hard fight for some time; they recently won the big lawsuit against Monsanto, which made all of Monsanto’s suppressed
science public. You can watch that interview online at LotusGuide.com/ CampFire. When I posted it on YouTube many of you asked why he didn’t answer me when I brought up “directed energy weapons.” I think what’s important here and now is to be able to go to court and hold PG&E and others responsible and to do that will require the right charges being brought against them, such as negligence for one. I know many of you think that making PG&E financially responsible is a distraction from what’s really going on, but think about it, the state of California is taking a company that’s
owned, at least in part, by Rothschild Inc. to court. This is a major pushback against a family with a dark past… this is what I meant in the editorial by this being a good start. On one of my next radio shows I will be talking about the possibility of directed energy weapons (DEWs) and geoengineering playing a part in the California wildfires. At this point I haven’t done enough investigation to comment other than to say that PG&E seems to have played a big role in this with old and faulty equipment and from what I have seen firsthand … smart meters may also play into this … but it all needs to be investigated. One thing is for sure, we need to think differently when it comes to our forests in Northern California and stay on top of it, because this would be an opportune time for the lumber mills to come in and take down our forests instead of selective harvesting of the wood and putting in fire breaks. Let’s start being “proactive” and not waiting to be “reactive” when all we can do is run like hell. In closing I would like to say that, even though my optimism may
Rahasya Uncensored not be warranted, I am nevertheless optimistic about the future, not only of Paradise, but the world itself. It will be challenging as we rise from the ashes and as we do, we need to collaborate with ideas, reach out and help wherever we can, and maybe most important, remember that the world we live in is of our own creation, mostly based on fear and scarcity—maybe it’s time to dream a new dream based on love and abundance … after all, what do we have to lose at this point? “Some men see things as they are and say, why; I dream things that never were and say, why not.” -Robert F. Kennedy NOTE: I think this is as far as I feel comfortable taking you without knowing you and preparing you because as you investigate the reality we live in, trust me, your whole perception of what is real will unravel like an old worn-out shirt. If you do a lot of driving, I highly suggest the audio versions when available.

Interview with Robert Kennedy Jr. on the Camp Fire in Paradise, Magalia, and Concow Lotus Guide: I heard you went up there to Paradise to take a look this morning. Robert Kennedy Jr: It was shocking. LG: It’s totally shocking, and I think that’s what people are going to realize as they move back into the area. This is why my wife and I want to open the Lotus Guide Center for Healing & Information, because as the people start rolling back in they’re going to need support when they realize what they’re up against. RK: Yes, there’s no water lines or sewer lines, the infrastructure is pretty much gone, and it’s hard to imagine how people are going to rebuild there. LG: We are definitely in uncharted territory; this has never happened before to this extent where a community has lost most of its homes and businesses in a matter of a few hours and is left with an infrastructure that’s basically nonexistent. RK: I’m not even sure how they’re going to do it because there’s actually no tax base for the community at this point. LG: We’re going to be working very
36
www.lotusguide.com
closely with the Butte County Small Business Development Center and the Paradise Chamber of Commerce because the people don’t want to move back up until the business is here and the businesses don’t want to move back up until the people are here so it’s going to take some well-thought-out planning. RK: This morning we visited an antique shop that had been in business 10 or 20 years and everything that they had is gone; how do you replace antiques and restart a business like that? LG: I think at this point we need to get comfortable with saying, “I don’t know.” I was driving around taking videos of Paradise and really taking the time to see that these are the ashes that were left behind of families that are now living in tents. This is why we’re so happy to see that you are here because at this point what’s important is helping the families that have been displaced. Something has to be done to make those who were responsible for this be held accountable. So what is the plan? RK: We’re doing a number of things. For one we’re helping people pro bono and I’m working with Bob Hedlund, which is
the law firm I partnered with last summer and won the lawsuit against Monsanto for $289 million. This same firm has on its staff some of the best fire investigators and attorneys in the country. In the short term anybody in this area that needs help with their FEMA applications and their insurance forms, we’re offering our services to help pro bono. For people who decide they want or have a claim against Pacific Gas & Electric or some of the other people who are responsible, we will be filing a mass action, not class action, but mass torts for people who were underinsured and for things that aren’t covered with insurance, like evacuation, loss of pets, which in California you can now sue for personal injury, not just for the market cost of your pet. Also for the loss of income that insurance can’t cover. LG: One of the good things about the Monsanto case, for instance, is that it brought out the suppressed science. We get a lot of phone calls and emails from the community asking about things like “directed energy weapons” and chemtrails and what part that may have played in this. [NOTE: At this point Robert sidestepped my comment and went on to something totally
Rahasya Uncensored knowingly and negligently and the outcome was predictable. In 2012 Pacific Gas & Electric had five towers in the same line that were blown over because of their age. They were built in 1999 and they rebuilt them in 2016 and they didn’t bother to investigate or inspect the rest of the towers to see if they were structurally sound.
unrelated. So all of you who follow my column and listen to my radio show, you’re probably wondering why I didn’t press him at this point. There will come a day when this has to be addressed, but for now the most important thing is to get this into court with a charge that the court would recognize. I think this is first and foremost on Robert’s mind because he knows as well as I that you can’t go to court with a conspiracy theory. So hang in there because I will be researching and investigating this and interviewing people with a lot of knowledge in this area … I’m not letting it go.] RK: These homes were destroyed because of negligence. When I went up there it really looked like a war zone. If a foreign country had done this we would consider it an act of war. But it was done, and you can’t say deliberately, but it was done
LG: From what I hear the fire started out in Pulga because a tower fell down that was almost 100 years old. From what I’ve been able to find out, PG&E has spent a lot of money on advertising how they are going to upgrade but the reality is that they should have spent the money that they spent on advertising to actually do the upgrades. RK: Yes, they also got hikes in the rate base from the Public Utilities Commission to do these upgrades but we haven’t seen any of that money yet. And by the way, this company has been held responsible criminally. In 2012 they had the pipeline explosion and they are under a criminal investigation and right now they’re under five years of probation because the judge found in that case that they had been falsifying data about their maintenance updates for five years. And they paid $1.6 billion and while they’re on probation for that and it’s clearly the same problem, they are not doing their regular maintenance still.
LG: I think it’s interesting that a few weeks before this fire that PG&E put in a huge base camp right down the road from Paradise. It’s also interesting that they were able to put pressure on the California government to pass a bill that relieves them of the financial responsibility in situations like this. RK: I don’t think they can relieve themselves of the responsibility in this situation. We are going to work at making them responsible. LG: Well, I hope so, Robert, because a lot of people are depending on you and the law firm that you represent to do that very thing. Because you and I both know when the media cycle for this event is over a lot of people are going to walk away and the people that live here will still need help. Do you have a website? RK: Yes we do; it’s BaumHedlundLaw .com but we also have a link that’s a direct link for the people that have been affected by the Camp Fire in this area and that’s CaWildFireAttorney.com. You can visit: LotusGuide.com/CampFire to watch this interview and to see the videos we took immediately after the fire before the cleanup was even started. Berkeley Olive Grove
By Darro Grieco, Berkeley Olive Grove It hasn’t been that long since Dhara and I went out to visit new advertisers who have since become friends. I need to say something about Darro and Olivia because what they’ve accomplished against all odds with their 300-acre olive grove that dates from 1913 is truly amazing. At a time in our history when many people would have seen this property as a money-making opportunity by removing the grove and turning it into housing and commercial endeavors, they heard the call of the land and the olive trees. As we sat there with them on a warm summer evening tasting the different olive oils, we realized that you cannot, although some people try, put a dollar amount on tradition and quality. I honestly don’t know that much about olive oil; I just know that it is the best oil I’ve ever tasted, so I’ll let Darro give you the details. Rahasya & Dhara, Lotus Guide ~~~~~ For the last couple of years olive growers have experienced an increase in climate fluctuations, and of course there have been the wildfires with smoke pollution. Some olive groves have experienced freezes at bloom time,
38
www.lotusguide.com
decreasing their crop size. In fact, the country’s largest olive oil producer is now importing its oil, labeling it “Crafted in California.” Along with preserving “tradition” we are always improving on technology, which is why Berkeley Olive Grove is leading the way in the advancement of art and science in the production of natural extra virgin olive oil. Two years ago gold medals were awarded simultaneously to its oil at the largest international competition of epicurean focus, the New York International Olive Oil Competition, and at Mediterranean competitions for health and nutrition value, the Aristolio and the Olympia Health and Nutrition. In 2018 its awards were silver and gold. The current harvest’s very-highpolyphenol robust olive oils incorporated new production techniques. So far, the oils are slated for human clinical trials in Europe. Each of these new oils qualifies for gold medals at the 2019 health and nutrition venues next May. “The health benefits of olive oil are 99 percent related to the presence of the phenolic compounds, not the oil itself,” says Nasir Malik, research plant physiologist at the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Agricultural Research Service. Others would argue that there are additional benefits such as vitamins, tocopherols, balanced omegas, and
monounsaturated fats. And to date a new phenol, oleomissional, and a beneficial compound, elenolide, have been discovered in Berkeley Olive Grove 1913 olive oils using nuclear magnetic resonance for analysis. Notably, unusually high levels of a powerful antioxidant, oleuropein aglycon, have been consistently present. Mission varietal olives are the only olive variety recognized by the International Olive Council as native to North America. This, too, can be argued. By DNA it is the equivalent of an olive variety associated with Morocco. The Moors conquered and held Spain well before the later missionaries embarked to establish missions along the El Camino Real of the Pacific coast. Back to the present. There is a special place that continues to strive for sustainable and regenerative agro-ecology while producing food of true natural value from traditional agriculture.
